Wow this storyline is getting really exciting. I would have loved to see this as another season of the Legend of Korra, and for it to be much more fleshed out as a whole season of episodes, instead of just as a three-part comic.
I know that the pages are limited, but I would love some sweet moments between the characters, that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the overlaying story... Just give me some tooth-decaying Korrasami fluff please!!

“No, Commander Guan. I won’t be returning. And I serve no one – not the Avatar, and especially not you.”

Ok, so I ended up really liking this one.

Seeing the process that the Earth Kingdom is going through is fun and all, real progress that needed to happen. And honestly, a far better option than having Prince Wu ruling them. But the real reason I totally love this series is because of all my Kuvira goodness.

“I know you have every reason to hate me, but I didn’t know who else to turn to. Please, I need your help.”

Sure, during most of Season 4 I didn't know what to do with her but over the last issue and this one, I've really grown to like her character.

Her conflict, her drive, her want, it's all so... sad in away. She's a really ambitious person with big ideals and hopes. She's passionate and smart which makes her dangerous. But is all born from these two very different places, her life with Suyin and the abandonment of her parents.

Just seeing all that she's going through right now and getting another glimpse of her character excites me a lot.

“I saw the former Earth Queen. She’s got me doubting my plan to make the Earth Kingdom a democracy. [She also said] That people don’t really want change. She also insisted that people would much rather stick to what feels ‘safe’ and ‘secure’ than do anything outside their comfort zone.”

The whole thing going on with the General and what he's doing is interesting, especially because it has roots that we already knew about.

Honestly, the Earth Kingdom needs to stop doing that.

I'm sure they'll find some way to reverse it but I also wish they do it in a cool not-immediately-obvious way.

I always have a lot of fun reading these comics!

Kuvira is such an interesting character and I totally love what they are doing with her. She deserves better.

I was starting to miss this world.

For a second there I had forgotten this was about to be released and, clearly, the date flew by me. But, here I am, ready to read this beauty and find myself again in this engrossing world.

I really want to see Kuvira's development and the more sedated way this conflict needs to be solved.

Ruins of the Empire, Part 2 is super fun. It brings together such different and contrasting characters, like Wu, Korra, Toph, and Kuvira. It was great having them all interact together in scenes. The brainwashing is also a neat throwback to Avatar.

3.5/5* I’m living for Kuvira’s Redemption Arc here, but to be honest the whole brainwashing thing is just kinda lame in my opinion. Still excited for part three!

I think I really have to read these back to back--it's been so long since I read the first one that I no longer remembered the series-specific characters. And honestly, I'm reading these just for Korrasami.

*4.5

Oooh, stuff is REALLY picking up! I like this expansion of technology we saw in ATLA, and the Kuvira stuff is compelling. That stuff with Wu and the swamp was great too. I'm looking forward to seeing how this'll all go down. 4.5/5 stars.

'If you haven't noticed, I hate being around people. What makes you think I want to be of service to them?'

There's just something so hot about a [redacted] and rude as hell Asami being reassured by a worried Korra, hee. Can I just say I so appreciate the fact that they had the time to grab Asami just so we could see this new and juicy dynamic play out. Truly a Korrasami dynamic that I never knew I needed. They are so marrieds, it's not even funny (me for the 2843879th time probably).

God, the characters in this just hit and that, too in just 80 pages, that has to be some kind of a talent.

King Wu in that swamp ahsjfl. He's basically how I would be in every single slightly worrying situation, TBH LOL.

Toph is incredible as usual and I just couldn't with her being so sarcastic about it all, I love her.

Kuvira coming to her senses is so good to see but also, that flashback got me emotional. Anyone could have seen it coming that baby Kuvira was a problematic child but she was also rightfully so guarded and precious? I require an entire book immediately.

I'm digging the plot and really curious as to how they'll resolve it, eeee.

The art remains 10/10!

And the plot thickens.....the pacing of this second book was superb, perfectly setting up the stage for the big climax. Kuvira's character keeps getting more fleshed out, and HALLELUJAH, we see Toph again. Plus, we get a glimpse of the beginning of Su and Kuvira's relationship, which was hinted at in the show but never fully explored. I hated seeing Team Avatar at odds with each other, but I really appreciated that they didn't follow the cliche trope of 'OUR LOVE IS SO PURE THAT IT GAVE ME THE STRENGTH TO FIGHT OFF THIS BRAINWASHING'. Kuvira continues to be awesome - a flawed, strong, stubborn character who is slowly learning to accept true responsibility for her past mistakes. She was born to lead and rebel, but she clearly is still very human and craves both acceptance and forgiveness. Bring on the sweet, sweet redemption moment!

Somehow I managed to get my hands on this one early which was thrilling because I love Kuvira very much. Spoiler free; I wasn't disappointed. It was really wonderful to see more of little Kuvira. She was such an adorable and squishy child lol. And of course current Kuvira is a badass. I really hope to see her make amends with Baatar and the other Be Fongs.
