Obsessed oligarch!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓😎

The heroine: Penny Servant - she grew up a mafia princess and was stolen from her family by Kaspar who has been obsessed with her since the day they met. Penny wants nothing to do with the Oligarchs and their business. Her brother Darren is the oligarch of her family and her sister Erin works with him.

The Hero(s): Kaspar Baskin - a ruthless mafia oligarch with unlimited funds. He took the object of his obsession captive and wants to make her his wife. He refuses to let her go, but otherwise treats her good. He likes willing women in his bed so is content to wait for Penny to change her mind about him.

The Story: Penny and Kaspar met at University when he was a senior and she was a freshman. He immediately became obsessed with her and wasn’t afraid to show it by basically stalking her, calling her many times a day and continually asking her out. Now he has her and will not even think about letting her go.

“The Oligarchs were powerful. They ran mafia families from the shadows and funded illicit activities for fun and profit. Oligarchs were deeply connected and universally feared.”

This book was a bit different from your standard mafia romance in that the college years were told for the most part from the POV of Alice, who is the roommate of Penny and who is there for nefarious purposes. She is a psychopath and knows it, her relationship with Penny gets stranger as time goes by. And boy is Alice ever cuckoo for coco puffs. She is cra-cra in a big way, and it is definitely fun to read.

The rest of the book is told in Dual POV (Kaspar and Penny), there is a whole storyline about Kaspar and the oligarchs. Kaspar is determined to make moves that put him on top with some of the other Oligarchs and that means breaking some of the old rules and using people to his advantage. Kaspar comes across as a monster at times, but he is likable as well. So I can see why Penny can’t figure out what she wants or feels.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Well, I gave this book 50%, and I couldn't keep going. A whole lot of nothing happening. I wanted to see how things would unravel between Kasper and Penny, but I'm just so bored!

Penny Servant has lost a lot in her short life and having her sister betray her by handing her over to Oligarch Kaspar Baskin is a new low in her life. Kaspar has been obsessed with her since college. He betrayed her by killing her best friend and Penny vowed never to speak to Kaspar again.

It has taken years but now Kaspar has Penny back, she is less than pleased to be in his care though. He is determined to show her the truth of what happened years ago and open Penny's eyes wide open when it comes to trusting him. It is an uphill battle though with a war raging with another Oligarch. Can he prove himself to Penny while keeping her safe?

Best of the three. I hope there is more to come in this series. It is dark, it is suspenseful and you are not sure what to make with Kaspar. The story vacillates between past and present, making you wonder what will happen next.

Kaspar & Penny’s Dark Mafia Romance Is A Thriller About The Ongoing Struggle For Power Amongst The Oligarchs. It Is An Enemies-To-Lovers Story As Penny Is Sold To Her Long-Time Stalker by Her Scheming Sister Erin.

ABOUT THE OLIGARCHS SERIES:

The world’s most exclusive club includes some of the most feared men and women on earth. They are the oligarchs. The mafias, the cartels, the bratva – you name it – they all bow to the likes of them. The oligarchs are drowning in wealth. That in combination with the boredom that plagues them has led to a corrupted view of the value of human life. As a result, they have evolved such that now they operate like gods on earth. Their money buys them whatever they want. So far removed from society-imposed consequences, all that is left to hold them in check is the high-powered game that they play amongst themselves.

Like puppet masters, the oligarchs use the various criminal underground groups to orchestrate their desired outcomes. They enjoy the back and forth and the power struggle that results from their interferences. It is a zero-sum game. You take a little here and there, upsetting the balance of power. But they have rules, too. Importantly, oligarchs aren’t allowed to make a direct move against one another; that is what their proxies are for. They can align themselves with the Irish mafia, for instance, to indirectly attack another oligarch via the bratva he helps fund, but only as long as it doesn’t create too much chaos. They must be measured (which is of course a relative term).

No oligarch can assume too much power without the others eventually deciding to restore the balance. Thus the game goes, repeating the cycle, but it always balances out in the end because there are rules that the members abide by, expectations they understand of one another. There are consequences if they step out of line. While they might fight with guns via their proxies, that isn’t how business is conducted with one another. They require a different set of skills to operate amongst their peers. Politics, alliances, and the ability to sway opinions are how they win the game from within. A direct attack on another oligarch, however, will provoke a bloody reaction from the group. Stepping that far out of line, upsetting the balance of power, is not tolerated. If an oligarch continues the course, causing too much chaos, sooner or later the other players – the other oligarchs – will decide to act against you.

FROM PERFECT MONSTER, BOOK 1:

The story opens during the winter in Sea Isle, New Jersey.

Cassie Ward, about twenty-one, left her father’s Boston home and moved to Sea Isle, New Jersey three years ago. Sea Isle was a fresh start for her, a chance for a quiet life. She bicycles around town and works at various bars to support herself. She hasn’t seriously considered dating since then. Her best friend, co-worker, and neighbor – Winter – encourages her to get out there and have some fun, but she doesn’t know anything about the incident. The car phobia, the scar, the words that damaged her self-esteem … Cassie keeps those things close to the vest.

Roman Lenkov, thirty-eight, belongs to the world’s most exclusive club: the oligarchs. He assumed his position of leadership when his father was gunned down at his cousin’s wedding three years ago. Oisin MacKenna, head of the MacKennas, an Irish mafia organization that is moving into the South, killed his father, and Roman won’t rest until he gets revenge. Darren Servant, another oligarch, is backing up the MacKennas, hiding Oisin, and making Roman’s efforts fruitless. But Roman has a plan. It will be messy, but it doesn’t matter anymore. Roman won’t just roll over and allow the assassination to go unpunished. Revenge will be his, even if Roman’s father was a monster.

When Cassie works a party full of powerful and dangerous men, an accident turns the ire of one such man against her. Another man, whose powerful presence seems to command the entire room, comes to her rescue. But Cassie’s troubles don’t end there. When she becomes a witness to a crime, a target is on her back. Her knight in shining armor, Roman, comes to her rescue again, promising to keep her safe. But as things begin to unravel, Cassie soon finds herself whisked away into Roman’s dark and dangerous world.

FROM BEAUTIFUL TROUBLE, BOOK 2:

This story opens outside of South Bend, Indiana, immediately following the close of book one.

Winter Kresswell, roughly twenty-four, has a lot in common with her best friend, Cassie. Winter, too, has a past that she hopes to keep secret. She was raised in upstate New York in a life of luxury, but she was not surrounded by love. Following her parents’ split, she was left with a father that was iconic in the world of finance, but who unfortunately saw Winter as a liability. He wasn’t there when she needed him most, so at eighteen she decided to leave her old life behind, changing her name from Spring Kane and adopting a new identity. She has lived a quiet life in Sea Isle, New Jersey since before Cassie arrived three years ago. They had worked together, waitressing at various venues around town, and were neighbors as well until Roman Lenkov whisked Cassie away. Cassie seemed to have gotten her happily ever after in that unlikely match with Roman, but it put Winter in the crosshairs of Darren Servant, another dangerous oligarch. Darren was involved in a treacherous war with Roman, and he used Winter for her connection to Cassie. Winter shouldn’t have turned down Roman’s protection when she left their beach house on foot, but that was a lesson she learned too late. Darren, it seemed, was not through with her yet.

Darren Servant, roughly thirty-three, is quiet but ruthless and has been after Roman for years. Darren lost the MacKennas to Roman once Cassie’s father was installed as their new leader, but he still has the Ukrainians, led by Hadeon Patrenko, working with him, and he has Roman on the defensive. To the other oligarchs, the battles are nothing more than an expensive game to quell their boredom, but for Darren, it means so much more. He has his sights set on taking Roman down, but even that won’t be enough. Roman must die. Winter had proven useful in the past, and taking her will help to keep Roman in check. Roman might be accustomed to death, but his new wife won’t want anything happening to her best friend. And when Darren learns that Winter’s father is Jason Kane, he sees other ways in which the young woman could be useful.

When Darren brings Winter to his home outside of South Bend, he gives her a list of rules to follow. Winter, though, is naturally feisty and challenges him every chance she gets. They have a battle of wills as he works to take down Roman, and she strives for her freedom. Their back and forth soon leads to some rather unwanted chemistry, and eventually, their dynamics begin to change. Darren had promised Winter her freedom once she had served her purpose, but he soon develops other plans. The pair battle it out while the mysterious Servant family history unfolds. But as they grow closer, Winter’s relationship with Cassie proves to be more of a problem. The couple eventually earns a happy for now ending, but the series is clearly unfinished. The danger remains. The story closes in the fall.

IN THIS BOOK:

This book opens one week after the close of book two. Penny has awoken on an island in the Caribbean.

Penny Servant, about twenty-seven, had been lucky in many respects. She is naturally kind and considerate of others, although a little naïve. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, one of the younger of the Servant children. Her father had been an Oligarch, and her brother Darren stepped into the role in his place. Darren is a good brother, but he is overprotective, too. She is probably lucky that she was allowed to go off to Blackwoods College to earn her degree. Only the two eldest in an Oligarch family are trained for the possibility of taking over one day; the rest have little use.

Since returning from college, Penny had spent her time largely locked up like a bird in a cage. She longed for purpose, friends, and a life. Her sister Erin, second oldest, wasn’t content to watch Darren take charge and had begun a shadow campaign unbeknownst to him. She is cold and calculating. Erin and the entire family had been impacted by their sister Livvie’s suicide years ago. Erin had once been more carefree, and Penny had lost the one person that she felt closest to when Livvie died. Penny had lived a lonely life in Servant Manor, just outside of South Bend, Indiana, but she would do anything to get back to it now. Thanks to Erin’s underhanded schemes, she had been sold to her stalker.

Kaspar Feargus Ulbrecht von Baskin the Fourteenth, about thirty, is a beast. He has been spreading chaos since he inherited his seat as an Oligarch. He hadn’t been raised by loving parents, and many would argue that he grew up to be a monster. Not unlike other Oligarchs, he was infected by his privilege and his twisted upbringing. He is capable of turning on the charm, however, as evidenced by his popularity in college and the women that would readily accept his attentions.

Immunity from the consequences that keep most of society ordered has allowed the Oligarchs to indulge in their games of power and control. There are rules about not killing one another, but then again rules never apply to them, and most Oligarchs are eventually brought down through strength.

There is one thing that matters to Kaspar above all else – and that is Penny Servant. He admittedly had gone a little overboard in his pursuit of her, but he knew immediately upon meeting her that she would be his. He had wooed her at Blackwoods when she was a freshman and he a senior, but her roommate Alice had gotten in their way. In the years since, he has worked to get her back, but there are still some obstacles to their happiness.

When Erin made him an offer, he couldn’t believe his good luck. Penny is now under his control, but that has never been the ultimate goal. He wants her hand in marriage and her willing submission, but convincing her of his intentions will be no easy task. He knows his words are meaningless, so he must find another way to prove to Penny that everything he did was for her. The couple faces danger as Kaspar works to both win Penny’s affections and ensure her safety. They eventually find a happy ending.

Redmond and Erin’s story is hinted at here, so watch for that to release soon.

Kaspar and Penny’s story is a page-turner. There are a number of characters at play.
Darren and Roman appear to have patched things up here, probably with some help from their wives. Darren once again plays a bad guy as he hopes to rescue his sister from Kaspar’s clutches. Erin is once again scheming in the background, hoping to steal a little power of her own. Old Bern and Maeve come into play as well, and a new Oligarch enters the picture. Redmond comes across as unserious, but there are hints that he might be more complicated than that.

Kaspar’s drive is revenge, and he isn’t afraid to break rules to get it. He has been plotting for years, but buying Penny seems to jumpstart his plans. He is a monster, but something about Penny tames him. She is the only thing that can really distract him from the ugly world in which he rules. Penny is rather complacent, but she does begin to find her voice here. Both had led lonely lives, and the need for companionship and understanding, along with an instant connection, draws them together. Kaspar doesn’t follow norms. He takes things too far, but he also has a clear line that he will never cross with Penny. Despite his monster ways, this is sweet.

Kaspar and Penny’s dark mafia romance is a thriller about the ongoing struggle for power amongst the Oligarchs. It is an enemies-to-lovers story as Penny is sold to her long-time stalker by her sister Erin. It is about betrayal – and there is a lot. It is also about revenge and hard choices. Their story is a bit of a slow burn, but there is still plenty of steam. The story is nicely written. It is plot-driven and complex. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between Kaspar, Penny, and Alice, with a chapter in Erin’s POV. I rate this book four stars.

There’s no better hero than one utterly obsessed and consumed by his desire for the heroine. That’s Kaspar, in a nutshell. It’s exquisitely perfect.

His obsession with Penny is all consuming, he would literally do anything for her. This is a dark romance but he treats her like a queen. The only thing he refuses her is her freedom. The chemistry and tension between them is absolute fire.

He wanted her from the moment he saw her. He’s protected her from the start even though she didn’t realize it.

Story 5/5, Heat 2.25/5, Darkness 1/5, Angst 1.5/5

Tropes: dark, mafia, captive, second chance, obsessed H, treats her like a queen, possessive H

Medium burn - there are sexy scenes starting around 40% but H and h don’t do the deed until 60%. One of the earlier sexy scenes is actually a flashback of them having sex when they were together previously.

No condoms, no virgins, no manwhore, push away from h, no OM drama, some OW drama, no breakups or separation once reunited. No sharing, no cheating, no cliffhanger and HEA. Epilogue sets up next book.

Safety - no cheating or sharing. The OW drama actually surrounds the h, I don’t want to reveal anything too spoiler-ish but the h’s roommate develops a thing for her and she watches H/h together without them knowing.

Kaspar falls for when he meets her while attending the same college. His obsession continues to grow until he takes her for his own. Kaspar is a powerful mafia oligarch will she fall for the man she deems a monster? Fast-paced read with lots of twists and turns, plenty of drama and action. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

This is the third installment of the oligarch series, following Penny, Darren Servant’s sister ( MC of the 2nd book) and Kaspar Baskin, another Oligarch.

The story jumps between the past ( 8 years before) and the present, told in multiple POV’s. It has a stalker to lovers to enemies to lovers mixed with second chance and a lot of mafia-ish elements. I have liked the series a lot so far and, like the first two books of the series, this books has a good HEA for the couple and the epilogue is regarding the next couple.

CW: sexual content, blood, murder, death, guns, violence, kidnapping, stalking

‘The Oligarchs’ is a series by B. B. Hamel that continues to impress me. “Pretty Sinner” is the third book in this series. It’s a complex and compelling dark mafia romance. The book is well-written so you can enjoy it as a standalone. If you can, however, I strongly recommend reading the other books that came before this one. Doing so will give you an even better understanding of the world of The Oligarchs and the connections between them. Basically, they are a tiny group of outrageously wealthy, powerful people who control the mafias and other criminal organizations around the world. Long-standing traditions, rules and even unspoken rules guide many of their decisions.

Penny is a privileged princess in an Oligarch family. She’s not the first or second born so she’s basically ignored and invisible – except to Kaspar, another Oligarch who absolutely adores her. The two of them have a complicated history. It’s a hate-love-hate connection that is gradually revealed to us, and it becomes more compelling with every chapter. The story is told from three points of view; those of Penny, Kaspar and another person who is important in the story. It also shifts back and forth between events that took place eight years ago and things that are happening in the current day. Penny is literally sold to Kaspar by one of her own family members as part of a business deal. She’s horrified because she knows he’s crazy. The story progresses in ways that Penny, and I, never imagined. This is one of those books that necessitates very careful word choices when reviewing, because it’s way too good a story to risk spoiling it for you.

Kaspar’s complete devotion to Penny makes him incredibly appealing, despite the violent world in which he lives. All of the Oligarchs are bad guys, but the author somehow manages to get you to want the ones she features as anti-heroes to have a “happily ever after”. I thought that pull was especially strong in this book. The main characters are developed so well that you can understand their strong motivations, difficult dilemmas, and intense emotions. The chemistry between Penny and Kaspar is incredibly powerful and the heat they generate might leave scorch marks on your e-reader. I thought the ending was excellent. The glimpse into the next book in this series has me looking forward to it already!

Penny Servant was alone, and had been alone since the death of her sister Olivia. She withdrew into herself and allowed others to dictate her destination in life, or that was what she did until her sister, Enid, betrayed her by selling her to the man she hated more than anything else in her life.

Kaspar Baskin had stalked Penny all through her freshman year of college. He had become obsessed with everything about her, and had nearly won her heart until everything had come crashing down around him. Now, his Penny hated him.

Penny didn't know the truth about what had happened that night. She never suspected the double cross that had set Penny in the sights of a powerful Oligarch. All Penny knew was that her friend and roommate was dead at the hands of the one man she had trusted more than her family. It was the event that broke her heart and turned her love into hate.

The twists and turns in this story are interesting, if not hidden in the shadows that the characters inhabit. No one asked Penny what she wants, except for Kaspar. And even though he asks, he's the only one who dares deny her the opportunity to thwart his revenge. If the oligarchy is going to survive the fires of Kaspar's rage, new alliances are going to have to be forged and old families toppled to the ground. Anyone who isn't on Kaspar's side will die a brutal death. Because there is only one acceptable ending to this war he has begun, that the entire world will sit back and take note that Penny Servant is not expendable.

The telling of this story is brutal. Kaspar is unhinged, and exhibits sociopathic tendencies. He is not a good person to anyone but Penny, and even then he's not adverse to causing her pain to make a point. The means he takes to save and protect his Penny are often brutal and deranged, but that is to be expected from broken creatures.

In the end it all boils down to a twisted tale of love and revenge told in a manner that the Bard himself would have approved of.

3.5 It was a good read.

The story line goes back and forth between the present and eight year's prior told from both character's POV. I love a good back story but at times thought that the constant flipping back and forth was distracting since there were so many characters involved. Penny's character seemed like she spent allot of time "feeling sorry for herself". She never felt validated as a member of her family and always felt that no one paid any attention to her. Kaspar changed all of that because he was obsessed with her. In his odd way he helped fill the void for Penny's need to receive attention and be recognized. At times throughout the book, it almost seemed like she didn't know how to handle the attention or the recognition he gave to her. By the books' end her character had finally embraced her self-worth and Kaspar.

True, her family is a train-wreck but, Kaspar has been obsessed with her for a long time and is very protective of her. His character is the usual OTT anti-hero that has a very healthy appetite for blood lust and loves mayhem but his treatment of Penny is never unexpected or horrible. Penny finally comes around when she finds out the truth about the people who have tried to kill her, and the length that her sister Erin will go to get rid of her. It's a tough lesson in family dynamics with her other siblings but finally opens the doors for she and Kaspar's relationship.

Erin is the real danger to Penny's family and the Oligarch's. She and Redmond have their own plans which could inadvertently affect Penny and Kaspar in any future novels.

He knew immediately she was his and he has waited all these years....but no longer

Pretty Sinner is the third book in The Oligarchs series and is the story of Kasper Baskin and Penny Servant. They first met at Blackwoods College when Kasper was a senior and Penny was a freshman. He became obsessed with Penny but she wanted nothing to do with him, as she already knew to stay away fro the Oligarchs. Kasper may have been rich, popular and have every girl on campus chasing him but not Penny, as she was the daughter of an Oligarch and knows all too well what they are like. But that does not deter Kasper and eight years later he has kidnapped her. But it is not ransom or revenge that he wants. He wants her, all of her as his wife and mother to his children.
This story goes back and forth between present day and eight years ago when they were in college. It also involves Alice, Penny's roommate at Blackwoods who has been sent there on a mission which involves Penny. But Kasper will protect his little one from any harm that may come her way by anyone. Things are going to be intense, complicated, violent, twisted and fantastic. The chemistry between Kasper and Penny is sizzling hot even as she hates him and keeps pushing him away. This is one story that will keep you up late into the night reading.

Pretty Sinners: A Dark Mafia Romance is the third book in the Oligarchs series. It's well written with world build characters and exceptional secondary characters. It's easy to read and can be read as a standalone but is best if you read in order. This is Penny and Kaspar story. Kaspar is a member of the the Oligarchs and is considered as depraved, twisted and a psychopath. He gorgeous and powerful monster in designers clothes. He's in love with Penny and wants to be with her but her friend got in the way and he killed her fast ward ten years later he now wants to force her to marry him.
Penny has been living in a glided cage since she came back home from school. She misses her sister Livvie dearly, little did she know that her life is about to change why her devil sister scheme against her with the person who have been stalker her and made a deal to sell her to him for her own benefit. Kasper love Penny and wants to be with her the problem is getting her to believe that his intentions are true. Penny and Kasper story as Captivating and riveting and kept the audience engage. There were so much chemistry between the two. The story is filled with betrayal, secrets, power struggle, murder, lies, stalking, auction and love.

Kaspar would kill anyone that threatened the woman he loved!
by sewsummore

Eight years ago Penny and Kaspar were lovers and then he killed her room mate and as far as Penny was concerned he was now her enemy. No matter what he did he could not convince her of the truth so in the end he took her and refused to let her go. Penny was the daughter of an Oligach, insignificant and ignored , but to Kaspar she was his everything. Penny had been betrayed by her sister and frustrated with Kaspar refusal to accept that she would never be his. I found this book an entertaining read but was frustrated with the story line shifting from the past to the present many times. Kaspar was the only man who saw her for what she was! Perfect for him and he intended to destroy all who would harm the woman he loved. This book was a complicated read with sub plots and twists through out the book. When Penny discovers the truth it changes how she feels about Kaspar and the people she called family. In the beginning of this book I felt that Kaspar was a psychopath intent on killing anyone who threatened or opposed him. At the end of the book I felt completely different and rejoiced in his love for Penny.

This book sleeps you on the edge, determined to keep flipping pages long after your eyes demand sleep. Penny is the youngest Servant( brother/oligarch Darren). Her brother Darren we met in the previous book with winter. She met Kaspar in college when she was a freshman and he was a senior. She also met the nefarious character Alice. Although Alice’s intentions are bad she befriends penny and develops feelings for her. Kaspar has been obsessed with penny since he first saw her and proceeds to do everything he can to get her. This obsession spans years and finally he takes what he wants. This book has so many twists and turns, omg moments, and major steam. What will Kaspar do to have penny? What will he do to avenge the attempts on her life? Will penny learn about Alice’s original purpose and evil plans? Will Kaspar break all the oligarch rules for what he wants and who he loves? Will penny catch feelings for Kaspar finally? Will Kaspar reveal his true intentions and feelings to her?

We always get a HEA. With this kick ass author, just have to really work for it first.

Pretty Sinner is Book #3 in the Dark Mafia Romance Series The Oligarchs. I would highly recommend reading books in order because the storylines piggy back off one another.
In all honesty it took me awhile to like Penny and not see her as a complete spoiled brat. As I delve further into this dark world BB Hamel finds a way to make me find a way to get behind the couple I’m reading about. Kaspar’s attention and need for Penny is overwhelming, but this complicated, dark antihero just wants her happy and protected. All he wants in return is her submission.

Book is told in dual perspective and takes us back and forth between the present and the past as we learn how Penny and Kaspar met and just where, why, and when things went south.

Kaspar is obsessed with Penny and he has been since college. Everything he has done is to protect her. She thinks he is sick and broken.

As Kaspar fights against the system the Oligarchs have developed, Penny learns the cold hard truth about their past, and realizes how much more depth there is to Kaspar.

The war is here and Penny needs to decide which side she is on.

Kicking and screaming Penny Servant found herself kidnapped by Oligarch Kaspar Baskin, her ruthless assassin and obsessive stalker. Interesting how the author presents the narrative of the story with the POVs of Penny, Kaspar and a secondary character that leads us to know the events that triggered the plot of the story and her role in it. Engaged in a struggle for power, intrigues, betrayals, alliances and violence, the protagonists find themselves struggling with their feelings, seeking answers and control over their situation. I liked how Penny opened her eyes, took a position and accepted what her heart dictated. Kaspar was a murderous mobster but his feelings and emotions for Penny were always present. I have not read the previous book and some references were unknown to me, but I think this book stands on its own. Lots of action, suspense, strong emotions, violence, romance, and heated passion in this story that kept me interested the entire time. I voluntarily reviewed this copy which I received free from Booksprout.

This is book #3 in the series. It does start where book #2 ended. I would recommend reading the previous books in the series before you read this one.

In this book we have Kaspar Baskin, who has always been a stalker / creeper of Penny Servant. They went to a private school together when they were younger, and Kaspar has always been after Penny.

Penny knows Kaspar murdered her then best friend and has never forgiven him. Kaspar wants to be an Oligarchs himself. Penny doesn't want anything to do with her family business, as her brother, Darren is the oligarch of her family and her sister Erin works with him. Her sister Erin sold Penny to Kaspar, as per their mother's wishes. Darren doesn't seem to know of this underhanded deal that happened.

Penny knows she has to hate Kaspar, but, when he kisses her, when he touches her, she can't tell him no. She wants him, even though she knows she shouldn't.

This is the third book of the Oligarch series and it did not disappoint. It is a stand alone story though it does help to have read the previous books. When Kaspar saw Penny in college, it was instant attraction, almost stalker-ish. He could not believe Penny could ignore him and he was obsessed with all things Penny. Penny could not believe the lengths Kaspar went to to go out with her. When she finally agreed, things went oh so right, then oh so wrong. Fast forward with years and Kaspar is still obsessed with Penny. He killed for Penny. When the opportunity arose to steal her, he took it.

This storyline moves and there is lots of action and mafia danger. Kaspar is a monster, though a monster with a soft spot for Penny. Will it be his downfall? or will he get the girl in the end. This is a good mafia story that keep your attention and is a fast read.
Enjoy!

This third book in The Oligarchs Series by BB Hamel is a perfect addition to this wonderfully dark and thrilling series, it tells Penny and Kaspar's story in such a way that I wasn't able to put my Kindle down! Both the characters are so well-defined you feel like you know them, you can certainly feel their emotions, they challenge each other at every turn but they can't deny, although Penny may want to, the chemistry pulsing between them.

Kaspar has always wanted Penny but has now decided that he's now going to do something about it, what's more, he'll stop at nothing not only to get her but to keep her! As for Penny, she thinks she hates him, but they do say hate is just a breath away from love!

Their story evoked so many emotions, it's got so much happening there's drama, intrigue and suspense, Oh and don't forget the palpable chemistry! This story has everything you could ask for in a dark romance.

This book had me hooked on page one. I couldn’t put it down. First you have to understand that BB Hamel has created a whole new world of mafia overlords. They control their respective territories and are not supposed to attack the heads of these families. Well now a new generation is taking over and they don’t like that rule. Especially Kaspar since he found that another Oligarch was targeting his girlfriend, Penny. Penny is the fourth child in another family so she doesn’t have that much power. But Maeve, the bad gal, wants to start a war and Penny is disposable. Or so she thinks. She didn’t see Kaspar coming. And he will burn down the world to protect Penny. This story is full of action, steamy scenes, love, hate and everything in between. BB Hamel has created a cast of characters that are so real you don’t want the story to end. I can’t wait for the next book in this original series. I did receive an advance copy for my honest review.

Anchor great addition to the Oligarchs Ms. Hamel has created
Kaspar Baskin a ruthless, merciless mafia oligarch has almost everything he wants.
But the two main things he’s seeking to get his hands on are just out of his reach.
He wants Penny Servant.
And more power in the Oligarch hierarchy.
From the moment he sees Penny at University he is absolutely obsessed.
His obsession with her just grows with the years.
Until he decides he just cannot wait anymore and takes her.
Penny is a mafia princess to another oligarchs family.
Her brother Darren runs it with his sister Erin.
Penny doesn’t want to have anything to do with Kasper or his empire.
Along with Kaspar and Penny struggling with their feelings towards one another.
There is the struggle for power and position.
Where can alliances be made, where betrayals lie and where violence and blood will be shed.
Drama, suspense and a slow burn romance makes this story hard to put down!

At the end of Darren’s story, Beautiful Trouble, his sister Erin went behind his back and poor Penny found herself Kasper’s prisoner. But it wasn’t that black and white.
When Penny attended Blackwoods college, Kasper was also a student there. Once he saw Penny he was smitten. He’d call her night and day, desperate for her to go on a date with him. Eventually, after a talk with her roommate she agreed to go out on one date but if she never wanted another, he had to honour it. She found herself slowly falling for him. They enjoyed each other’s company and their attraction was heady. Then he killed her roommate, (nope, not telling you why ;-)), and she never wanted to see him again.
Fast forward to present day and you can understand why she didn’t want to be in the same room as him. This is their story…
Another well written addition to the fascinating and complex world of the oligarchs. More bloodshed, more backstabbing, more back story, more passion. Absolutely superb.

A man whose love caused him to be obsessed, possessive, monster and killer ⭐️

Kasparov was a senior at Blackwoods College when he met Penny. From that day he was obsessed with her and he tried everything to get Penny to go out on a date with him. Penny’s roommate Alice was sent to the college for the sole purpose of killing Penny. Penny’s and Kaspar’s families were Oligarchs and the constant wars and Penny’s family put her in danger. Kaspar figured out that Alice had another motive towards Penny and he killed her on the night she was going to kill Penny. Eight years later Kaspar never gave up on the love of his life and fighting for the justice she so deserved as a middle and forgotten child. Her sister Erin sold Penny to Kaspar so she could start her own Oligarch family. Kaspar set out to prove to Penny his love for her. A great book with a beautiful HEA of love and sex. I recommend reading this book.

Kaspar & Penny ❤️❤️❤️

Kaspar has been longing for Penny since their time together at school. Penny has been avoiding Kaspar every since then because of their violence and sorted past. Penny can’t believe she has been betrayed by her sister Erin and she can’t believe she is going to be kidnapped and forced to be with Kaspar. She knew the world of her family was cruel but she never expected this. However, Penny only has half truths about the past and the present. She must decide if she is willing to trust Kaspar enough to let him explain and be open to giving him her heart because no matter how hard she tries she can’t not want and need him. He is so different from her perception and she owes it to him and herself to be brave and honest with him and her feelings! This book is filled with steamy scenes, lots of secrets revealed, & a treacherous plan that would bring everyone to their knees. Happy Reading!!

Never Ending Obsession and Revenge
At the end of Book 2 of this series Penny’s sister, Erin, betrayed her by putting her in Jasper’s care to be his wife. Jasper has been obsess with Penny since they both attended Blackwoods College, but she has hated him ever since for the deed he cared out there. His obsession and love has never diminished and he will do anything to protect Penny and get revenge for the acts against her. B.B. Hamel has written another thrilling dark romance story about the Oligarch side of the mafia. The chemistry between Penny and Jasper is explosive while the suspense and danger will have you biting your nails. Cannot wait to see what happens next in the saga of the Oligarchs in Book 4.

This is the third book in this fascinating series and is Kaspar and Penny’s journey. From the moment Kaspar met Penny in college he has been obsessed and consumed with her, and now 10-years later he is dark, handsome, dangerous, and powerful, and he wants Penny to marry him. Kaspar decides that now is the time to have Penny, and he will literally do anything for her, even kill, and he treats her like a queen. Kaspar has unknowingly to Penny be protecting her. The chemistry between these two is combustible and undeniable, as they challenge each other at every turn. This is a well written flawless story which is dark, raw, gritty, and with secrets, drama, action, danger, suspense, intrigue, emotions, lies, betrayal, murder, and love. I was totally enthralled throughout this riveting page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Though it could mostly be read as a standalone, Pretty Sinner is best read after the first two books in the Oligarchs series. This novel follows Penny and Kaspar, and explores their past. And their history is a lot more intertwined and complicated than you might think.

In many ways, this is the dark romance version of a second-chance romance, which was delightful. As with all dark romances, make sure you check your triggers prior to reading and proceed accordingly. Fans of this sub-genre won't be disappointed, and there are just as many unalivings as there are steamy times in this book.

As with its predecessors, we also get an epilogue that sets up the next book... and I won't lie... I'm intrigued.

Thank you to the author via Booksprout for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

my monster

Pretty Sinner is book three in the series The Oligarchs by author B. B. Hamel. Absolutely brilliant- it’s dark, sensual and down right bloody. Imagine having someone willing to burn down the world for you - there’s a catch though you utterly hate this person, he’s a beast. His life - the life of Oligarchs is full of death, lies and betrayal. A choice must be made you can have the world at your feet or you can run - but run fast because he’ll chase.
So that’s this book in a nutshell- well almost- you’ll love the twists and turns. The deals behind closed doors (not really these Oligarchs don’t have a care- the world is theirs). If you love darkness, crave it this is the book for you.
Enjoy!!
