They all made a terrible mistake. One they will pay for.

For the past ten years I’ve been a victim. A victim to my pack. A victim to my true mate, who rejected me in the most brutal of ways. And a victim to Shadow Beast, who used me for his own gains.

Or did he?

The beast of mystery never reveals his whole hand, but one thing is for sure… in my time with him, I've changed. Now I will no longer walk the path dictated by the powerful men in my life. Never again will I let my strength be taken from me.

I must evolve or die.

And we all know, with a choice like that, there’s really only one answer.

I’d like to start out by letting all other readers know I think we need to team up. I believe if we go in as a united front it’ll scare Jaymin Eve into changing that ending I just read. If that doesn’t work then at least we will have each other as we sob into our tubs of ice cream. So it’s like a win win, right?

Gawwwwwd! How could you do this to us Ms Eve!? First you give us a growly alpha ahole we can’t help but swoon for. Next you make us fall in love with him and get all gooey for him. Then you TAKE HIM AWAY FROM US!!!!!! *Screams incoherently at phone!*

I hate you Jaymin Eve! You better fix this for us... I mean for Mera. No fuck that, for US! Readers don’t deserve such cruelty!!! Gahhhhhh!

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*I Like It, I Do But*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

Again, I'm quite unsure of how I feel for this book. One one hand, Shadow is very hot. On the other hand, Mera annoyed the shit out of me. She was so quick to judge, to jump to conclusions without giving others a chance to explain. Shadow would do one thing she didn't agree to, and suddenly she owns him no loyalty? Wow. I would never trust Mera at my side. She's so... childish. She's so stuck on the need to be independent - which I understand - but there is no weakness in relaying on others sometimes. She's too stubborn.

One question; why didn't Shadow gather information from Midnight on what has happened in the Shadow Realm BEFORE he entered the world again? That said, I don't dislike this series. It is interesting, and I like the world. And I certainly like Shadow (a part of me loves him, I do, but if you read my review for book one; I'm shallow. If you read my spoiler ^^ then you know why. I just don't know what I truly feel. Perhaps I need to stop and think on it for a while. Right now it's too fresh and all I can think of is how annoying Mera and the stubbornness was. I hate that I have to wait until freaking March to read the next - and last book in the series though. I should've waited with reading it. Waiting is the worst. Wonder how the series will end...

Characters:
The list is long so I've put it in a spoilers tag.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (A) Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy (M/F)
Series: - Series, Book Two.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Shadow Beast.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Yes.
Will I read this again in the future? - Probably not.
Rating - 3 stars.

The erasing memories tactic is lazy writing and a cheap ploy to continue a story. And I detest authors that use it.

I absolutely despise this author for her heartbreaking cliffhangers and I will stand by that forevermore. This cliffhanger was even worse than the first book in this trilogy! How can she achieve such a feat? I'll tell you how! By writing such amazing characters that I can't help but care about and fall in love with. Darn you, Jaymin Eve!

Even though I took my sweet sweet time reading this book and dragged my feet as long as I could I loved this book so much. On a more serious note, I'll be patiently waiting for Book #3 releasing in March and slowly dying inside until then. In other news, the universe the author created with this trilogy is SO interesting! There are SO many potential spin-offs too! I can't wait to see what's going to come from this trilogy.

Mera stilled proved herself to be a kick*ss heroine until the end. I loved her snarky one-liners and her talent to poke at Shadow was still unmatched. She was very emotional in the second half of this book due to the circumstances she's found herself in. It was certainly understandable. Now I just need to know how everything is going to work out for her and Shadow!

Shadow definitely grew some in this story (*wink wink* but no. Literally. Read it, you'll understand). He's still not the most stable of people but he does seem to be developing more of a tolerance to Mera's jabs at him when he's being less than pleasant. By the end, he was on the verge of something big between them but then the cliffhanger happened!

The ending needs to be burned in h*ll for being so hurtful and anxiety-inducing. I don't know what to do with myself until the next book releases. If you need me I'll be in my corner slowly rocking. I'll see you when I see you.

My Favorite Quotes:

"I am what I am. If you can't handle me, that's your issue."

"I have a lot of scars. [...] Both inside and out, but they don't define me."

"I wasn't a sunrise. I was a forest fire."

We have a cover and it's AMAZING! There's something about the covers for this series that I adore! Then again, Jaymin Eve has a great track record for well designed and thought out covers for her books! I can't wait to get my hands on this com February 1st!

DNF @69%...for now. I'm just so bored, but maybe I'll finish it someday? I obviously don't want to, but I feel compelled to because I hate DNFing books.
**Update written after this review: I spoiled myself by reading other reviews and then I just had to see that cliffhanger ending play out lol so I ended up skimming the rest and omg...glad I just skimmed because it did not get better IMO**

Unfortunately this was just really juvenile, the plot didn't keep me engaged and I felt no connection to the characters or storyline. I can't muster up any interest in this anymore and I'm just hate-reading it at this point while constantly checking how much is left so I'm going to stop. Also I thought my "review" of why I DNF'd would be really short but it turned into the longest rant of all time. Oops.

I know I mentioned this in my review of the first book, but I still can't get over the fact that our Hero, a super hot, sexy, all powerful God is named...Shadow. I'm sorry, but that just sucks. It's a cute name for a black cat or dog who's adorable and follows you around everywhere, but for the "Supreme Being" of the Shadow Realm... You name him SHADOW. A name Mera jokingly gave him shortening "Shadow Beast" but then 'Oh, turns out everyone calls him that even his best friend's for thousands of years even though you just made it up'. Also, the H being called 'Shadow' and the h's nickname being "Sunshine" is just a bit too on-the-nose for me. Really? Shadow and Sunshine? Might as well call them Light and Dark. Oh, but wait, Shadow's real name is...Darkor. That's right DARKor. Wow. Very imaginitive and unique and creative.

Moving on, our heroine, Mera or "Sunshine" is just so immature, TSTL, overly dramatic and annoying. I love a sassy, funny, take-no-shit heroine, but Mera misses the mark completely for me and instead just annoys the shit out of me. Her constantly saying "dude" is supposed to be such a rebelious little quirk that makes her ?relateable? and instead is so lame to me 😓 also why is she constantly naked? Once or twice it's because she shifted, but mostly she's just naked all the time. Her main character trait this book was horny, and as someone who loves smut in my romance novels Mera made me hate it haha.

Some other choice Mera quotes:
"Dude, you better dick me right now before I lose my brains." ...sexy. cute. funny.

"So many facets of me, Mera Callahan. All the colors of my rainbow spread out before me, visible and vibrant. And I got them, I embraced them. Now, though, there was a new streak of midnight threading it all--kind of ironic, considering I was bonded to a mist called Midnight."
There's nothing "ironic" about that considering you were the one that named your mist Midnight. Another very on-the-nose, boring name to go along with this series.

"And I knew there was not a fuck in hell I'd find my way out of this maze." 🧐🤔🤦🏼‍♀️

Once we get to The Grey Lands Mera crosses over into TSTL, whiny, immature territory in a way she never has before and here's her own words about her actions:
"Part of me knew I was acting like a child." At 60%
"Right now I looked like the childish, petty asshole in the room." At 61%
"Yeah, I was being super dramatic,..." At 64%

And why was she being so annoying and immature and dramatic? *Spoilers* because:
"Maybe...just maybe, I'd finally learned what it was like to be truly broken by someone I trusted. I could still feel the zap of Shadow's power, the cold burn in his eyes, and the way his name for me had turned from 'Sunshine' into 'Mera'." GIRL. Are you dumb? Apparently, yes. First of all, "broken" wtf?? None of what he did was that bad...chill the fuck out. Second of all, he makes it super fucking obvious he's pretending not to be as close to her in front of a new, suspicious ass character. Yes, it's his "true mate" but he never once said he wanted to claim her. In fact, he fucks Mera after she says all this and tells her he belongs to her and would never kiss Miss Ice Queen but then dumbass Mera goes right back to immediately doubting him, thinking the worst, completely ignoring everything he said and being TSTL, dumb and immature and I honestly couldn't take anymore so that's when I DNF'd.

World building stuff I hated:
Mera just being able to do things without trying and no explanation, she keep getting new abilities and "stronger", same for Shadow. I find the world building in general to be very simplistic, but outlandish with nothing to back it up. It lacks in creativity, in my opinion, and whenever the author has a new idea, *poof* of course that thing exists, or can happen, with no world building foundation or structure.

The kingdoms in the Shadow Realm: Trinity, Holister, Fraple, Glist'n, and Ashan.
I'm sorry...those are just the lamest names I've ever heard. Trinity, whatever, sure, fine. Holister makes me think of jeans. Fraple sounds so stupid and like the name of a new apple frappucinno drink at Starbucks or something. Glist'n...like glisten...why?? Ashan, kind of fine, but again 'Ash' 'Shadow' 'Midnight' 'Inky'...all very boring, obvious names.

The Grey Lands: every house in this winter wonderland is shaped like a...snowflake. What the fuck, might as well say they're all shaped like a candy cane or a black hole for all that that makes any sense. Mera says, "I had no idea how the interior worked with such an odd structural shape" YEAH, me neither. How about we just have normal houses in the ice/winter world instead of such an on-the-nose weird ass idea like making all houses SNOWFLAKES. This is Mera communicating with her mist that she bonded to (not even gonna get into that): "Let me know when you arrive at the largest snowflake building." ....I just can't.

Shadow giving Mera the ability to understand and speak all languages (he has new powers all the time with no explanation): how did he do it you might ask? Simple he just "rearranged her brain chemistry"... 🙄

I have other shit I highlighted, but at this point I've ranted long enough. I feel mean, but I just needed to vent a bit about how much this book bugged me. In the past I've found some of this author's work a fun, easy diversion, but it's just not cutting for me any more it seems.

What the heck!! That ending was just 🤯

Ok, I liked how spicy this book was (compared to, Rejected). I mean it was very caliente 🔥🔥🔥 However, there was some issues that bothered me. Mostly, I didnt enjoy how overly complicated everything was. I constantly felt lost with explanations about the Mists, the Nexus etc...it all felt like too much to follow along with. In contrast, the first book was a more clear read.

I'm too invested to stop now. I will definitely read book three in the series. However, I'm kinda sad I didn't love this one as much as the first. Meras character can be grating at times so hopefully I make it 😄. Overall it was enjoyable for the steamy scenes. The one true negative was how everything became so complex too fast. Im very intrested to see how Jaymin Eve approaches book three.

I was loving the book. Then I got to the end and I was pissed. That ending was completely unnecessary because I just know the third book is going to drag because of what happened in the end( which I won’t mention). I really hope the author makes the final book epic to make up for the unnecessary plot line that was the end.

3.85⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Style: Shifter/Fantasy/Paranormal Romance
Story: 3/5
Enjoyment: 3.85/5
Dark Level: 1/5
Sexual Level: GOOD
Triggers: No
Violence: Yes (Mild)
Male: Possessive and Dark
Series: Book 2 (Cliffhanger)
Pages: 386
Audio: GOOD (female/male)
Kindle Unlimited: Yes

STORY:
So I found myself intrigued with book two. For me, it’s now more fantasy and magic than shifter. The shifter element is still present, but I personally felt the story is becoming something else.

Mera’s personality is winning me over. I like her sarcasm as noted in book one review. The imagery in my head as the author creates this world was amazing. With that being said, I found the story to be exceptional, it’s the journey at times I find meh. Some scenes dragged on while others excited me.

SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
For a virgin Mera is always horny. The build up between her and shadow was good, and I found their sexual chemistry satisfactory and leave it to Mera to be sarcastic even in this moment, but even with all that it dragged out a bit.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
I love Midnight, Angel, and I was so excited that Simone was reunited with Mera. I really love her personality as well, especially when she was in Shadow’s realm.

OVERALL:
The good news a nice entertaining series. The bad news, more cliffhangers.

✰✰TRIGGERS: none

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

Wow, this one was action-packed and it certainly cranked the heat up like a lot.
This starts off exactly where we left things in the previous book and Mera is definitely coming into her own now.
Her new abilities and emerging powers showcasing her unknown origins.

After unexpectedly opening the door into the shadow world a new quest is underway one that will test both Shadow and Mera’s fragile bond to the absolute maximum.
Accompanied by Angel and their bonded mists and expecting betrayal at every turn this unlikely group will take on new enemies and discover hidden truths.

As much as I liked the first book in this series this one was definitely my favourite out of the two.
There was never a dull moment here and to further complicate matters we also get introduced to Ixana Shadows true mate and man she was a piece of work.

This was imaginative and creative with some fantastic world-building and that finale was something else entirely totally didn’t see that one coming and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Do or Do Not

The first book was okay, but I couldn’t make through 10% of this middle installment. Mera became a hysterical ninny, which apparently transformed her from a wolf shifter to some kind of all-powerful demon God.

When authors are trying to stretch out an idea that barely works for a single book into a 7-part series, they end up padding the books with extraneous nonsense that they would have been better off editing out. Mera had a hard time in her pack. That makes for a decent starting point. Hating her fated mate was also a fairly good idea. But the author goes from fairly realistic emotionally fraught issues to wildly fantastical nonsense with demons and shadow creatures and other realms.

Even as Mera is supposedly adapting to her new circumstances, the first chapter of this second book has her devolve into an emotionally unstable 12 year old, begging the question - where did the character from the first book, the one who saved herself, go? The author has Mera ready to kill the people who bled Dannie, then wetting herself in fear of herself, then questioning whether Dannie was even her friend all in 10 pages or less.

Frankly, as Mera shrieked and screamed and cried, I realised that I really don’t care what happens to any of these characters. Since Mera is unwilling to unable to try, why should readers try to stick with a multi-book series that goes nowhere.

JAYMIN- what did you do to me?! I just blew through Reclaimed in one sitting- ravenously consuming this story. Jaymin takes the beautiful foundation she laid in book one and she dials up EVERYTHING- the romance, the intensity, the adventure, the STEAM, and all the feelings. What an incredible adventure!

I love the dynamics that Jaymin is bringing to the narrative- a thoughtful balance of the intense and light hearted, fast paced moments paired with slow, and the parallel stories of an epic, fantasy adventure story with a tender, but unusual romance. I liked Rejected, but I LOOOVED Reclaimed. The elements just really came together for me here- complex but digestible magic, twists and turns, panty melting steam, and a beautifully paced and balanced storyline. But where this story shines comes down to what makes Jaymin such a compelling story teller- the world building and the characters. Jaymin builds a world with many dimensions, and she does it vividly and with ease. As we explore places old and new, as we learn more about it’s supernatural inhabitants, I can’t help but marvel at her creativity and at the pictorial prose she uses to bring it to life. And the dynamic, flawed, and fascinating characters- not just our hero and heroine. Weird, non-human, unusual creatures that have captured my heart.

Mera is hands down my favorite Jaymin heroine. I could not love her more- she’s been through so much, and is constantly thrust into inexplicable, and often life-threatening, situations, and she never loses her sense of self. I love the character integrity in her- she’s aware of who she is, and she owns it. I love her resilience, her sense of humor, her open heart, her love of those that matter to her, and her unflinching bravery. And I even love her snark and her impulsiveness. But what I love most about her is her curiosity. I love watching her mature as she fights to live life on her own terms, to understand who she is, and I love watching her make relationships that aren’t forced by a packbond. And I love her dynamic with Shadow.

Shadow. Well, he’s won me over- HARD CORE. Jaymin still gives him an otherness- but we also see his humanity more. I’m living for his possessive dominance, but I also live for the rare moments of his fragility. If you, like me, wanted more steam after book one- let me tell you- JAYMIN DELIVERS. LAAAWD- like her characters, Jaymin lit this on fire. Their chemistry is scorching, but I’m loving watching the emotional bond they are creating. Shadow and Mera, as well as the motley crew of supporters, are starting to become this fierce chosen family- and Jaymin is so intentionally developing it. Two characters, betrayed by their own families, outcast by those they love, learn that they can lean on and connect with others. They don't yet understand their destiny, or who they are to each other or this world, but they start to explore something they’ve not had much of- connection. And it's magical.

This story had me on my toes- a few twists that I did not see coming, one moved me to tears. If you think Rejected’s cliffy was intense, just WAIT until this one. A TOTALLY SHOCKING, JAW DROPPING, WTF, MIND BLOWING surprise of an ending that still has me reeling. I have no idea where this story is going to go from here, but I am confident that it will be epic until the very last page. Brava, Jaymin!

What happened?

I.did.not.like.it.. Ok I just feel overly let down by this book, and I kinda wish I hadn't read it. Mera is kind of a bird brain! she never fully goes with her gut, and when feeling things a miss it's like, oh well, maybe I'm seeing things, can't be? It's so aggravating I wanted to shake her of her stupidity. All the bad that happened to mera, mera seen a mile away Yet somehow her lack of putting a single thing together was pretty much the entire read. Oh and I forgot, the panting, sexual eyes and mera pretty much wet, and hot and bothered the entire read as well. I love chemistry, I love build up, I love a few heated moments! This was overly done and way over kill. I wanted to stop reading a few times, I even rolled my eyes a lot. I was sick of mera being nothing but a wanting vagina with no real character behind herself any longer. I hated how mera was upset about the true mates with shadow, now we learn that's not the case fully, but it was very odd seeing mera mad, and have sexual relations while knowing this. For someone having a messed up mate do the same thing? Come on! Yes I wanted them together! But how the heck do you condemn torrin and his w****, but make mera and shadow ok? The ending? Dear lord, I hated it!!! I'm so angry I even read this! And it has nothing to do with the cliffhanger, more of what the cliffhanger was! Are you kidding me. I just cant, I hated this entire freaking book, I'm sorry but wd*

Bottom line: mera is horny and childish, she pretty much delivers the bad guy w.e they need, saves nothing?? And I won't even bother mentioning the ended.

That ending slaughtered me. My soul has left my body, and will remain away until I get my hands on book 3.

But anyway, this was really good!! I love love LOVE the friendship between Angel and the MC (Angel carries this series), and Shadow has also definitely improved as a character. Can’t wait for the next book!!

Holy damn fireflies! I tried to leave this ramble for a day, to see if my brain could finally come up with something more impressive to express myself...but dang...I don't know how I'm going to review without letting a spoiler fly...but hopefully, the fireflies will catch them before that happens lol. Wow. Just wow! I loved this book so much...but Miss Jaymin we need to have words....coz that ending...I was not prepared for that! Nothing ever could prepare me for what you just made happen! Nope. That's just mean...I'm definitely not okay with that ending. At. All. This was me trying to ward that ending off.

My internal devastation levels are matching to this little bubba's - I'm actually totally feeling that kick-in the chest feeling just by looking at this gif

I really hope for my sanity I have this book like pronto. Maybe tomorrow? Do you think we could arrange that? If not I may have to find me my own Luci lol...coz we know he could totally make it happen, he even says so 😂.

If anyone is expecting sanity out of me right now...that is the most absurd thing I've heard all day! Unless your picture of sanity is more like this ↓ haha. Then you'd be spot on. 😂

I honestly, don't even know where to start. Someone help me. I'm falling down the crazy rabbit hole. Spiralling. Jaymin you making me cray-cray. Yes, I'm blaming this all on you this time lol.

Mera is rubbing off on me, with her word usage of "Dude" lol.

This book is the kind you can lose yourself in and lose track of all time. The time continuum ceases to exist. It's a book that will demand to be read and won't be ignored. For good reason to. It's got gripping material. A story that will have you so invested, that you go a little crazy when it all comes to an end. That's a good story for you.

I really loved so much about this book. I really enjoyed the growth of relationships and especially loved Angel and Mera's friendship. Something truly special about watching that grow...and of course, Shadow and Mera too. He really wasn't expecting a girl like her crashing into his world, but I betcha he'd have it no other way. I also loved a completely new being, that was brought in, and the relationship that grew between Mera and said being. Yes, I'm being deliberately vague here lol. It's a fun pastime of mine.

I also really enjoyed seeing Mera and many of the characters, in fact, grow. Growth in all characters is important for me. I want to feel them grow with the story and they certainly did that. But I really loved how far Mera comes in this story. She truly finds herself and a pack that she can rely on. I love her fiery determination, will and fight. It's something I really gravitated towards with her character. She's been surrounded by people that try and get her to obey and follow commands...but she's determined to stand on her own, and not let anyone push her around. She's done with all that. She refuses to let her control be taken away and be a victim ever again. And it seems some are finally getting it in their heads...she is so much more than what she was ever made to feel, within the Torma pack.

"Listen to me," he rumbled, and there was so much command in his voice, I had no choice but to obey. "You're the least useless being I've ever met. The way you adapted to the Solaris System, making friends, helping and learning, is nothing short of admirable. You went to the top of my never to be underestimated list, and I promise, that's a small list."

Hmm, so this is the part I've been holding back from... the part where I give a basic summary of this book, without ruining it. Unsurprisingly, for me, it's quite hard lol. Okay, well, basically, it's time for Mera to continue on her path...and its gonna be hella rocky. We remember that brutal ending of Rejected right? How could we forget? But maybe it's not all as it seems. Shadow is one to hold his cards close to his chest, and his cards are slowly beginning to be revealed...and Mera may no longer want to murder him (so that's a positive, yeah?)...but she is seriously done with powerful men pushing her around. Mera finds herself and stands true to who she is to the core. Not changing herself to fit anyone else. And man I love her sarcasm. It legit cranks up in this book, and I was forever chuckling at her ways. She's just a character you can't help but love.

I think we all knew she just wanted my death to get me out of the way, though, and there was one seven-foot-tall reason for that.
"Let's do it!" I said with fake excitement. "I live to save worlds. It's my calling, and I so appreciate you making this happen for me."

With certain things happening in the world, from Mera's power display in the beginning...it's time to finally find the answers... behind that door to the Shadow Realm. But nothing is as it seems and many illusions are being woven, in more than one way. Truths and deceptions will be uncovered...and maybe, finally, some answers about why Mera feels so connected to this Shadow world...including her connection to the creatures, she can somehow control. Her power is slowly unlocking and the answers she seeks will truly blow your minds....and they are all within this book 😉....Maybe, Mera will be the very reckoning needed, that the royals will never see coming.

Well, on the plot at least hahaha

This is a book that you do not want to miss! So make sure you have it preordered, it's releasing on the 12th of January. Everyone needs to be sucked out of reality...and into an incredible story that'll keep you on your toes, wanting/needing more! It's a story to easily get addicted to and lose your mind over...So be prepared for some turbulence, that may be experienced during the ride, and a body crash once you've finished lol. I know I was. But it's all worth! I promise!

I know I spent a good while whinging about that cliffy lol...but I really loved everything that Jaymin torturously put me through, with this book. Even if I still feel her book needs to spend some major time in time-out. I'm dead serious about this! Just grrr. Anyways, I saw this posted in her ARC group and it is so spot on to how I felt after reading this book lol.

Thank you, Jaymin, for all the craziness you put me through. I love reading your books and being apart of them and the journey they all take me on. Wouldn't want it any other way. Well, aside from getting your books at a click of my finger, and I don't mean one-click on Amazon 😂. You guys should all know by now, I'm crazy impatient when it comes to the next book releases. It's actually, kinda strange how one can be considered patient in most things in life... but knows not the meaning of the word in the bookish world lol. Anywho, random tangent. Ugh, may the next book come out soon! I will just be over here counting down the time to the next release....even if I don't know the official release date for Reborn lol. I suppose I've done weirder things 🤷🏻‍♀️😆 It's okay, you can pretend you don't know me lol.

Just lastly before I close up...I just wanted to note that this book is aimed at a mature audience, due to sexy- times content and swearing. So do please keep that in mind for younger readers.

Okay, let's call that quits aye? I'm about rambled out. Be sure to click follow if you want to keep up to date with my crazy bookish rambles. I should be back soon with more. I have Heather's upcoming release of Dark Fae Unrivaled next on the list.

I'm out. Happy Reading Book Dragons.

This book felt like a completely different book compared to book 1. Maybe it suffers from middle-book syndrome? The H/h are finally able to enter the shadow world, so they bring along the h's friend Angel and set out to defeat the baddie.

Most of the book is the H/h trying to get to the baddie and find a way to get his birthright and powers back. And we finally get some sexy scenes in this book (but I didn't particularly care for them). We get answers to the history of the shadow world, answers about the Shadow Beast, and lots of answers about the h and who she is, where she came from, what her powers are, and why she even exists.

The book ends, again, on a major cliffhanger that acts as a sort of reset button. Book 3 should be interesting.

“Don’t fucking touch my skin with lips that have kissed her.” He growled, shaking me so my head jerked up and our eyes met. “These lips have touched nothing and no one but you.”

Shadow might have ruined me for all other book boyfriends for a while and I am not even sad about it. DAMN!! The Shadow we see in this book is much more attuned to everything Mera and it was intoxicating. In Rejected, book one of the series seeing their connection was easy but in this book their pull towards one another was almost like gravity, natural. From the moment they enter the Shadow Realm it is as if Shadow can sense the movements that Mera is about to make almost before she makes them.

Mera is just as much the badass and sassy babe we know but she is also so much more. The power that she has amassed has made her more comfortable being a part of the Shadow's world even in the moments where she is unsure how she fits. Finding answers to who she is still her top priority but helping Shadow is also a huge part of that plan and in doing she might face the biggest force she has ever faced.

THAT FREAKING ENDING THOUGH MAN!!

At this point a cliffhanger from Jaymin Eve shouldn't surprise me but it always does!! Book one ended slightly cliffy but I could totally handle it but this one was intense and I am TICKED!!

Again, not really a review just random thoughts typed up to make me feel better about what I am sure is going to be a helluva ending in Reborn where we will get the end of Shadow & Mera's story.

This second installment of the series Shadow Beast Shifter is completely out of this world. The book has everything I want, plot twists, character development/growth, backstory, the moment the main characters get together, and a doozy of a cliffhanger.

"My words came out shouty, but it was starting to turn into an epic sort of joke how all of these powerful things just bonded to me, or kidnapped me, or rejected me without asking for my damn permission."

"I love you too, Mera. You're the friend I never even knew I was missing in my life. You're my ride or die, and I will bury every body for you."

Mera is one lucky girl with the new pack she is forming for herself. Simone and Angel, are the best friends we all need, want, and deserve. Why can't I have some pets like the shadow creatures and sentient shadow mist bonded to me? Mera tops it all off by hooking up with the sexiest, most powerful, badass asshole in all the universe. So enjoyed this journey, I'm ready to continue onto book three.

"Shadow's skin was dancing with flames, and I knew it was a response to the magic. I felt the whoosh of energy coat me as well, my own flames that matched his, rising across my body."

2 & 1/2 stars generously rounded up.
I had to take a day just to figure out how I wanted to review this, & I'm still not sure about how to write this review. I feel like I've been cheated on -or something, that leaves you emotionally drained & frustrated (but with the series). And wow, talk about a cliff-hanger ending that killed the whole series- for me anyway! I know other readers may not agree with me on this, but it's how I feel about it - my opinion. Things were bopping along in this book 2, I actually liked it enough to read to the end to see where the chemistry that's building between the main characters is headed, then I get to the last chapter & WHAM! I felt like I was hit over the head with an empty bottle of wine without the benefit of having drank the wine first. I did not see that ending coming, and I was very pissed about it. I wasn't so sure from book 1 if I even wanted to read book 2, now I regret reading both book 1 & 2. I feel like I wasted my time with the 2 books now. I know it's the author's story, I get it- really I do, it's her prerogative to write her story the way she wants, but I also think that there needs to be some middle ground -to the writing, for a reader to appreciate the story, for the author to "sell" books, as authors aren't doing the writing & publishing for fun. This ending alienated me as a reader, making me not want to continue with the series...

This was good, going to another world was a nice change. Thankfully our FMC did not take as many hits...well not til the end. If your not into cliffhangers wait til book 3 comes out. I really like the side characters and hope they get more page time...or maybe their own books?????

OMG😱
Si el libro anterior tenia un cliffhanger, este dice x2 x4 x6
Definitivamente no se pueden leer estos libros sin tener todos a la mano...

Sunshine y Shadow 😍😍
El slowburn se quedó en el libro uno... jajaja

Guerra, deslealtades y traiciones... Y ese finaaaal...

_____
“Our demons match, Sunshine”
_____
“These lips have touched nothing and no one but you.”
_____
“Whatever diplomacy I felt was dashed the moment you got involved. Now, it just might be a bloodbath.”

Me vi bastante elegante con las citas. 😎
Pero hay otras que... 🔥 🤣

Todo lo que diga después seria spoiler, así que ps... aquí la dejo.✌🏼

To start...this book utterly blew my mind. It was an incredible book full of plot twists I didn’t see coming. A few were foreshadowed and gave you the “I knew it” moment but others took me by utter surprise.

My favorite part of this series and book are the characters Jaymin created, especially Mera. She’s so full of fire but young and has gone through so much for her age. Does she act out? Sure she does but she should after everything she goes through. Yet she also learns and listens too. She has this sassy innocence that just makes her so lovable. She’s not naive because she’s faced so much at such a young age but she’s still full of innocence of wanting to do better and help others. Even if it means she’s putting herself in danger. Mera just impresses me in the best of ways on how she handles situations. Honestly she’s my new favorite character of Jaymin’s!

Then there is Shadow who is as unique as Mera. He’s just as broken but handles everything so differently but in this book you see his internal fire come alive and it is amazing. It’s so great to see how Mera brings out this fiery passion in Shadow.

This series has such amazing world building and character growth. I’m just so astonished how Jaymin packs so much in her stories and the characters she creates. She always leaves me craving more.

HOLY MOTHER OF BOOK FUCKING HANGOVERS. Jaymin fucking Eve(yes I changed your middle name and I do not care), you have some hardcore explaining to do with that torturous and devastating and crazy and any other crazy adjectives that need adding to describe the ending!

Blurb:
They all made a terrible mistake. One they will pay for.

For the past ten years I’ve been a victim. A victim to my pack. A victim to my true mate, who rejected me in the most brutal of ways. And a victim to Shadow Beast, who used me for his own gains.

Or did he?

The beast of mystery never reveals his whole hand, but one thing is for sure… in my time with him, I've changed. Now I will no longer walk the path dictated by the powerful men in my life. Never again will I let my strength be taken from me.

I must evolve or die.

And we all know, with a choice like that, there’s really only one answer

Review:
The twists and turns and surprises are strong with this one. So BE PREPARED! I could NOT put this book down. I just HAD to know what was going to happen next and I was so sad when it was finished because the ending KILLED ME.

Mera. She is still 100% that BITCH and I love HER! She is strong and she is mighty and she will still let NO MAN tell her what to do. AMEN SISTER! I really can’t say much about her without spoiling everything, but just know that you NEED this book.

Shadow. Same domineering monster, different day. lol I love him all the same though.
Angel. SHE NEEDS HER OWN BOOK LIKE ASAP. I have a full blown LADY CRUSH on her. I really want to know her story SOOOO BADDDDDD. Jaymin, make it happen PLEASEEE!

Some exciting news: Get ready for some STEAM! Get that fan out and dim the lights because Jaymin does bring the steam with this one. Whooee.

Ok, that is all I’m giving you now. GO PREORDER THIS BITCH RIGHT THE FUCK NOW! The amazing woman that is Jaymin Eve is graciously releasing it EARLY! January 12th BABY! That’s only SIX FUCKING DAYS! YASS! *Does a very overly eccentric happy dance*

I came back to this several times to finish it and, I have mixed feelings about this. I love the friendship aspect; especially with Angel and now, Midnight. There was progress between Mera and Shadow, although their relationship felt secondary to their respective missions.

And I think it's here that I had the most issue with. It felt like the most activity occured the last 30%, which of itself isn't the issue, but it just felt like things were made up along the way. Yes, Mera wanted to discover her origins and there were prior hints but it felt like she accepted it all too easily? There was a lot of action towards the end and it just went about without much difficulty. To put it one way, I didn't have the emotional connection with what was going on so none of it felt exciting or dramatic.

What really lost me at the very end was with Dannie. That reminded me of what they pulled with Daenerys in the final episodes of GoT. I was totally 'wtf is this nonsense'?

This does end on a cliffhanger, but I'm not remotely interested in completing this series. It wasn't bad, but it all felt tepid.
