Life at Grace Field House had been good for Emma and her fellow orphans. While the daily studying and exams they had to take were tough, their loving caretaker provided them with delicious food and plenty of playtime. But when they discover the horrifying truth about why they are being kept at the orphanage, their lives change forever…
Emma and Ray race to the queen’s chamber to stop Norman’s plan, but are they too late? What has propelled Norman to take such a brutal path, and is it something that will forever change his relationship with his closest friends?
En The Promised Neverland #18 vemos amistad, familia, corrupción, traiciones...
The pace keeps getting faster and faster but it's a bit underwhelming since it feels rushed. Suddenly everything is happening at the same time while the pace in several previous volumes was very slow. Still, looking forward to seeing how everything is going to be wrapped up. This isn't nearly as good as the first arc but it is the second best.
Everything just really works out for them, doesn't it? Like Emma gives a speech and all of a sudden everyone's on the same side? I mean, I get that she's the hero. But, it's unbelievable at this point. Still love her though.
AGAIN, nobody stays dead. NO ONE. You can incinerate them and they will come back to like, I swear to god 🤦🏻♀️
A Peter Pan retelling like you've NEVER seen before!! Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing.
This manga is going downhill very fast. The first few volumes are truly incredible. Now it’s just...wtf. That’s the only way to describe what happened to this story. It feels so rushed, while the first chapters were so good. I’m really sad. I hope the author pulls himself/herself together to write a decent ending to this story... but that doesn’t seem very likely. I’m still giving it two stars because I don’t completely hate it.
The volumes are getting a little more difficult as they follow the demons, their society, and their pasts more closely, but it’s still a thrilling read nonetheless. And the twist at the end of this installment left me reeling. I can’t believe this is the final arc. The end is near, and I’m not ready!
Woah, the story has taken another turn and the odds are once again stacked up against them. Looks like they're back to square one. So psyched for the infiltration of Grace Field!
Wow, there's not enough brain bleach that can get those images out of my head. Holy fuck, that was so fucking disturbing, yet cathartic. Just, wow though...
On a different note, the only issue I had with this volume was Norman's change of heart. I'm not saying it's unrealistic, since it seems like he's been secretly struggling with himself, but it seemed a little rushed. Again, not that I don't buy it, but it felt like that's what had to happen in order to have a "happy ending" to the story.
I don't really have much else to say. I really loved the Queen's death and felt it was the most cathartic death of the series, as well as the most gruesome and terrifying. I'm scared to see what's gonna happen to my babies after that cliffhanger, but I love how everyone's prepped for battle! Also, quick side note, I LOVE the cover for this volume. I feel like it perfectly portrays Emma's, Norman's, and Ray's characters and their actions throughout the series. Only two volumes left in the series, can't wait to see where it goes!
Don't get me wrong, I still love all the artwork and I still love Norman and Ray. But this volume did what I was worried they would do, which is introduce a bunch of interesting factions and perspectives with varying levels of empathy and boil everything down to only one of them being "the right one" and "omg Emma ur so pure-hearted thank u".
Although the queen arc was kind of anti-climactic and we're not returning to Grace Field House under the circumstances that I expected, I am excited to go back again. The first GF escape arc was by far my favorite.
I am sad to say that this is wrapping up. 😔 This series is sooooo good 😃 👍🏼...
✅Excellent character development (especially the twists in the antagonists, their backstories, etc.)
✅Phenomenal plot progression.... Superb (except for the times I thought there were chapters that can become repetitive especially if the creators are running out of ideas and are using the same battle formula, strategic formula, etc. over again...) On one hand, the creators may be tight on deadlines? Or maybe they are just squeezing whatever profits they can gain in this volume by forwarding plot progression
✅ Unique story concept / admirable storyline (demons literally eating children, and on top of it... A demon heirarchy.... even so far as to make demons royals, aristocrats, land owners etc. where the creators have the opportunity to showcase poverty and the widening economic gap between rich and poor through its mangas/comic book/stories, etc. to children
✅ Characters (particularly from pre-teens to teens) - what I love about Yakusoke no Neverland are character dynamics... The concept of "growing" characters inside and out...The characters here are fluid... A character does not stay consistent throughout the series, rather we see protagonists become antagonists and villains return to heroes... it will definitely impact readers (cause readers are also growing given that this is an ongoing series...)
✅ Growth - Those who have started reading this since the series' debut on August 2016 will likely understand ... You are growing up with these characters.. and these characters are growing up with you... There is a time jump midway of the series. Although I would love to see more of their adventures during the year-&-seven of year-&-eight month time skip...I think that would be repetitive chapters.... The series would lag behind, would deplete sales, and decline readership interests if the creators rinse, repeat, and reuse the same story formulas ... The longevity of the series is just right for "growing" readers (or elementary readers, middle-school, high-school readers)... They will be the ones who will truly connect with children characters who are also sharing the same intellectual and emotional growth...
✅ Readership - Whenever I look at the cover page of Yakusoke no Neverland, I think of the readers... Target readers are definitely pre-teens or teens, but the series is so gory, that even adults like me can be frightened of the macabre art...
This is almost the finale!!! I have almost no words to say, I am pumped up... I wanna know what is going to happen... I want to avoid cliffhangers and spoilers as much as possible... I want to enjoy this series to the best of the creators' abilities.... There would have been so many adventures that these characters underwent, but finally, the curtain will be closed (we will definitely find out in the next volume or two) 📖😄

I really love this whole story but I feel like everything is getting rushed as we get closer to the end... 😢 I also would’ve preferred the author to keep what « the BOSS » was planning to do, it would’ve been a great confrontation with Emma and her friends.
