Life had never been easy for Florian Kulberg, a 200-year-old vampire. He’d fallen in love far more times than he could count, and each week he thought he’d found the one. Leaving his mark on them in all the ways a good daddy should. He believed in soulmates. But was it possible for someone who never aged to find a forever love?
Awaken after centuries of slumber, Otto the Adventurous is ready to explore. A passionate and powerful djinn without any training. His only want is to please his master. The only problem being, he doesn’t have any experience. Can a good guiding hand help him?
Will Florian discover his soulmate in a new flame? Or will it ruin his belief in forever love?
Darkwood Daddies is a multi-author MM paranormal romance series. It features vampire daddies and a variety of supernatural mates. Taking place in the fictional US town of Darkwood, you will discover a variety of romance tropes, including age gap, daddy/boy, biting, and much more.
Discovery is an important part of life, but when nobody know who or what you are or what you can do with your individual in and creature powers, the experience can be scary unless you do it with an immortal friend with the jewels that make you happen. Mates forever.
The story merits a five, but the editing? Ugh. Definitely a 1. I usually can ignore spelling errors, missed words and questionable grammar. But when I need to reread a sentence several times and add words.... I didn't throw in the towel. And overall, it was a sweet book. But I'm not sure that I will read another Joe Satoria book without looking at the reviews.
I’ve never read a book with Djinn, this was cute and a good intro to a new series. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes and learning now about the Djinn (hopefully). My biggest and pretty much only complaint is : why TF is the tittle “DADDY’s little Djinn!? There absolutely no daddy kink what’s so ever. Daddy is t even mentioned once in this book. I just find it annoying because “Daddy” books are my favorite to read and a lot of times the reason I pick a book. It’s just a little misleading to title a book like that if it has nothing to do with the story. This isn’t the first time by this author that I think it’s going to be at least a daddy kink book…when it’s not. But apparently I never learn 🤷🏻♀️
This is a holiday series that made me want more from the world. Hopefully, it will be revisited later. Florian is a collector of different things but there is one thing that he thought was lost forever an amulet that helped him through some tough things in life. It just took the right time to awaken the Djinn who was asleep inside. There is a pull that Otto can’t understand he knows that he is drawn to Florian and has a lot to learn. I love the slow burn element to this story. When it comes to Otto learning about himself and the things that he likes. Florian knows that Otto is his missing piece and does everything to make sure that he knows it. Need more from this world.
I feel like this is a book that was published before it was beta read due to the number of spelling and grammatical errors that I noticed while reading. While the concept is good, the execution was a bit meh. I didn't really feel connected to the characters, I felt like I was looking at only the traits that interest that they would have on the surface than something deeper. I had no idea of what they looked like aside from their basic body structure, their body temperature, and their age range.
I might give the second book a read thought, maybe any errors that were present in the first book have been addressed in the second novel. The barebones of world building is there and I am hoping that that is explored further.
This was a fantastic read but it is by NO MEANS a daddy/boy book and definitely shouldn’t be marketed as one.
I liked this book for everything that it had in it but I really was looking for a paranormal daddy kink book, and this was not it. There was no mention of any MC being called “Daddy” at all and nothing connected to that either which was very disappointing.
I also had a hard time really connecting the two characters as lovers because they never really spent any time actually BONDING. I didn’t feel like the multiple times how many people F had slept with or sleeping with other people besides our other main character. it wasn’t needed and was kinda tacky.
the story was decent besides that and I am willing to read more of this series but am very disappointed with being misled.
Lots of spelling and grammar errors. This drove me crazy as I was reading along and basically tripped and fell over words that did not make sense in the sentence which then tossed me out of the book's world. It appears as if auto correct or predictive text was used while writing and then no one proof read it when the story was done. I fought with myself to finish the story because I liked where it was going just not all the errors that threw me out of the story. Hopefully that makes sense.
Vampire Florian Kulberg is 200 years old and life has never been easy. He had fallen in love many times and each week he thought he had found the one but apart from being a good Daddy to them, he had not found his soulmate yet. Djinn Otto the Adventurous has been awakened after centuries of slumber and is ready to explore. He is a passionate and powerful djinn but is without any training. He only wants to please his master even though he has no experience. Can Florian's guiding hand help? Will Florian discover his soulmate in a new flame? Or will it ruin his belief in forever love?
I enjoyed this story with the vampire Daddy who acquires a djinn and realises that he met him many years ago. I loved that he helped Otto explore things and that he tried to expand both of their learning on what a djinn was and how they were created. I liked that Florian tried his best to support Otto while sometimes guiding him to a particular answer. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.
This one was interesting, and included a lot of world building. Florian is a vampire who collects magical artifacts and teaches history at the local university. A man comes in wearing a purple pendant that matches the ring on Florian's hand. When the ring and pendant come together, out pops Otto, and Djinn. Otto doesn't understand what he is, or where he came from, he isn't a genie who can grant wishes, but knows his job is to help his "master". Florian and Otto try to uncover Otto's secrets, while also trying to keep Otto safe from those in the magical world, who might take advantage of him, and also protect him from a mysterious enemy, determined to get the pendant for himself.
Aww! I loved this introduction to Darkwood. It seems like a cool place were all types of paranormals and humans live. This was a relatively quick story. I pretty much read it all at once because I didn't want to put it down. The story was engaging and had interesting characters. Florian and Otto are so sweet. I liked how they were essentially reunited after 100 years even though Florian had no idea Otto was in the locket. I can't wait for the next two stories!
I loved this book. Florian Kulberg is a vampire. He has lived for 200 years. He wishes for true love that lasts forever. Little does he know that his heart is locked in a pendent that was taken from his long ago. Otto a djinn and is awakened by his master who calls himself Florian. Otto doesnt know much about himself and must learn. Can Florian help him or will all be lost when a dark stranger show up trying to take back what he believes belongs to him?
I am stunned, speechless at this fascinating story!
This is the first of a paranormal multi-author series, my assumption is that one should read it in order. I so rarely read a unique story so this one was an utter delight! The djinn, Otto, is a creature I have so rarely heard of in fiction so every word was an adventure. I adore the relationship with his Vampire Master and I hope we see more of them in future books. I am now so excited to tackle the next book in the series!
I think there was a plot? Hard to tell due to the utter lack of any editing or proof reading. There really is no excuse for publishing something like this. I don't think there is a single paragraph that doesn't have some kind of mistake in it.
The blurb does not match the story either. Also, no daddy in sight. What an absolute disappointment, especially since the concept is good.
Daddy's Little Djinn is the first book in the Darkwood Daddies series, a paranormal series set within a college town. This is a cute book with daddy kink and innocent little djinn who finally finds love and happiness with his vampire daddy. The book has a few blimps of dramatic angst, but for the most part it's full of fluff and steamy moments.
It was okay. Didn't really feel the connection between the two main characters, it didn't feel like they really liked each other.
Also, daddy/boy where, Otto was submissive by nature but Florian never really acted like a daddy in my opinion, they didn't even call each other daddy/boy.
I just couldn't keep going after 50%. The story and world have promise but I think the writing needs an editing cleanup. There are lots of disjointed sentences that made it too difficult to keep any level of immersion in the story.
What a great fun read by Joe Satoria. This book and story has heart and will make you happy. Some parts kept me n the edge of my seat but the beautiful HEA was just perfect for each other. Loved this book!!!
I really enjoyed this. It was very complex. There are some sexy times and biting. To me it had more of a fated mates than romance feel. I liked how we learned about Otto as he did.
Dear Author, you desperately need a proofreader/beta reader. I'm sure you would have many volunteers if you ask the MM Romance Group on Goodreads. Hell, I'll happily do it if you message me. It makes me so sad when a great and fun story is rendered unreadable due to easily resolved errors.
