Legionnaire #8

Seneca's Command

Rate this book
While Prefect Marcus Venandus struggles with the Curse of Madre Tierra, the Gente of Morganita betray their alliance with the Black Hat Legion and launch a surprise attack on Fort Prime. With all the senior officers in the fort dead, the most junior of officers, Acting Magus Seneca Liberus, finds himself in charge. With thousands of Gente massing to continue the assault backed by the powerful mago House of Victor, it falls to Seneca to measure up to the proud traditions of Aquila and lead his green legionnaires to victory.

This could be my sneaky favorite. I don't want to give spoilers, but obviously it's a great hook to show the young narrator of this series-- right, remember Seneca is the chronicler who is writing down these events-- taking on unexpected and tremendous responsibility. I kept catching myself, wondering if he would survive! That's how good the writing is, here and across this series.

Audiobook Review

Another excellent audiobook in this series. I was good to see how Seneca’s character developed and how he handled situations.

Thanks again to Will for bringing these stories to life with your wonderful narration!
