Shiloh Ridge Ranch in Three Rivers #2

The Horsepower of the Holiday

Rate this book
He told her once he wasn't interested in dating her if they weren't exclusive. She's a former racecar driver just trying to find the right man for her at 200 miles per hour. Can Oakley slow down enough to have a relationship with Ranger, or will they both be left lonely this Christmas?

Ranger Glover has worked at Shiloh Ridge Ranch his entire life. In his spare time, he's secretly developed an app for the cowboys around Three Rivers to share their experiences with everything from restaurants to events so they can all impress the women they like with their dating abilities. Too bad he hasn't been able to truly benefit from Two Cents in his own love life.

When he runs into a sobbing Oakley Hatch after an evening out, the chemistry and attraction between them is just as explosive as it's always been. She asks him for a ride home, and Ranger finds he can't say no to that.

He has told her no before, when he learned she was dating multiple men at the same time. He didn't want to be one of them, and he told the gorgeous brunette no.

Oakley Hatch has won more Grand Prixs and amassed a huge fortune from her time on the Formula One racing circuit. She can strap into a racecar and drive over two hundred miles an hour. That didn't scare her. Not having Ranger Glover does. So does telling him what kind of person she'd been while racing cars, as it wasn't anyone to be proud of.

She's ended all of her relationships to try to get back on Ranger's good side, and when he learns that, he immediately asks her out. A date with him is all Oakley wants, and as their relationship speeds forward, all of her secrets come tumbling out.

Ranger handles them like a champ...but he doesn't tell her anything about Two Cents. When she finds out he's been keeping something from her, the betrayal cuts deep—and throws her right back into her past. Can Ranger and Oakley find common ground this Christmas? Or will there simply be too much horsepower in her blood to make their relationship work?

Ranger want's to date Oakly but won't as long as she dates more then one guy at a time. Ranger agrees to date her if he's the only one she will date. They both want the same thing to fall in love, and raise a family. Both are insecure but finally start to get together. Great characters and we get to revisit with the Glover family.

Ranger and Oakley handle their loneliness in different ways. I loved how he wouldn't date her in the last book because she dated multiple people at a time. I was hesitant at first about them as a couple when this book started. Loved how he rescued her, well was there for her when she needed him, which he did throughout the book. Really enjoyed getting to know these two and catching up with his brothers and cousins. Lots going on in this book but the author did a great job of not making it confusing. There is a hiccup when Oakley finds out Ranger has a secret but loved how it worked out. Love grand gestures. Looking forward to the next book but so want Cactus to have his book soon.

In spite of a few differences in personality, Ranger and Oakley are similar in quite a few ways, including in their desire to settle down with a spouse and children.
Both are insecure and lonely, but ready to change that, even if it means breaking out of their comfort zones...
It makes sense that she is more forthcoming with her secrets––she's the bolder of the two.
He's gonna need a big bold move to make it up to her....

This book's storyline was okay. I liked Ranger's character. I liked Oakley's character. I liked the ending. I would have rated this story higher but this story had a lot of characters & events going on in it. It made it confusing & hard to keep up with everything.

I love this book. Another awesome book by Liz Isaacson.
Keep the Kleenex handy because there will be a few time you might need it.
Oakley dates multiple men at the same time because she doesn't want to be alone or eat alone and if who she has lunch with doesn't work she knows she has another on the hook for to take her out for supper. But when Ranger tells her he will not be date her while she is dating someone else and then walks out, it makes her reconsider what she is doing. She then starts to date just one at a time but gets left by her date at a comedy show. Ranger happens to be there and offers to give her a ride home but she has to tell him why her date isn't giving her a ride home. They soon start seeing each other and things start to move quickly for them. She finally tells him her secrets and about her past but he doesn't tell her any of his secrets. Will she break things off with Ranger when she finds out his secret that he doesn't want anyone to know? What will Ranger do to convince her that he wasn't hiding it from her and that he did once start to tell her but they were interrupted?

The Horsepower of the Holiday: Glover Family Saga and Christian Romance: Shiloh Ridge Ranch in Three Rivers Romance Book 2 is by Liz Isaacson. This book is just fun to read. There is really no major suspense, it is just telling about the ins and outs of a large but divergent family.
Stone and Bull Glover ran the Shiloh Ridge Ranch together as well as their investments until their deaths. Now their sons and daughters run the ranch and live on it. The ranch itself is huge and runs at about 51 million dollars while each of the children has their own investments and do very well. The average of the we children must be 3-5 million or more. The children of Stone and Bull each has his/her own particular skill which is utilized on the ranch and they live mainly in various houses on the ranch. Some of them prefer to live in town; but still have their portion of the ranch to take care of. Bear and Ranger (cousins) are basically in charge of finances along with Ward; Bishop is in charge of building projects etc.
Ranger has had eyes on Oakley Hatch for some time. Besides having been a championship race car driver, she owns a car dealership in town. However, she has been dating several men at a time so Ranger told her to see him when she planned to date only one at a time. Now she has and is dating only him. Things are moving along quickly with the help of the Two Cents App that has shown up. It is designed to make it easier for a man to date a woman in Three Rivers. No one knows that Ranger is the one who developed it. Will it help in his romancing of Oakley?

I am loving this series! Love that there is a chapter about Rhett and his family (seven sons). Liz Isaacson develops such depth in her characters. I am already in love with Cactus and can’t wait to read his book.

This is book two of the Glover Family Saga, which is part of the Shiloh Ridge Ranch in Three Rivers Romance series. This story brings together Ranger Glover and Oakley Hatch at long last. Ranger was interested in dating Oakley months ago, but her dating history has been fast and furious like her former career as a race car driver. She has been dating multiple men, some at the same time, and Ranger wasn’t interested unless she was willing to be exclusive with him. When his brother Ward drags him and Ace out to a new comedy show, he runs into Oakley, in tears and left behind by her date half way through the comedy show, leaving her without a ride home! He gets his brother to drop her off on the way back to their ranch, and stops to talk to her and ask her out for a date at long last.

The next day he checks an app he created secretly, for the cowboys of Three Rivers to use, to share their experience of places to take their dates around town, whether that be restaurants to recommend, events going on, and even reminders of things a girl expects on that first date, like clean clothes and some flowers! Some of it may be basic, but other parts of it are romantic and could be good for resident’s love lives, especially since Three Rivers is apparently currently number two of the most romantic places to live. The viewing of his app has skyrocketed to over five thousand and some ten minutes later is getting close to ten thousand, more than he ever expected, especially so quickly. Shame it hadn’t exactly helped his love life so far, but he is about to make use of it!

Oakley has a serious relationship in her past that she doesn’t like to speak about and ended up leaving her giving up on her driving career for almost a year, after it went pear shaped, once she realised the truth of what was really happening. Giving up her career again, after a further three years at the top of her game, she lost her parents support, no longer meeting their expectations, especially her fathers. She was cut off and left all alone and has been trying to fill that lonely place in her life. Ranger lives and works on the ranch with his brothers and six cousins, and although he is rarely alone, his heart is. His secret app is something he hasn’t mentioned to anyone else, even his family, with only two people knowing about it, one relative and one friend. Even his real name is a secret, with all his brothers having nicknames that begin with the first letter of their real first name!

The secrets that he has and doesn’t reveal, even after Oakley has revealed hers, come back to kick him in the back, as Oakley suddenly comes to find out about both of them, and neither from him! Keeping secrets is certainly not something you should do in a serious relationship and Ranger has already told Oakley that he loves her and marriage is a topic they have both discussed. With the problem of trust in her previous serious relationship years ago, the fact Ranger hasn’t revealed these secrets when she has told him all of her, hits her where it hurts. She feels betrayed and it just reminds her of her past love. She has to decide whether the speed bumps he has put in her way will damage their relationship too far, for her to be able to get it back on track! This is another great story by this author and you get to enjoy the relationships between all the brothers and cousins, as well as all their love lives, but especially Ranger and Oakley’s. It is a clean, Christian romance with a HEA ending. Each one gives you one couples journey to love, but there is so much more involved, family, prayer and hard work. I look forward to reading the next one in the series, which involves Bishop and Montana. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Ranger Glover is a tall, handsome and wealthy cowboy who has a secret side career that few in his very large, tight-knit family know anything about. Never liking to be the centre of attention or spotlighted, he prefers to keep his hobby (as he calls it, because ranching is more than a full time job) a secret. Ranger is also lonely and actually has only one woman on his mind..Oakley. To his knowledge, that woman is a serial dater of multiple men, and he doesn’t want to be one of many. Rather he would like to be the only man that Oakley dates. He unexpectedly gets his chance to date the former race car driver (now car dealership owner), when he discovers she is now only dating one man at a time and her last date left her in the middle of their night out.

Oakley is rich, fiercely independent, with a tough businesswoman exterior and a rather intimidating persona. Yet underneath it all, she is also lonely, has no real personal friends, just acquaintances and is estranged from her parents. She has been fiercely attracted to Ranger for quite awhile now, but he has refused to date her while she dates others. They are at first tentative with other, keeping their attractions and vulnerabilities well hidden, but a passionate kiss shows both of them the chemistry between them is hot and something more than either of them expected. Ranger then tells Oakley that he won’t kiss her again until they have dated for a while and gotten to know more about each other....he doesn’t want a relationship based on lust but rather on something deeper and more lasting. She is dismayed, but also thrilled by his gentlemanly behaviour, his genuine interest and his courtship. The compassion and understanding he shows when she reveals a very painful part of her past, has her thinking that he might be her “one”. His family accepts her, his sisters have befriended her and she is beginning to dream of a future with her handsome cowboy...until she makes an unexpected discovery.

Read this fast-paced, engaging and sometimes poignant book to discover how Ranger and Oakley’s story unfolds and catch more glimpses into the lives of other members of the Glover family. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Small-Town Texas Romance

I tend to be a sucker for romances that aren't just about the couple but have deep roots in family dynamics. This is one such story. In fact, the entire series is about brothers and cousins who run a ranch. This is Ranger’s story, the oldest brother on one side. He's been carrying a torch for the heroine for a few months, after he rejected her when she wouldn't be exclusive with him. Things change quickly at the start of the story, and their courtship dance commences. The author has created fantastic characters who are both believable and relatable. It certainly takes vulnerability on both their parts to open up, risk honesty (to an extent!), and really try. They come across as decent people who are finding their way, even if they have secrets! A well-done story. I appreciate that the author included a family tree at the beginning to help keep straight brothers versus cousins. Because of the complexity of the familial relationships, I think it is best to start with book 1, which is also good.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Ok so this is a series of brothers and cousins, but you can read any of them alone and not be lost. I love that about Liz's books!! But for sure the whole series is worth your time!! So this one is about a retired race car driver, Oakley and one of the men, Ranger, who is a cowboy and owns a ranch with his family members. Ranger is VERY interested in Oakley, she is is a lonely soul who longs to be loved. So to keep herself occupied she dates A LOT!! Ranger only wants an exclusive relationship. The issues they've both had play havoc in this new relationship can the make it past their issues?? This is a very clean book, it has plenty of surprises and glimpses into the other siblings and cousins lives, and honestly I cannot wait to read the next book. Don't worry no cliff hangers, just enough information to make you want to read the next story!! I am loving the way Liz Isaacson weaves her characters, and I also love her strong female characters!! This is a must read!!

Many characters hide their true selves

When we first met Oakley in book one, she came across as an intimidating businesswoman who seemed intent on dating all the males in the area. As we get to know her, we see a much softer side and come to understand the reasons for her behaviour. Ranger is a great guy who is kind and understanding when Oakley reveals the mistakes in her past. I liked the way his mother and sisters befriended her and gave Oakley the family support she had been missing, even when Ranger messes up and they are having problems. I also enjoyed getting to know some of the Glover siblings and cousins better. I really like the way the author stresses the history of the ranch and how traditions are preserved yet marries that with modern upgrades, Ranger’s app, and Oakley’s racing career.

This is a clean love story and so much more. This revolves around the lives and loves of the Glover family. It has such character development with a couple of main characters in each story but the secondary characters are numerous and play vital roles. The plot is unique and and the challenges to the relationships feels real. I found it easy to become immersed in this story. Not wanting to put it down. I’m thrilled that it is a series because I definitely want more. But it is really not a standalone. These stories build on each other and should really be read in order. I think it would be confusing and off putting to jump around. They build one upon the next including all members of the family. The story line is rich and you can picture the ranch and town easily with all the details. Absolutely love this series and just moving from one book to the next. This is a clean Christian romance with some kissing but in my opinion would be suitable for all ages.

This is the third story I read about the Glover family and it was just as good as the first two. I enjoyed the tie in at the end with another story. What I also liked was you got a bit of insight into their names.

Ranger is one smart man who is not only a rancher but a computer nerd. He developed an app that can be used in his small town and everyone loves it. But he is not confident enough to let anyone know that he is the developer. He works alongside with 2 other Glovers.

Oakley has had an exciting life as a top racecar driver but she has secrets about her time racing. What I really like about Oakley is that she is real and has a heart of gold. But her big problem is that she doesn’t feel that she deserves to be happy.

It is a fun story to read about how these two work things out. Also, there are little snippets about the other Glovers in the family that make you want to read their stories.

Love Shiloh Ridge Ranch! Ranger really wants to date Oakley but the former race car driver has been hurt and is lonely so she tends to date many guys at the same time. Ranger lets her know that won’t work for him, he wants to be exclusive. Ranger has a lot of insecurities and doesn’t share things until he knows those things are good. Oakley has shared everything with Ranger and she has been lied to before so when Ranger doesn’t tell her something right away she has to decide whether it is a deal breaker or just him being cautious. I love the family dynamic in this series and it is great to catch up with the folks from Seven Sons Ranch. Liz Isaacson writes about people with complex issues that they have to resolve. I really love this series with older main characters that have history. Don’t miss this new clean, inspirational romance!

Ranger, a rancher, is not going to compete with a slew of other men to date Oakley, a former race car driver. Either it’s him alone or he won’t date her. He does come to her rescue when her date gets up, leaves and doesn’t come back. He is taking it really slow because he is 40 years old, he really likes her and he wants a family. His biological clock must be ticking. They are both holding onto secrets that could jeopardise the relationship. Big surprises! Characters from previous books pop in but their very small roles don’t interfere with it being a stand-alone. The focus expands from the couple to his brothers and cousins who are also having relationship issues. Very well written and most enjoyable reading.

Ranger and Oakley are learning that alone and lonely are not the same thing, and you don’t have to be one to be the other. I really enjoyed the messages in their story about coming to terms with your past, your truth, and sharing those things with the people who are important to you. One of the things I like best about this author’s work is that nearly all of her stories are about the families that live in them. This may have been Ranger and Oakley’s book, but we get to learn so much about the Glover family as a whole. We also get to check back in on one of our other favorite Three Rivers families while we’re here, too. I’m falling just as deeply for the Glover family as I have for the other residents of Three Rivers and I can’t wait to come back here for the next book.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

Ranger is one of five brothers, who decided to not just spend the money that they inherited, but to work. Together they bought a ranch in Three-River County and together maintain it. Ranger is in charge of the vehicles and this way met Oakley, who owns the best dealership in town.
When she finally agrees to his terms to see him exclusively he is thrilled and both work on their relationship skills and towards each other. As Oakley has quite a bit of baggage, that creates some hiccups.
As all of Ms. Isaacson 's books are entertainig and well-written, this one is no exception. The story can be read as a stand-alone but it blends ins seamlessly with some of the other stories of Three Rivers, and of course the story of the Glover Brothers.

The Horsepower of the Holiday (Christmas at Shiloh Ridge Ranch 2)
In The Horsepower of the Holiday by, one of my favorite authors, Liz Isaacson we meet Ranger Glover. When Oakley Hatch moved to Three Rivers to get away for the hectic life of being a champion race car driver and broken heart. Dating many men helped her forget the jerk she left behind, and she thought, would help her find her someone. Ranger wanted to be that someone, but not either lunch or dinner, but the one and only. When these two meet in very unusual situation, fireworks started to fly and the fun. Two broken hearts and one goal…heal and not get hurt. This book shows two people from very different backgrounds and broken hearts can heal and fall in love (hey where would a good romance be without someone falling in love?). Kept me reading until the end….

Liz Isaacson is a master at tying her series together. The current Three Rivers family is the Glovers. We’ve already seen Bear find Sammy, now it is Ranger’s turn (You have to read the series to find out the real names of Bear, Cactus, Judge, Preacher, Zona, Mister and Bishop and their cousins, Ranger, Ward, Ace, Etta and Ida). I love that these characters are mature with experiences that have left them single and wary, or downright hermit-like. They are billionaires with the same hang ups as us regular folks, minus worrying about money. Oakley Hatch owns the local auto/truck dealership. Oh, yes, she is a retired champion Formula One driver. Ranger co-owns the family Ranch, Shiloh Ridge Ranch, and is the developer of an App, Two Cents. Watching the Glovers date or attempt to date is fun, exciting and unpredictable. I loved this story and look forward to the next one.

The Horsepower of the Holiday, Shiloh Ridge Ranch in Three Rivers, Book 2. A continuation of the family saga of the Glover family. In book 1 Bear and Sammy get engaged and set a wedding date for March. Book 2 picks up with the dating of Ranger and Oakley. Cactus comes out of hiding to try at love again. Ace, Bishop, Ward, and Ida all take a chance at dating. They agree not to give up until they find that right person. Etta starts dating Brandon and Zona brings Duke to the family Christmas party. This was a surprise, but, a good surprise. Ranger's app he made and launched is a hit. Oakley finds out that Ranger made the app and storms off mad because he kept it a secret. A good story, but not a stand alone book as it ends with a question unanswered. Reading in order is required to keep up with that many characters lives. So far the series is a high 5!

This story set in the Shiloh Ridge Ranch universe is another fun, romantic Christmas story. Almost every story in this universe has been a light, enjoyable read- and this one is no exception. Ranger and Oakley find themselves falling quickly in love but they have secrets that could come between them.

A few things I love about this story is how much Ranger is dedicated to finding the one person he wants to be with and he won't let anything stand in his way. When Oakley wants to date multiple men at once, Ranger says no thank you. He is no doormat and Oakley comes to realize how much having that one person to call your own makes a difference. While Ranger does make some mistakes along the way- every relationship has some ups and downs. These two fit so well together and the journey to their happily ever after was such an enjoyable one to read.

I have been looking forward to Ranger and Oakley's story so much, I have loved getting to know them better and see them walk with the Lord on their journey, I have cried and smiled through this. The story was not just their story, it was everyone's story and I like the fact I'm getting to know more about all the characters even though it's not 'their' book, I appreciate the way it is written so I'm reminded of past events and who's a brother and who's a cousin in such a way that everything flows so smoothly. I am really enjoying this series and very much looking forward to reading the next one.

This is what crazy looks like!

How can anyone not love Shiloh Ridge...packed full of sexy cowboys and the women who win their hearts!
Oakley and Ranger appear to be in the fast lane, peddle to the floor when they finally begin going out...but both have secrets, are they secrets they can share or secrets that will destroy? They are such a sweet couple, I am glad they manage to get past the speed bumps they encounter and I cannot wait for book three and Bear and Sammy's wedding!
Which is going to be the best book in the Shiloh Ridge series? Maybe we should put it out on Two Cents and let them vote on it!
I read this on Kindle Unlimited and really enjoyed catching up with the Glovers and the Walkers too!

Liz really knows how to spin a yarn. This book was great. It has all the family together for Christmas activities and all the fun they share.

Ranger has liked Oakley but did not want to be one of the many men she dated. She dated many to have one to fall back on if one did not work out. She did not want to be alone. She had secrets she would not tell anyone, as she did not trust that she would not be dumped immediately.

Ranger had his own secrets and insecurities. He is owner or part owner of a huge ranch operation. He is also the owner of an app he had developed for Cowboys to learn how to impress women they want to date.

This story is so cute and funny. I know you will love it. So hurry and get it so you can laugh too.

The Horsepower of the Holiday

Oakley, a retired Race car driver moved to Three Rivers hoping to settle down and get married. So, she started dating multiple men trying to find 'the one'. When Ranger comes to take her to lunch and finds she is still serial dating, he turns her down.
They ran into each other on an evening out with others. Oakley's date left her high and dry and in tears without transportation home. She asked Ranger for a ride which he accommodates as he won't mistreat a woman.
When they start to date, things seem to be going well until they weren't. Can Oakley forgive Ranger for omitting a very important piece of information and can Ranger find a great way to to win Oakley back?

The rancher and the race car driver

It seems that Bear and Sammy getting together has made his brothers think about finding a woman of their own. Ranger is drawn to Oakley a former race car driver who owns a car dealership in town . He wants to date her but she is a serial dater who dates more than one man at a time and he doesn't share Oakley has issues as a result of a previous relationship that ended badly. Ranger is one of the sweetest men ever. I love the family dynamics of this series. There is so much love and support even though they all have different personalities. It's the kind of family Oakley needs.

I'm enjoying this series. I thought Bear's story was a little more interesting. Their personalities are different so I didn't expect them to be the same.

The Horsepower of the Holiday features Ranger Glover, a billionaire rancher, and Oakley Hatch, a retired Formula One race car driver. Although they had a rocky start, Oakley and Ranger find themselves in a monogamous relationship. As you can guess, they will have some bumps in the road before finding their HEA ending.
Liz Isaacson has never disappointed me with her stories. They are well-written and the characters fully developed. There is clean romance and enough interaction between the main characters to avoid the "insta-love" label. While this book takes place during the holidays, a reader would enjoy this novel anytime of the year. In short, I loved it! 5 stars.
