Stella Matthews has her life planned out for her. From her promise ring to her parent-approved major in college, she knows there won't be any surprises in her life. That is until she catches her boyfriend with her new college roommate that life that was so thoughtfully planned, ceases to exist.
Alex Emerson has his life figured out. As a likely first-round pick in the next NFL draft, this All-American tight end is ready to graduate from college and move on to his life as a wealthy, single, pro ball player--the life he's always wanted. That is until he meets Stella. She makes Alex feel like there is more to life than football.
When the two run into each other, literally, a connection is felt that can't be explained. Alex has an overwhelming need to protect and love Stella. Stella has an overwhelming need to give Alex her everything. But with a spiteful roommate and a jealous ex in the way, can the two of them find their way to each other?
First I must say that I wish this book had less f@t shaming. It gets repetitive after awhile. I get that she grew up with it from her mother. But, there's A thing called "A little to much!" Which this book had.
Stella is just starting College and catches her boyfriend with her temporary roommate. When trying to escape the scene she literally runs into Alex. They start a romantic relationship. It takes some serious convincing Stella that he would want her (insert all the f@t thoughts) Eventually they get a HEA!
This was a winner to me, the characters of Stella aka Pixie was a plus size woman in her first year in college but she had been put down so much about her size with her family and some people she was thought all she could get as a boyfriend is a cheating boy that she grew up with and her family approved of that just wanted use her. Alex aka Donnie was a football star and my and Stella 's hero, when Stella found her boyfriend in the arms of her roommate s very mean girl she ran out of the room and bump into Alex, he protected her from her boyfriend. They became friends and dumped the boyfriend he so deserve it, I LOVED the way Alex was so sweet with her, that was a start of a great love story between them, there was some bumps from nasty people I mean her mom and roommate and ex but as I say love finds a way, also I love her best friend Lily and Alex Best friend Tank . In this story it had a little bit of everything I love it, great ending! Will be recommend this book to all romance readers.💗
I really liked the book until the ending. He didn't atone. He didn't grovel. He did nothing. And she immediately takes him back and everything is perfect.
The heroine had a 'i'm not good enough ' complex .she fell in love with the hero 5minutes after she found out that her long time boyfriend was cheating on her.
This is probably the sweetest story ever. Stella and Alex are adorable, loved the book. Alex is a star football player and Stella is the cute chubby girl. She has to overcome a lot of self doubts. Alex is gone for this girl. They have some downs, but love always finds a way. Good read
Stella is the curvy girl that just arrived at college to find her fiance coming out of her roommates bedroom attached to her lips. After running literally into Alex, the hot college football player, they start a sweet romance. Of course she is the innocent virgin and he is her knight in shining armor.nice read, nothing surprising here but a sweet story.
The typos, grammar mistakes and formatting was very distracting, I know mistakes happen when but when you’ve got Hanks as Hangs and Vicky and Vickie as the same character running around multiple times it’s hard to ignore it. The plot was predictable, oddly paced and fizzled out with her ‘jealous ex’, they ended up friends...right.
I also wonder why the author had the hero call her fat, especially when he knew it was such a devastating blow to her. There were better ways to rip the couple apart, ways that made it easier to root for them to reconcile, plus it made Stella look like such a wimp by forgiving him. Actually, the girl had a backbone consistency of a wet paper bag. How she forgave her cheating ex, her body size insulting boyfriend and never once stood up to the evil roommate is astounding to me.
The author is very talented, she just needs an editor.
This was an okay read. It just seemed a little too far fetched for my liking. What really made me angry though was when Alex calls Stella a b*tch and a fat a$$. It seemed so out of character for him. Then I thought the plot with Stella and Bradley just sort of fizzled out. It previously made Bradley seem like he was never going to let Stella go but he gives up after the Labor Day event. I would have liked for a plot twist with that rather than Alex becoming a real jerk. All of a sudden he becomes angry and viscous- plus a drunk. I really would have liked to see Stella grow more of a backbone. I really enjoyed how she told her parents what was up; however, I would have liked to see her tell Brooke off too.
This is such a cute book, I fell fast and hard for Alex. He is just a big o’l sweetheart with a mean protective streak a mile long. Pixie, (Stella) is just too cute for her own good. I am glad she found her legs and now stands on them.
I can’t wait to see what happens with Lily and Hank.
I would like to give this five stars because the story is just that moving, however, there are some glaring errors that need to be fixed first. Otherwise, this book is a ten in my mind and I now have read it more times then I would like to admit, errors and all.
I love the characters and adored Alex up until the misunderstanding. I think he was rash and idiotic and I'm horrified at what he said to Stella! I think she should have required a lot more groveling and I was annoyed that the pit viper evil roommate didn't get her just deserts in the way of something awful happening to her. Not to mention the ex boyfriend. I just felt the "evil ones" got off waaaay to easily!
I almost didn't finish this book -which is rare for me. The storyline was decent, but so predictable; been there, read it already. Truly the reason why I almost quit halfway through was the deplorable amount of typos. Misspelled words, improper grammar AND I'm wondering if perhaps there was a sale on commas! There were several formatting errors as well -perhaps I can blame those on my kindle....
Insecure Stella literally runs into college football star Alex and their story begins. The disbelief from Stella and the reassurance from Alex is the constant theme of this story. There are some truly touching moments but, the misunderstanding and insecurities are typical of this genre and this book has its touching moments as well as irritating ones. I enjoy this author but, this story is not one of my favorites.
Cheating in the beginning with the FMCs now ex. OW drama, angst. The MMC is the ultimate book boyfriend. The writing was pretty basic. There was some miscommunication and BBS, which I didn’t enjoy. That’s just not for me. It was a little repetitive, but overall, I did enjoy it. The FMC is very endearing even during the periods of self deprecation, but we as the reader are given enough information to understand where this is coming from and why she is the way that she is.
A football player meets his future wife as she barrels into him escaping from her cheating ex boyfriend
2 life long friends are matched by 2 families promised futures together but he is caught red handed in the act of cheating with her dorm roommate no less the day before college starts she runs away an literally runs into her future husband who she is meant to be with .18+
I like books that deal with serious issues in a serious way. This book touches at least three: body image, cheating and parental abuse. The writer describes the actions that cause the problem, emotional response and the heroines response. I could feel her pain and her firm resolution to push through to a better place. All written with a light and sure hand.
Wow what a great book. My first from this author but won't be the last. I love how she touched on a sensitive subject and has given hope to over weight girls that there is someone made to love you no matter what you look like.
Great characters great plot. I totally enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the storyline and how the characters interacted. I will read all Katy Miller's books. So much I actually laughed out loud so much.
Nice romance with football college student and art student. Some bumps along the way for the romance, but very enjoyable. The author makes the male leads strong, but caring and loving. Good read.
Fun book, great characters, and love story. This was great and I do believe in insta-love. Nasty haters do exist and honest friends care about it ups and downs.
This is my second Kayt Miller read. And I must admit that although this was a nice feel good HEA, I enjoyed 'Bedhead' more. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this book. Kayt has a wonderful writing style. I look forward to reading more.
This was such a good book. I loved the “pixie” “pix””angel” “princess” nicknames. Alex was the sweetest most alpha footballer. I loved him. Stella was so cute and unsure of herself and Alex just brought her out of her shell. It was a great book.
After the way the H treated the h, she forgave him WAY too quickly and easily. 🤬
Also? If I read ONE more book where the H says, "Like what you see?", I swear I'm going to 🤮🤮🤮. Seriously. Do romance authors not realize how overused this cliched phrase is???
This was a sweet and fairly quick read. The story revolves around Alex and Stella who meet when Stella catches her boyfriend with her roommate. From the moment they meet Alex is sure he wants Stella and works had to get her. There is very little angst in this book so if you are looking for a safe and spicy read then this one is for you.
I think this book was great I can relate to Stella I am grateful to find a wonderful man like my husband who loves me way I am so great job on the book
