Leer este manga me recuerda lo mucho que amo Fangirl, lo mucho que me identifico con Cath y lo mucho que quiero un Levi en mi vida.

Ahhhh this was SO CUTE. Reading these manga volumes is really making me want to reread Fangirl for the fifth time lol. The scenes of Cath reading to Levi were perfect, I was SQEALING. It was everything I hoped it would be. I just love these characters so much!

i did not like that i wanted to read this book. but i did want to read it.
and i do not like that i want to read the next one, but this cliff-hanged me and now i do. even though i know what happens.
likewise, i do not like that fangirl is one of my comfort books...but it is.
so here we are.
bottom line: sadly i am in this series for the long haul.

I received a copy of this book for free for promotional purposes.
Full disclosure: I have not read volume 1 of this manga. However, I have read Fangirl, the novel that this is based upon, and have always been curious about this manga adaptation. I am familiar with the story so I was able to read and understand this volume without having read volume 1.
If I could use one word to describe this book it would be cozy. It feels like such a comfort read, probably because the book is set during the fall/winter. It has those cozy vibes that makes you want to read this while curled up with a blanket and a hot beverage.
I loved the art style. The illustrator specializes in black and white manga style and that is very evident. The art looks like a classic manga. The illustrator did a phenomenal job conveying all of Cath’s emotions.
I liked that the manga followed in the book’s footsteps and used snippets from the Simon Snow books and Cath’s fan fiction. Since this manga doesn’t use chapters, it helped separate different parts of the story. Generally, I prefer chapters in manga to avoid it feeling like one long scene.
Overall, this was such a warm and heartfelt read. I cannot wait to read the next one since this one ends on such a cliffhanger!

I am so very disappointed in the end of this book!!! I just can’t believe that happened and I’m so angry about it. I was going to rate this like five stars, but then that. Grrrrrr!!!! I love the characters and the heart of this book. But then when something like that happens, it’s like a stomp on my heart!!! I sure as hell hope the next one has a better ending. Because I’m so upset about this one.
Poor Cath!!! My heart just pours out to her and I want everything to end up happy. But this book definitely does not have a happy ending. So watch out for that. If you’re expecting sunshine and roses, forget about it.
I sort of recommend this, but only because I still want to continue the series. How can I not after what happened?!?! I’ve got to keep reading and hopefully get to a better ending!!!!

A perfectly fine adaptation of a perfectly fine novel continues at its slow, character-driven pace -- by the end we're only halfway through the novel, with two more manga to go!
Embarrassing admission: Since it's in the manga format, I started reading it from right to left as if it were a Japanese import. I was ten pages in (10 !!!) before I realized I was actually reading the book backward.

Honestly, revisiting the story like this proved to be really fun last time around so now I'm very excited about this one.
That being said, I still have a gripe with them calling this a manga and not simply a graphic novel but, well, small picks don't really matter.

A book that constantly has me smiling from every page. I am so glad to be back with these characters and back into their world. The original book Fangirl was one I read years ago and absolutely loved it. I could totally connect with Cath and what she was going through. I’m happy to have an illustrated version because it’s always nice seeing books we love be released in different formats.
Just like the first volume the artwork continues to be perfect and truly fits the story. The style captures the characters emotions and the writing is short but includes the most important scenes/dialogues from the full book. I can’t believe I now have to wait for volume 3 to be released! My heart literally stopped when I got to the last page. Even though I know what happens next I still want to see how it is handled/adapted in this series.
I would definitely recommend this illustrated series to everyone. If you're a fan of the main book then I think you would really appreciate this. If you don’t know the original work then give this series a try because then you will definitely want to read the longer story.

*sigh* i honestly don’t remember the book. i don’t remember what happens (or if it even happens) after the cliffhanger of this volume. and honestly, if early i thought “aw”, now i think “ugh again”, authors LOVE to do this shit
the mother thing. if she doesn’t want to meet her, leave her alone, it’s her life. if the sister wants to meet her, let her meet her, it’s her life, everyone has the right to make their own decisions. and just because it’s her mother it doesn’t mean she has to forgive her, like, we got through that phase of the world, we can now say fuck u to our own family members if they gave us traumas
cath is way too nice. after the 911 incident the sister made, i would have just ignored her until she apologized, not just continued as nothing happened. that’s stupid
last thing… that forehead ain’t big enough. that damn forehead is the only thing i remembered of the book, and as a certified big foreheaded freak, i gotta defend my boy, and the one drawn is a small one, do better (jk)
