I WAS EXPECTING SOMETHING ELSE, BUT TURNS OUT THIS WAS A CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE WITH A HERO THAT TASTED LIKE WEAK TEA.

OWEN...is quite a sad hero, I'm going to be honest. The entire scenario that started off this story itself sounded lame. I mean, the man almost got himself drowned 5 years ago and he couldn't even recognize his rescuer. He's like a new born hatchling that latches onto the first being it sees. When he was resuscitated, the woman he saw was Chelsea, our heroine's best friend. It was love at first sight apparently and soon they got married. 5 years after, they got divorced and boo-hoo Owen needs a break from the city and returns to where it all began the little small town of Monterey. At the B&B he's staying, he meets Maren again, the beautiful redhead owner of the place and a charming host. Why didn't he ever noticed her beauty before? Owen needed healing, and Maren was just there to help but honestly their 5 years apart with him married to Chelsea was such a waste of time. It was sheer stupidity for him to fall in love at first sight with the woman who can't even swim to save his life. ARE YOU FOR REAL? That part really pissed me off.

MAREN was delightful though, I loved her hospitable self and she's also cheery, beautiful and oh so selfless. Selfless in the sense that she willingly stepped aside and watch her so-called best friend marry the love of her life and kept mum about the truth that SHE WAS THE ONE WHO SAVED OWEN'S LIFE. Do I sound petty? Yes! Because it was such a waste! Maren was soooo much better than Chelsea who just sounded like a love starved child who won't hesitate to hurt people just to get what she wants. I abhor people like that even if I know they can't be blamed for their emotionally deprived childhood. Maren's family B&B is falling into debts and if she can't find a way to save it, she'll need to sell it. Her closest friend who treats her like a granddaughter - Hettie, encourages her to get the financial help from Owen but the silly man accidentally heard their conversation and assumed the worse of Maren. That ticked me off as well.

OVERALL this story was a pocketful of cliche scenarios that would have been fine with me if the hero didn't appear weak, silly and also not alpha at all. While it was enjoyable (I had to close one eye for it), I can't help but find it to be a bit ridiculously unrealistic and seriously WTF.

Beautiful Encounter tells the story of Owen, a divorced man that returns to Monterey where he was saved from drowning by his now ex-wife, Chelsea. Maren, Chelsea’s best friend, is still there and Owen starts to see her in a new light. If you’re looking for a fast read with a little steam, this is the book for you.

This novel hit all the right spots for me.

The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite Disney movies and I also like the fairy tale. In my opinion, the author has managed to use some of the more basic elements from the story and spin them into a realistic, modern romance novel.

Congratulations to Lindsey Hart; you have yet again managed to write a great real-life romance novel with true emotions!

Five-Heart-Felt-Stars!

This is the second book of Lindsey Hart’s I’ve had the privilege of reading and reviewing and she’s for sure become a very popular author to me! She has a way of twisting your emotions and keeping you hooked in and this book was no different to her first book I reviewed Captivated by The Beast.. (highly recommend you check that book out too!)
———————————————————————————
Yet, another heartfelt story, one surely to bring tears to your eyes. If you like ugly-cry books, I think you’ll love this! I know I did. It’s full of love, loss, pain and at the end of it all, a happily ever after!

Owen
5 years ago, he promised his all to the woman who saved him from drowning and who he thought he loved.
But he had been left with nothing but a broken heart.
On a whim to finally bring closure after leaving the woman he was no longer happy with, he travels back to the very place where it all started. The place where a mermaid-like figure saved him.

Maren
He was back.
She had been there on that day when he nearly drowned. She'd watched as he gave his heart away to her best friend. Will he find out the truth? Will it change things? Change the past? Will Maren be able to ask him for help?

Honestly, if you read Captivated by The Beast, this book is for sure a book you’ll like just as much, if not more. It was a shortish kind of book, semi fast paced and full of so many ups and downs and twists and turns along the way.
No cliffhangers, no cheating and a HEA!
———————————————————————————

Once again, Lindsey Hart you’ve blown me away with your incredible imagination, your amazing stories and your fairytale like plot! You make all your characters so easy to picture and easy to connect with as you read.

Thank you so much for yet another chance to review your work!

I hope to be able to read more in the future!

Beautiful Encounter by Lindsey Hart Beautiful Encounter By: Lindsey Hart

The BEST beach READ this summer! A STONG MUST-BUY!
Want a GREAT read for your leisure time this summer? Then I have the book for you! “BEAUTIFUL ENCOUNTER” by Lindsey Hart is THE BOOK to read this summer. It’s a BEACH read because of its setting, and it is a GREAT beach READ because of Lindsey Hart’s amazing writing! Her prose is easy to read, the characters are SO easy to fall in love with, and the plot is amazing! It had just enough angst to keep this reader turning pages while concurrently hoping the story would never end. Lindsey Harts writing pulled me into the story so deeply with her masterful descriptions, that even the steam was a seamless extension of a very powerful bond. Then that promised HEA was so good, I was glad that I couldn’t put “BEAUTIFUL ENCOUNTER” down until I’d read the very last word. “BEAUTIFUL ENCOUNTER” is a feel-good story, one that made me laugh out loud and even cry a bit. I still had to use a tissue or two, but there was no lasting trauma, just a deep and abiding compassion for Maren and Owen as they each faced difficulties. I was given an ARC of “BEAUTIFUL ENCOUNTER” to prepare this honest and voluntary review, and though I do not generally do this, I am going to recommend this novella with a 5+Star, because Lindsey Hart’s writing earned each and every star despite the length. I STRONGLY suggest that you purchase your copy of this phenomenal novella today. Happy pages! 😉

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading this story about Maren and Owen. Maren is a young woman who happens to own a bed and breakfast that has been in our family for the four generations and she is at her wit's end because right now she's not making ends meet. She's trying to figure out what is the best thing to do to save water family work so hard for. Neighbor/second grandma Hettie thanks she needs to get a investor or partner to help her out. She is second memories of what happened 5 years ago with Ellen when she pulled him out of the ocean and rescued him, unfortunately her best friend Chelsea took credit for the saving of Owen and claimed she did it and never told how much really happened. Owen and Chelsea were married, unfortunately after 5 years together things didn't go well and she left for somebody else. Wanting to regroup he heads back to the bed and breakfast in Monterey he met Chelsea. Maren is beside herself that he is coming in his there. Hettie thinks she should ask him to be her partner. Morin says no way she doesn't want to take that from him after he was used by Chelsea. Following them as they learn about each other, that chemistry between the two of them keeps raising and is the dreams keep coming and revealing what really happened that fateful day 5 years ago. Great quick read with great characters.

I loved this book. It was a beautiful story full of love, pain and loss. The characters were wonderful. Maren had been deserted by her mother and had lived with her grandmother for her whole life. She inherited a guest house after the passing of her grandmother. Maren also has a best friend, Jessica, who is broken and abused by her father. Owen was a successful business man who was staying at Maren’s house, went swimming and nearly drowned. Fortunately, Owen is rescued, he mistakenly believes by Jessica, and falls in love with her. Maren sacrifices her own happiness, so her friend can find the love she needs to heal. A Beautiful Encounter tells the story of what happens when both Maren and Owen find themselves in situations that cause them much pain and uncertainty. Lindsey Hart’s writing encourage the reader to become fully involved in the story. I could definitely empathise with their pain and loss as well as the spark of hope that they feel as they eventually begin to fight to find their happy ever after. This is a lovely romance that I highly recommend to readers.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the love story of Owen and Maren. Maren owns a bed & breakfast that is in a small coastal town. When Owen had stayed there a few years prior, he went swimming and nearly drowned. When he was rescued, he saw Chelsea kneeling over him and fell in love with her. They married, but it wasn't meant to be because Chelsea cheated on him and Owen was devastated by the divorce. Owen decided to return to the b&b in hopes of finding some peace. When Maren learned Owen was coming back, she was excited to see him because she was in love with him and wanted to be with him. Maren was also facing selling the b&b because the renovations she needed to do were causing her to fall behind on the bills and face financial ruin. Maren's neighbor wanted her to ask Owen to invest in the b&b, but Maren didn't want to ask him and have him think it was the only reason she wanted to be with him. Maren was also hiding a secret from Owen that could change everything. I enjoyed this book. I really loved the connection between Owen and Maren. I thought they were meant to be together and had great chemistry. Another good one.

Lindsay Hart is a favorite author so I knew I would enjoy this retelling of the little mermaid fairytale. This is a love story of Owen and Maren delayed. Maren owns a B&B in a small coastal town. When Owen had stayed there about 5 years ago, he went swimming and nearly drowned. He was rescued and he thought he saw Chelsea (Maren’s troubled best friend) kneeling over him and fell in love with her. They married, but it was unhappy, because Chelsea cheated on him and Owen was devastated by the divorce. Owen decided to return to the place it all began in the hope of finding some closure. Maren was excited to see him because she'd been in love with him but gave up so her friend could find happiness. Now maybe she had a chance? Maren was also facing selling the B&B because the loan she’d taken for the renovations she’d needed to do was coming due and she might lose it. Maren's neighbor wanted her to ask Owen to invest, but Maren kinda thought that was tacky since she loved him. And Maren had a secret she was hiding from Owen. We knew they were meant to be together. Would they ever figure it out?

Beautiful Encounter is the second book by Lindsey Hart that I have read (the other being the really fun Captivated by the Beast which I separately reviewed). It’s a real winner and at this point I’m strongly guessing that’s going to be true of most things by this author. What can I say about this book? His about simply that it’s title is fairly descriptive. It’s about s beautiful - life saving - encounter and it’s aftermath, and really is a wonderful modern day reimagining of the classic The Little Mermaid tale. Steamy romantic fun and total pleasure. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Owen nearly drowned whilst he was on a holiday and fell in love with the woman he saw when opened his eyes. He married her but later discovered she had been having an affair during their marriage and they got divorced. He had been having nightmares about the drowning for a while so he decided to return to where it happened. He discovered he had a strong connection with the owner of the bed and breakfast but wasn't sure why and decided to pursue his feelings for her. However, he overheard a conversation between the owner and her neighbour which caused a misunderstanding so he left in anger. He later discovered the reason he had a connection with the owner of the bed and breakfast, so he returned to claim his happiness.

Whilst I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to my friends and family, I felt the beginning of the book dragged on a little too long, so I only gave the book four stars.

Lindsey Hart has created a beautiful retelling of sorts of The Little Mermaid. Set in modern day Monterey, California, Owen returns after a messy divorce from his wife of 5 years to find answers and closure. Upon his arrival he is reunited with Maren a local B&B owner. A connection between the two quickly turns to lust and blossoms into something much more special. Unfortunately Maren is hiding secrets and Owen is battling old doubts and fears of his own. A heartwarming story of finding peace when you least expect it and finding love in the midst of heartache. Beautiful Encounter is a quick read full of heartache, tears, doubts, fears, secrets, passion, and love. Readers will fall in love with Owen and Maren and the seaside town of Monterey, California. A romantically Tender story that readers won’t want to put down.

Lindsey Hart’s writing is amazing. Whatever she writes she does it so that it is easy to read, the characters are full of life and easy to fall in love with. The plots are always amazing, fairytales with a great twist. This one has just enough angst to keep you turning the pages whilst hoping the story won't end. Lindsey's writing pulls you into the story with her excellent descriptions. There are steamy scenes, but they are a seamless extension of the plot and don't distract in any way. Maren and Owen are fabulous characters. Then there is the promised HEA, which is so good, I was glad that I couldn’t put this book down until I’d read the very last page.

I wavered between 3 stars and 4 stars. This made me realize that it really was 3 stars from me or I wouldn't have had to try and think about it. I was really excited about the concept of this story and maybe that is part of why it ended up a little flat for me. Owen and Maren are descent characters but even though there was no mermaid, you still needed to be willing to totally suspend reality from your thought process while reading this story and I am not very good at that. Escape is great but I personally need to believe it can happen to me to enjoy the story. I couldn't believe it would happen. So while I did "enjoy" reading this story, something was off for me. It is a quick, page turning story that I am sure plenty will LOVE.

WOW !!!!
The little mermaid has nothing on this modern day adult tale !!
After being rescued from drowning by a mermaid like woman, Owen promised his whole being to her, he also thought he loved her but that was 5 years ago and she left him broken hearted with nothing else.
Hoping to bring himself some closure Owen returns to where it all began, what he does not know is the woman he gave his heart to was not the one to safe him !!
Will Maren tell him the truth ?? Will He believe Her ?? Will they find their HEAs?? or will the past prevent them from moving forward ?? GRAB the book settle down some where quite and sink into the depths with it !! I enjoyed the story line and the way the characters developed along the way !!

This was described as a modern day retelling of "The Little Mermaid", but this was soooo much more than Disney had in mind! This is a story full of old fashioned romance, bitchy women, good things happening to good people for a change and love winning in the end. Of course the road to love and their HEA is never smooth and Linsday has you yelling at Owen and Maren to get over themselves and get together ,and then you are panting right along with them as Owen and Maren are getting over and over and over themselves, lol. This is for 18 and over readers . Loved the satisfying ending but still would love the see a what happens next. Families come in all different shapes and sizes. Recommending to all my fellow readaholics . Perfect for the beach or a weekend at the cottage. This will put a smile on your face and renew your faith in love. I loved this one so much I couldn't put it down and read it twice, lol. One of the top 5 books this summer!

Owen met Maren and her best friend Chelsea at the beach where he drowned but, thanks to CPR, he was brought back to life. While traveling his life's path, one that is paved with deception, Owen marries, divorces and lives a life filled with despair for several years before he discovers a secret hidden from him for five years. Once he discoverers the truth about that critical informatio, he makes changes to his life that will bring love and security to several people.

My favorite line ..
'Maren trailed behind him, like the foam the waves brought in. It remained on the beach, lonely and forlorn.'
I think that is truly beautiful and so fitting considering the setting for story.

This is a beautiful story about a man whose life is saved from drowning by Maren. But Maren allows her friend Chelsea to falsely take the credit for the rescue and to marry the man who is so grateful to her. The marriage breaks up in a bitter divorce, however, and Owen Carter returns to what is now Maren’s Bed & Breakfast in Monterey where it all started to find some peace, sort his feelings, and perhaps find closure or an answer to his questions. Will he and Maren be drawn together to find the HEA that should have been theirs from the beginning?

I enjoy this type of story that comes from the heart. It captures the reader’s emotions and really pulls the reader into the story. You won’t want to miss this one!

Five years ago Owen almost drowned and was saved by Chelsea and fell in love with her. Now five years later she left him and took a lot of his money. He’s wanting closure so he goes back to Monterey to where it all began. Maren saved Owen five years ago and let her friend take the credit and the man. But she has loved him for five years and never said anything but now she sees him back in town and wonders if this is her chance. Owen has had a funny pull back to this town and wonders why until he sees Maren his ex’s best friend. Now he wonders if it was Maren that is the pull. They finally talk and they feel the attraction. Will they see if they will get a HEA?

Beautiful Encounter is a story of a man (Owen) lost and alone that almost drowns while on vacation whom is rescued by a woman he believes was his ex wife Chelsea.

Maren is the young girl that runs her generations owned bed and breakfast that is in a bind financially since she updated/remodeled the home. She is also best friend's with Chelsea.

Owen returns to the bed nd breakfast once again lost in his life for answers and reunites with Maren. Except this time he really sees Maren.

Can they have a relationship when Owen is so lost after his divorce from Chelsea and when Maren is dealing with her own financial issues?

There is a lot more to the story and is emotional from both points of view.

This is an enjoyable, quick read where the reader meets Maren and Owen. Maren is the owner of a B&B in a town where Owen had an almost fatal accident when he was swimming there years ago. Chelsea, Maren’s best friend, took the credit for saving Owen and they subsequently married. However, their union was ill-fated and did not last. Owen returns to the B&B to find some peace. Maren is overjoyed with Owen’s return as she had a crush on him but when it comes to love, sometimes the road is never easy. Both characters have their own demons to deal with. Can they have their happily ever after? This is one book that will put a smile on your face when all is said and done.

The writing is fantastic, touching, moving, eliciting strong emotions, and transporting you into the story. Owen's pain is resounding with the depth of his despair displayed in the writing. I cannot say enough about Ms Hart's ability to write scenes that are breathtaking with imagery of the settings that are captivating. Maren is selfless, loving caring and she is an old soul. Owen and Maren have lived through some events that have imprinted their very existence but does change them. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

An enjoyable short read with instalove, some steam, humor and some tears in this intriguing romance. Owen seeking closure comes back to where it all began after his marriage didn't work out with Chelsea, Maren's best friend who she allowed to take the credit when saving him from drowning. Maren's been long time suffering when he comes back and struggling to keep family bed and breakfast in business. I enjoyed following Maren and Owen as they each faced difficulties as they find their HEA that should of happened since the beginning.

Good story, but not a huge fan of the characters

Beautiful Encounter is a good story, but not on my favorites list. Even though it is a short read, I couldn't read it in one sitting because I had a hard time getting into it. I want really a fan of either of the main characters. Both Maren and Owen are kind of weak characters. They both seem a little bit too emotionally needy, and woe-is-me about missed opportunities. Though I comprehend the emotion that the author is trying to elicit, I just wasn't really feeling it. That being said, it is a good plot and the epilogue is worth the read.
