Like the phrase from Brokeback Mountain, "R.R. Banks, I wish I knew how to quit you." Ever time you release a new book, I get sucked into the blurb, love the feel of your covers and before I know it... My fingers are on the mouse, click-clicking on the book. I got hooked with my first experience when I read Accidental Fiancé. This had all the humor, banter and depth of story with characters to hold my interest totally. It was a surprising winner for me and I have been chasing that feel from R.R. Banks since.

I have read a few books since that first experience and have learned R.R. Banks does more than light contemporary romance. He does a darker Alpha type too. This particular book was more of the humor/push/pull style and had the haves versus the have-nots pitted against each other. He is the have... she comes from the have-nots and is more of a bleeding heart. She sees the wrongs society is doing clearly and wants to make a difference.

The blurb is accurate and follows the whole fake fiance troupe. It was a mix of the author's style; some light moments, some banter and a villain to try to break things up. All in all an HEA in the end.

I didn’t enjoy this one very much. The pacing was ridiculous, the very quick leaps to sex and marriage and baby made absolutely no sense, even for a romance novel, and the characters fell flat for me. The entire premise was extremely flimsy and I didn’t feel like this book lived up to its blurb. I would not recommend this one.

Couldn't pretend to like the h

I got 44% through this book before us called it quits. I keep expecting Bailey to become less irrational, shallow, judgmental, b!t©#y, I could go in. She was extremely immature with a chip on her shoulder the size of Texas. I liked the H just fine I guess. I actually liked Maureen his secretary more than Colin himself. Usually one of my favorite tropes. The female lead just wasn't likeable.

Personally I don’t care for this author, however I read the first brother’s story and I felt compelled to read about the others. The story itself was good. The main disappointment was the fact that the author apparently forgot that Aiden and Katie’s baby was a boy not a girl named Dalton and Charlotte “Charlie”

Another installment of the Anderson boys,,,,, Loved this story also,,,, !!!

Colin Anderson lives in Boston, he has 3 brothers, Liam, Adrian and Brayden that all live in different places as they all have their own part of  Anderson Development Enterprises who are real estate developers and this morning he's called to the construction site because they are being boycotted against by a group of people who felt their starting construction wasn't right and by the time Colin got there, he had his foreman, Mason call the cops and they get arrested, and the leader of the protesters is named Bailey and is that women ever infuriating,,, but damn, she's hot and he could really use her for Christmas to keep his brother's off his case of not seeing anybody,,,,

Bailey Janson is a paralegal with a firm that deals with the poor and disadvantaged and she's also a part time artist as she hasn't been in any shows to sell her art,,,, she is also an artist with her photography, she is arrested at the construction site when she was protesting and then her job was taken away from her but Colin talked to her boss and asked them to keep her on,,,, so, she had thought maybe she should apologize but then he found her and they had a wonderfully, steamy encounter and that just starts a whole ball rolling on their relationship,,,,

This is an amazing book,,,, I loved each and every minute of it and I couldn't put it down until I had read the very last sentence, and then I wanted more,,,,, I would recommend this series of The Anderson Brother's to anybody,,,,, they are each and every one different but they compliment each other so well,,,,

I have read this ARC voluntarily to do an honest review,,,,,

Last book still has many problems

I read the whole series, so of course I would read the last one. I kept up with the series because the basic story line was good, but this book also had some unrealistic scenarios. First though, Aidan and Katie had a boy in their book, and were arguing about the name Dalton. So this book talks about 2 kids and I am trying to remember genders and names but then Kate says she has to change her GIRL Charlie!!! How can you change the gender and name after the baby boy was a big part of the last book. I checked the other reviews, many 5 stars, and no one noticed this except one other person! Also, if I were a guy and someone threatened to yell rape if I tried to leave a bathroom they locked me in, I would tell them they were not welcome to my house again, but no, Colin and his brothers let her stay. Then the terrible quest really hands it to Bailey and insults her badly, and Bailey doesn’t let Collin know; and she decides not to sleep with her fiancé cause she needs sleep? I wanted to finish the series I started but the books need a lot of editing. Also in the end he makes a decision about the house that I do t think amanu would make.

DNF

I quit this book just under 50% because I just couldn't anymore. Everything was just so annoying. The characters were annoying. Their situation was annoying. It was all just annoying. I struggled with this for a month and I'm done. It's not good.

The two people just created issues for themselves where they did not need to. The h just came off terribly to me with her "I'm an activist!" attitude. Like, we don't talk like that or think like that. We just don't. I liked the H better but even he was getting on my nerves with his I don't handle emotions well shit.

The pacing was awful. I felt like I was reading forever and getting nowhere. The blurb led me to believe that the conflict here was going to be much different than it actually is. This book should have been tightened up, a lot. Anyway, it's a no for me. Which is a shame because the writing itself, mechanics wise, isn't awful.

Colin Anderson pulls up to the site to see a crowd of protestors chained to the fences and the equipment and, right in the middle of it all, churning them up into a frenzy, is Bailey! He sends his foreman to call the cops and get the site cleared so they can get some work done! With a determined look in her eye, Bailey strides up to challenge Colin. He sees his building project as a means to improve communities by developing the land. Full of righteous indignation, she sees it as taking the only affordable housing the poor have available and leaving them with nothing. He suggested that they instead help the people get jobs and become self-sufficient and Bailey gave him the statistics on what percent were blue-collar workers already earning a living for their families. He returned statistics to her on the number of shootings, stabbings, and drug arrests. Neither of them would back down. But the bottom line was that he had a client who purchased the land and had plans for it. Her indignation didn’t change that fact.

As sirens sounded, two of the protesters began to destroy Colin’s car with hammers and shovels – the car he had bought with his own money through hard work and sacrifice. It had meant something to him. Then they attacked him as Bailey stared in horror at their actions. Colin defeated both men, but he was furious. He told her that he held her personally responsible for what happened, and as the cop took her arm and led her away, he ignored her pleading look and said nothing. This is far from over… but where will they go from here?

I don’t know how he does it, but this author consistently writes amazingly good books with a strong story line that captures the reader’s attention from the very start. The characters are brought to life, right in front of your eyes. The snappy dialog is absolutely perfect! Colin and Bailey’s story is filled with all kinds of strong emotions which will bring the reader right into the heart of things. Be ready for an emotional ride that will leave you breathless to the end!

Just fantastic!!!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and frankly I feel like this incredible book deserves more stars than the rating system can actually allow. R.R. Banks continually amazes me, book after book, but this one in particular stands out and shines bright.

Not only is this a bold, feel-good romance, showcasing the elemental pull of opposites attracting in the most explosive of ways, this story has some of the strongest, and simply amazing characters. I loved how the author wasn't afraid to talk about social inequality in regards to wealth and class distinction. Definitely not in a preachy, hyperbolic way, but rather it felt genuine and integral to the story and especially the characters. It read as real, and I loved that aspect. For me, the socially conscious character was a big part of what made this book so special.

The protagonists had lovely depth of their own individually and were truly fun and facinating to read, especially as they became closer. They also grew as people during the course of the book in a very believable way and I very much enjoyed watching that. These characters were so relatable that by the end I felt as if I knew them. So that is some stellar writing!!!!!

The pace was lively and didnt drag, yet it didnt go too fast, either. We had time to enjoy the story as it unfolded. The plot was engaging and, I found, largely refreshing. The very, very entertaining humour of R.R. Banks was on point and perfectly woven throughout the entire book. I love that even when he is writing a serious or complex scene this author can still make me giggle out loud.

All in all, I LOVED this book! So much! I have read every single book R.R. Banks has written, and I adore both them and the evolution of his style, but this book catapulted itself to the top of the list, stole my heart, and became my very favourite of them all!!! I COMPLETELY recommend this story --- you will NOT be disappointed!!!!!

Good but needs work.

I overall like this book and series. There are a lot of good aspects of each, including this one. But, it seems like there were too many repeated things in the books and inconsistencies. The brothers weren't close in the first book or two but all of a sudden, they have this crazy strong bond? And where did Charlie come from? Where's Dalton? That made no sense whatsoever. Did I miss something or did Bailey really not ever tell Colin she'd never slept with anyone else? There were also a lot of grammatical errors. I enjoyed the books and liked the characters. I really really liked that the characters were not currently or recently slutty. There's no cheating or outside the relationship sex, and I really appreciate that. I hate when that stuff is in books. I loved how prejudices against the poor and also against the wealthy were brought up. It was nice to see that balance and discussion of both sides. There were amazing and strong bonds between the wives, which was great but seemed to pop up out of nowhere. The romantic relationships were also strong and real with great connections. The way the characters worked thjngs out quickly instead of letting a big misunderstanding was great. There was a lot of great writing done in this series, abd I hope the author continues this. But, the inconsistencies need fixed, more editing needs to be done, and what happened with Matthew? I wish he was mentioned later. If he was, and I somehow missed it, ignore me. Overall, good book and good series, but all of the books in the series could be better with some polishing up.

Feisty two love birds.
I received this amazing ARC, it’s an honor and a privilege to read it. I definitely recommend it!

It was quite hard to read this book for the simple reason that Bailey was contradictory, an imposing figure for the less fortunate. She’s a paralegal, smart and loyal to a teeth. A bit to forceful sometimes to the point of . Argh! I certainly enjoyed her passions.

Collin, This snarky, obnoxious very wealthy business man turned 360 degrees as the story progresses.
Those two characters go at it with full banter, hot exchanges. I loved every moment of chuckles, laughter from the moment I started this read. It’s a love, hate relationship based on humanity versus monetary values.

R.R .Banks went all out with strong, banter to the extreme, conflicted emotional love birds.
Bailey brought something special to Colin he had no idea of. This was such a turn about. As the story progresses I sink in deeper and deeper into the storyline. Cringe and love it!

This is an intense, powerfully emotional, combined with feisty characters.

The story is descriptive, passionate, heats up with lots of hot sex and so very well written.
Collin’s love for Bailey is phenomenal. The end of the story was so powerful, beautiful to tears.

You will need to buy it for your list of incredibly emotional read.
The whole Anderson set should be a given.

Bravo R.R . Banks!
What an amazing thing that such a powerful brain still continues to delight in every way of books.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This story is an apropos ending to the Anderson brothers—simply phenomenal and a much needed breath of fresh air! I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this book. An engaging story that will keep you captivated and glued to the pages of this fascinating storyline, and the momentum of the story keeps you wanting to read more. I really enjoyed reading this story because of the emotional angst, scorching love scenes, a compelling storyline, and humorous at times. R.R. Banks does an excellent job in giving you a compelling storyline while using some humor to make a serious point in a nonthreatening way. Colin Anderson is successful, disgustingly wealthy, handsome, sexy as hell, temperamental, and he normally gets what he wants. Bailey Janson is beautiful, sassy, and obstinate. I loved the banter between Colin and Bailey. Read Colin and Bailey’s journey and how they each have their imperfections to deal with but their journey make them realize that they can overcome anything and any impediments. You get a chance to see the progression of their love. The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. If you are looking for a love story like none other you’ve read before, this is definitely the book for you.

Pretending

First thing. This book needs editing. It doesn't deter from the story but the words/punctuation makes me think spell check works. But the wrong word even spelled correctly changes the thought of the reader.

Interesting read. Very entertaining. Good storyline....

Bailey...
Oh geez. A socialist. A self proclaimed social justice warrior... "we're trying to do is fight for equality, and social justice." Hello? We all can't be on the same socio-economic playing field because some of us have better work ethics, actually pay attention in school. Her hatred of people with wealth has made her cynical, rude and annoying. Liberalville is a horrible community to be stuck in. Their preconceived ideas make it difficult for change as conservatives can see that they are wrong, admit it and change said behavior. That is what makes one grow and have an open mind.

At least Bailey came to the light. It is the wealthy who have influence, have the money and an afford to help others. Who do you think started shelters, food banks, programs?

Will I read more of R.R. Banks books? Of course I will.

Colin Anderson couldn’t remember the name of the beautiful dark haired beauty who was causing his crew to fall behind schedule, but after their run in he’d know Bailey Jensen’s name, she make sure the arrogant entitled rich man knew who she was and why she strongly opposed what he was doing to the people in the neighbor hood he was trying to tear down.

A tale of opposites attract. Bailey’s always been the underprivileged and Colin’s never known her struggles, but together they some how understand each other and can’t fight the chemistry. When Colin needs a fake fiancé to keep his family at bay Baileys name is the one that comes to mind immediately. But will the feisty independent woman go along with this deception? And what happens after Christmas? How will she let the man she loves go knowing this is a business arrangement to him and nothing more?

I liked this story, but didn’t love it. While there was an obvious attraction, it didn’t have the organic relationship development that I hoped for, seemed unnecessarily forced when it would’ve happened, it’s almost as if the author wanted to get the book out of the way and done with. But an ok read nonetheless

Getting In The Way of Progress💕

Love-Hate💔, Fake Fiance, Alpha Male, Adult Romantic Comedy💕

Colin🐺🍆🌋 is the billionaire bad boy just trying to build a new building🏢 in an old, rundown part of Boston , but being stymied at every turn by Bailey, a beautiful protester and her group of activists, who chain themselves to his equipment.
Even though Colin🐺🍆🌋 is really angry when two activists vandalize his car, he asks Bailey's boss, a lawyer, not to fire her.
The two are at odds over city revitalization progress , versus the housing needs of the working poor. A yearly week long family Christmas gathering brings Colin🐺🍆🌋 to ask Bailey💃💋 to be his fake fiance for the duration.
It's a silly premise, and do people actually let family or peer pressure push them into this kind of situation?

Wow! This book has something for every Adult Romance Reader. The only thing it doesn't have are Aliens and a motorcycle gang! Or maybe a sheik or a prince!

Bailey works as a paralegal however she's an artist and an activist also. She is protesting at one of Colin's building sites because of the lose of homes and works for low income people when sparks fly between them. Colin is tired of all the protesting and has everyone arrested. When Bailey learns that Colin saved her from getting fire she goes to thank him but they manage to have another of their heated talks. Colin needs to have a buffer when his brothers decide to bring his ex with them for Christmas so he approaches Bailey about helping him. Can Bailey and Colin keep things platonic? What happens when things start to feel very real?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between Bailey and Colin is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Do you have any idea how easy it is to get lost in any given release of Mr. Banks? His is a mind like none other and Just Pretend is another example of R.R.'s exemplary skills in creating an impressive storyline with the characters to match. While I do try very hard to never to give away a storyline/plot, I will give you my honest opinion. If you love romance, as I do, then I encourage you to get lost in this newly released, although, definitely wonderfully written, pages. You will never be disappointed with R.R.'s work and you'll be coming back for more, just as I do, every single time. So why not follow along as Colin and Bailey take you on their amazing journey to their happily ever after. I promise that you will be as riveted as I was... Guaranteed.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Just Pretend in exchange for my honest/voluntarily given opinion and I highly recommend anything released by this impressive Author.

R.R. continues the Anderson series with the 4th installment. Colin is a developer in Boston, and enjoys his bachelor life. His brothers continue to comment on his single life now that they have all found their HEA.

Bailey is a paralegal that tries protest the development from happening in the poor areas of Boston. After her last protest against Colin her job is in jeopardy. When her boss tells her if not for Colin she would be out she decides time to bury the hatchet and thank him. When she goes to his office to thank him she notices an immediate spark when he is close.

Things go from good to bad quick when they start talking, and neither will admit there is an attraction. After a couple more run ins they decide to go out and Colin seizes the opportunity to ask Bailey about “pretending” to be his girlfriend. Will Bailey accept his offer to be his pretend girlfriend, or will she turn him down to keep from falling for him and having her heart broke for real.

The Anderson Brothers!
Setting up their part of the family legacy in varying parts of the country they have not only built strong businesses but found what they're lives have been missing along the way, except for Colin...
One demonstration too many, and the need for a decoy to get his well-meaning family off his back has lead him straight to the woman who drives him insane, yet occupies more of his thoughts then he'd like Bailey.
What starts as lust, confusion, and anger turns into something either is equipped to handle. Throw in the Holidays and the rest of the Andersons...
Let the madness begin!
A smoking hot, fast-moving, frustrating storyline, with fierce, witty characters and a stellar twist! Loved this addition to the Anderson Brothers stories!
I was sad to see this one end!

Take a shot

I challenge you to take a shot for every time you stumble upon the word gentrification. You will be dunk... at least in the beginning. With that said the book was free and I can’t complain. All I wanted was a chicklet book with a great plot and some steamy scenes—- I got the steamy scenes so I guess that’s all I can ask for.... I mean maybe I glossed over this book but when did he decide a fake fiancé I thought it was fake girlfriend? And then within the 8 days they banged and then a week later she’s hanging out with his family then there’s drama then she falls and now she’s pregnant???? Doc said she was a month along and they hadn’t been together more than 3 weeks and she was a virgin and also that never got brought up? For the love of Jesus why do I do this to myself? Why must I ask for not just romance but also a plot that makes sense?

This is the fourth book about the Anderson Brothers and is the story of Colin. Colin is the youngest brother in a fiercely loyal and close family. Colin's world explodes when he meets Bailey, his polar opposite. The love story that ensues is passionate and breath taking. I am a fan of this author's work and everytime I think a book is his best, he tops it. The interaction among characters is full of emotion, drama, and humor. I adored the bonding of the three Anderson wives with Bailey. The ending and surprises will leave you satisfied and the epilogue gives us one last glance into family love, romantic love and love for our fellow human beings. I won't give any details of the story as I want you to thoroughly enjoy this book.

The last of the Anderson boys' stories. It's Colin's turn. While I enjoyed his character and loved the gang getting together and having each other's backs, I just could not FEEL for Bailey. She was more than hardheaded toward her cause. She is so judgmental, lacking in trust and understanding for anyone other that what she feels are people like her. True, later in the story, she seems to bend and change somewhat. But, truthfully, by then it didn't matter to me. I couldn't see what Colin saw in her, but, I guess it's true - to each his own!
Sorry. Not one of my favorite Banks stories.

If you've seen the movie Two Weeks Notice, you don't need to read this book...billionaire construction magnet in family business, paralegal instead of Harvard attorney, and the book even starts with her holding up his construction. As the two come together, she softens him and brings him over to her way of seeing the world. I adored Colin, and Bailey's energy is infectious, but overall the book felt a little preachy as Bailey worked her causes. It can be read as a stand-alone book, but it does feel like the tail end of something else. By book four, much of the back story explained and expanded in books 1-3 is taken for granted. Quick read.

Self righteous and exhausting heroine

I absolutely hated the female character. So self righteous and judgmental. She acted like an abused wife the entire time and treated this guy like crap. He kept coming back for more and more emotional abuse the whole time forgiving her. These two completely weak characters that did nothing to support each other from start to finish. There were no visible redeeming qualities for her and frankly, how could they ever have a successful relationship if she constantly refuses to listen to him until after she jumps the gun and insults him. Who in their right mind would want to be with someone that constantly berates them?

Wholly drama

The book wasn't bad. I did feel it was very repetitive in moments and I seemed to skip or skim through some of The book. I think the main thing that didn't work for me was Bailey. She was very OUT with drama and I felt like there were a few things that just kind of floated away.
Spoiler

During the scene where they fall asleep in the spare room, no where does it say anything about the condom. Also, it seemed like there had been so much drama about her being a protester then all of a sudden it was just over with. Another, was the virgin thing discussed. It just happened then disappeared. The writing was fine, just seemed a lot of ends weren't really tied up.

Anderson brothers

Ok. I liked this series. All four are very cute, sweet stories. Little bit of drama, sex, happy ending. The formula is not a whole lot different from brother to brother. Each brother is traumatized by something. They each find a girl in trouble who is poor and salty. The magic sperm thing is dumb. Three of the brothers get the girl pregnant despite using condoms. Come on, seriously? Only one has a planned pregnancy. But three get pregnant despite condoms? Having one break or not using one would have been more realistic than three the same way. That’s tired.

Once again R.R. has written a romantic, steamy, heart-breaking, passionate romance. This fourth book involves Colin the arrogant wealthy youngest Anderson brother and Bailey a beautiful, independent woman. Colin is corporate America whereas Bailey fights for the poor. How can these two polar opposites find common ground? “Just Pretend” is a riveting story that flows well and held my attention until the end. Another must read masterpiece.

Absolutely amazing!

After reading all four of the Anderson Brothers series, Colin’s was definitely my favorite! I would recommend all four books in a heartbeat! They’re filled with so much love, and passion. I don’t know if it was the relationship of Bailey and Colin or the relatability I had with Bailey. I could not put this book down! Truthfully, I couldn’t stop reading each book in the series. Maybe it’s the hopeless romantic in me that see the flaws in your characters and the relatability they have that I love so much.

The problem with pretending is that you have to get your story right.
Colin Anderson needs a fake fiancée but never did he dream of asking Bailey, a woman who seems to be the opposite of everything he believes in. She just riles him up every time they are together. Now the fun starts
A fantastic story of the Anderson brothers... sorry it’s the last one, but Colin and Bailey don’t disappoint. A story of secrets, family, crazy exes, drama and love. Brilliantly written and loved it

Bailey is my girl.

I love her spunkiness. She gives as good as she takes, but she a "normal" girl. She has insecurities, doubts, and fears, but she's also not afraid to stand up for herself.

When she meets her arch nemesis, something happens. There's a different kind of fire burning within her.

Colin is a buttoned up corporate guy, that knows everything. When he needs help with something, he finds that Bailey can rescue him.

There are twists and turns, but ultimately, there's a connection. Above all else, that's what everyone is looking for.
