DNF at 35%
Awesome premise and started out great with good writing, but it kept getting worse as time went on.
The FMC was bland and lacking any personality. At all. She is supposedly a fighter, defiant and sassy to boot, buuut she wasn’t introduced that way. In fact after “talking back” to the MMC on one of their first interactions alone she falls at his feet apologizing profusely. Not buyin’ it.
The MMC is supposed to be a scary monster and is frequently telling the FMC that she will regret disobeying him, blah blah blah, yet when she mildly (cause she’s blaaaaah) acts out he makes her kneel (this is all she does anyway) in the middle of his office with a collar on…..that’s it? Yeeaaaah, he’s the boogeyman alright…
Our MMCs were overtaken by instalove, but the execution was terrible and their chemistry etc. lacked any authenticity. Our two main characters have known each other since the FMC was young, (12 year age gap) and he has never been remotely interested in her at all and she never gave him a second glance either. They’ve also never been alone together and were so indifferent toward one another over roughly 18 years yet NOW *poof* theyre soo into each other.. obsessively so. Just….no. If it’s not believable and doesn’t feel natural in the story, then don’t write it in…
Speaking of which, what’s wrong with a 12 year age gap? The author uses it in the story like it’s a bad thing and our MMC feels so guilty desiring her..12 years really isn’t bad….like at all. 🙄 the Hero even says at one point, that he is almost her fathers age…bruh what? lmao. If the authors gonna use an age gap in a bad way, make it twenty years to be able to use the “borderline too old ew” trope. Once again…if you can’t write it believably..then don’t!

And please..Tinkerbell? THAT is her nickname? He also calls her Tink and “my little fairy”. But these nicknames were jarring, made me physically cringe and immediately took me out of the story. He would ask her things like “What is wrong, my little fairy?” This sounds like something an elderly man would ask a child…not a woman in her 20s and a man in his early 30s…(trying to convince us the 12 year age gap is ew still? Fail.)
The inner dialogue was repetitive I found myself skimming over it in the first 50 pages..Not a good sign.
And we are reminded LITERALLY aaallll the f***ing time that the FMC has chestnut eyes. Mention it once in the beginning, maaaaaybe a bit down the line in case the reader forgets and THATS IT. Don’t shove it down our throats ALL THE TIME. Or use a different word!

January 14, 2023DNF@31% This was funny (not in a good way) and bad. I like how the characters think they’re big, bad and fierce when they’re really as scary as a teddy bear and as interesting as a wet piece of paper.
Zayn (MMC) is 12 years older than Ari (FMC) which to him means he’s practically her fathers age which is legit creepy bc wtf? A 12 year age difference isn’t bad or weird at all so why is it written like it is? He’s also supposed to be terrifying yet when he threatens to punish Ari with the force of the Almighty those punishments end up being 1)to kneel, 2) to gag her, 3) to put her in time-out in a decked out, fully furnished room. LMAO what is this? This is more vanilla than Twilight.
And Ari thinks she’s strong and badass but literally does whatever Zayn says at the drop of a hat. Then says it’s cruel of him to make her do those things she went out of the way to agree on in help with covering up a murder. But but but they’re already kinda in love with each other 🥺👉👈. They haven’t said it of course but the way it’s written leaves nothing to be desired.

this was atrocious. i was reaching for the noose with every next sex scene. all i wanted was good, possibly light-hearted smut. i did not want "come on daddys cocks (plural: real dick and replica dildo dick) you little dirty fairy slut!"
i don't usually judge people for their sexual preferences, but this book is an exception.
there is no way you can understand the extent of horror tyrant is without reading it. here's a brief summary:

This book follows Zayn, a mafia prince and sex club owner. And Ari, the daughter of a gang leader, who shows up a literally bloody mess and begs Zayn, who was her childhood friend, to help her. They make a deal, he will make the mess she made go away and be her protector. All she has to do... Become his pet.
While I did enjoy this book, there was a disconnect with the characters for me at times. With that said the spice was incredible. There was pet play, daddy kink and spit kink, among other things, which I enjoyed very much. But it's Sarah, she writes amazing kink. And I loved that the couple was interracial and that there was an age gap between them. I will admit the nickname/pet name Zayn called Ari was lost on me. It didn't make any sense aside from it just being something she liked as a child. It distracted me often and took me out of scenes a bit sometimes, I can't lie.
But I really loved that where Zayn made Ari stronger, Ari showed Zayn it was okay to be vulnerable. The moments were small, but they were my favorite. What they got from each other was really special and made their relationship work. I also reeeally loved the end, and that it wasn't a super typical ending. They get their HEA, don't worry about that. But it was refreshing that they were happy with it being just them.
I'm very much looking forward to Arlo's book. I liked his character a lot, his loyalty and personality really spoke to me so I can't wait to see what Sarah does with him and Rina!

Oh my gosh....
this. this was everything. I absolutely loved the plot, the details, the SMUT and the characters themselves.
Sarah Bailey did not mess around when writing about Daddy Zayn.
Arianna is remarkable. She's blunt, strong, feels unconditionally & is such a brave person. Her character development was one of my favorites I've read thus far.
Zayn, oh lord. the mafia king. the man of all men, your soon to be new all time favorite book beau. Controlling & freakishly calm.. all the time. no matter what he has to deal with.
yet, when it comes to his tinkerbell, his Arianna, his walls fall. for her and her eyes only.
these two together are perfection. the smut, the chemistry... all of it. it's a total 10/5 stars.
from pushing each others button, to loving each other like no one else can.
words cannot even express how brilliant this book was. Sarah you have outdone yourself. your writing is captivating from the beginning. the twist, the suspense, the love & the banter.

So grateful that I received an ARC for this one.
The four horsemen series is my favorite RH so I didn’t know if I could love zayn as much as I love the four guys… but it happened.
Zayn is ruthless on the outside but so much more on the inside.
There’s so much I loved about this book but I honestly don’t even want to mention it because it’ll ruin the fun.
Just know that it is very spicy. Has tons of kinks. Action. Mafia wars. Strong FMC. It has just the right amount of “daddy kink”. (Some books take it too far lol) I just really can’t praise it enough.
The four horsemen series is my favorite RH so I didn’t know if I could love zayn as much as I love the four guys… but it happened.

ANYWHHHOOO. This story follows, Zayn who is a Mafia Prince but wants nothing to do with the lifestyle anymore and there comes in Arianna Michealson, daughter of a gang leader. Sarah Bailey has once again swooped me up with this story and the characters and the KINKS?! LORD
“She’d just sold her fucking soul to the devil. And she knew it, even if she was trying to be brave.”
Ari comes to Zayn for help but instead is indebted to him and along the way, they create a caregiver dynamic that is purely innocent UNTIL ITS NOT and OOOFFF, the SMUTTY scenes, the PLOT, the, CHARACTERS, I was here for it all.

This book has a decent concept – after Arianna (who's 22) commits a murder in self-defense, she goes to Zayn (who's 34), a mafia prince. He’s a distant acquaintance that she’s known for most of her life, since her gangster dad worked with him before. She asks for his help in covering up her crime, and in exchange, he demands that she should be his.
It's not bad, but nothing unique or special, and their relationship feels undercooked. Still, I might consider checking out the other books in this series. BUT what sunk it for me was the pet names and the dirty talk. He called her fairy, and himself daddy. The chemistry between Zayn and Ari is 🥵🔥 I love how Zayn is dominant and demanding, but soft when Ari needs him to be. He takes care of what’s his, and Arianna is no exception. I love how sassy and stubborn Arianna is. She was cracking me up with the way she purposely winds Zayn up 😂 I will say that this means more toward insta-love, but I didn’t mind it.
I loved getting see more of Penn too!

This book was good!!! I loved it, it had some spicy scenes that were 🔥 but also the plot was amazing.
I don’t like that this is a standalone, because I need more of Zayn and Ari, their story was amazing, their chemistry, and most importantly how they trusted each other and how devoted they were for one another.
I cannot wait for Gil & Enzo’s books!!

This is a stand alone - I do believe we are getting more stories of the characters. We do have a recurring favourite - well he’s my favourite Penn.
Starts off with Ari going to Z for some type of protection. They, well he came up with deal. You’ll need to read to find out more information. Haha! He is a gentleman though.
I absolutely loved this story. The spice was chef kiss. I wasn’t expecting that but I throughly enjoyed it.
Sarah did meet me on toes near the end of the book. I had to write a concerned message to her but it ended out okay or did it?!

Y’all know I love this author and her Four Horsemen series was one of my favorite reads of last year. I was super excited to get to read about spit daddy Zayn, but this one wasn’t a hit for me like I wanted it to be.
Arianna shows up to Zayns club looking for his help. He is 12 years older than her and they have known each other for years because he does business with her father.
He agrees to help her and in exchange she essentially becomes his property, though he says it’s not in a sexual capacity. Naturally that changes fairly quickly.
One of the things I struggled with in this book was the characters. It felt like there was a lot of telling rather than actually showing. And I felt like what we were told about these characters didn’t always match how they acted.
Also, it felt like immediately they were obsessed with each other and there wasn’t a lot of buildup to their relationship. I think this is the first time I read something that really felt like instalove outside of a spicy novella and I just don’t think it’s for me.
Of course, the spice in this was great, Sarah is so great at writing incredibly hot spice. There’s a lot of it too, so this book is great for that.
There’s spit kink, daddy kink, and various other stuff thrown in that you don’t see in your average romance.
Even if it wasn’t a hit for me it might be for you. A ton of other people have really loved it so keep that in mind!

I’m so sad this book is over, I’ve been dragging out the last 30% because I just didn’t want it to end. This is one of my favourite reads ever. Tyrant has been on my tbr since it came out but for some reason I always put it off but I decided to read it randomly one day and I’m so glad I did.
This is a age gap mafia romance with plot and smut. The romance is definitely the driving force of the book but there’s still a good amount of plot also.
Let me tell you this spice in this book is AMAZING! It had everything I loved and more. I also really enjoyed how there wasn’t a silly breakup around 90% in like a lot of other books. I also loved how the heroine and hero didn’t have children or get married in this book as it’s not always needed and they was both okay with this decision.

This book is so good! I love that Ari is a baddy from the get go. I love how from the very beginning Zayn shows her his caring side and takes care of her.
