Owned by the Lost Boys

Rate this book
They say they saved my life, even though I never saw them do it.

Cyril, Isaac, Ashe, Ezra, and Arlo call themselves the Lost Boys, and they’re just one branch of a ‘family’ that rules everything in the city I grew up in. They’re the bad guys, in every sense of the word, and they don’t care who knows it.

Worse? They want to show me all of their sharp, bloody edges

After a vacation gone wrong, the Lost Boys tell me that they’re the only reason I made it out alive. That even though I didn’t know it at the time, they saved me. It doesn’t matter that I didn’t see them do it. It doesn’t matter that I doubt these monsters are capable of anything other than taking a life.

Because their word is law, and now that they’ve saved me?

They own me.

But I’m not a pushover, and I don’t need a knife to prove to them I won’t be made theirs so easily.

Owned By The Lost Boys is a why choose, dark romance stand-alone that contains MM, MFM, and so much more. If you’re bothered by killing, blood, and kink, then this might not be the book for you.

After a bizarre trip to San Diego for a gaming convention, Arista Verlice returns to her hometown of Solen City on Banks Lake in Washington. However, six months have passed and she finds herself still in a funk. At the urging from her boss and best friend, Sera, Ari makes an appointment to get a new tattoo. When she enters Inkubus, she walks away with much more than just a new tattoo she didn’t ask for.

“So what is it you want from me then, Ezra?” “Everything,” Ezra says cheerfully. “Every little or big thing you’re willing to give me. I want everything because I’ve never met someone like you, and I know the other Lost Boys will tell you the exact same.”

This Peter Pan retelling is a unique combination of second chance love, band of brothers, crime family, reverse harem, and so much more. While slightly less steamy than I was expecting, Owned by the Lost Boys was my first read by this author but it will not be the last.

Wading through the dross that constitutes the majority of indie RH books becomes worth it when you unearth the gold.

Not that this book is perfect - if I'm being specific, I'd give it 3.75 stars - but it was SO MUCH FUN, and that counts for a lot in my book. I don't think I've read any AJ Merlin before because I'd got her confused with AJ Macey, another RH author whose books I've invariably DNFed. But they are definitely not the same people.

The premise of this book caught my attention immediately. Arista is a gamer nerd who visits San Diego for a convention; she has multiple weird interactions there, first with a guy who insults and threatens her, then with a man who looks identical to her childhood friend (but claims not to be). To top it all off, it's Halloween night, and the weirdest interaction of all comes when two masked figures with a knife warn her to go home - or else. Thankfully, Arista is one of those heroines with a brain in her head, so she follows their advice straightaway.

Six months later, that weird night still haunts her, but she's trying to put it behind her. What better way than by visiting Inkubus, a new tattoo parlour? But once she's there, she realises she's in the crosshairs of the Lost Boys - Arlo, Cyril, Isaac, Ezra, and Ashe. They think she owes them because they saved her life in San Diego. And they're here to collect...

✔️ The writing is really, really good. A little repetitive at times - like one character will 'assure' someone of something, then immediately another will 'assure' someone else - but it flows really well and there were no glaring typos. I am unfortunately super sensitive to prose that I perceive to be badly written, and there was none of that here - the whole reading process was smooth and enjoyable.

✔️ Arista is a great heroine. Generally smart, and when she's not, it doesn't feel TSTL; she retains a healthy fear of the heroes until she has reason not to. No insta-love here! She felt likeable and realistic, down to her hoodie/leggings uniform and snarky mental dialogue. Often when authors create mouthy, feisty heroines, I cringe at all the inappropriate times they shoot their mouths off, but Arista never did it in a way that made me question her intelligence. Instead, the times she did it felt appropriate, and that made me enjoy the sarcastic banter and one-liners even more.

✔️ The heroines are decently well-defined too. There are five of them and it's only one book, so inevitably some felt shallower than others, but I really like how the relationship development was handled. It progressed at a different pace for each hero, they were all treated differently, and they at least felt like different people.

✔️ On that note, I LOVE that there's no male POV, because I hate that, and it's so rare nowadays to find authors who refrain from stuffing their books with first-person male POV. Hardly anyone can pull it off, and there's little more irritating than seeing through the eyes of a hero who apparently thinks and speaks JUST like the heroine.

✔️ The M/M was also exactly how I like it. That is, I generally prefer no M/M because I want the heroine to be the focus, but if it exists, I want her to at least feel like the centrepiece and an important part of the heroes' lives. I definitely got that vibe here - the M/M didn't steal the show.

✔️ The blend of dubcon and clear consent was intriguing and worked well. Like, the heroes will happily break into her house, tattoo her against her will, and loom all over her, but they draw the line at noncon in a way that felt believable. Not that I mind noncon, but it takes a lot to be handled well, and here I still got the 'dark romance' feel successfully without it.

❌ I will say the plot is a little light. As I mentioned, it's a standalone, and not even a particularly long one, so the whole plot in general is pretty thin. Basically, the heroes are criminals who work for the city leader, and they're dealing with a guy who wants to take over their turf, but it's not massively more defined than that. Though I didn't mind too much, it may bother you.

TL;DR version of my review: as soon as I finished this book, I went out and borrowed the author's omegaverse duet to see if this one was a fluke, and it wasn't. I reckon I've found a new favourite RH author!

This my 3rd book by AJ Merlin and unfortunately i feel the exact same way as I did with them. The first 𝐈 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐈𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐞, the second I thought it was 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 but now with the third I can honestly say 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.
The authors writing style and I are not compatible. Now that doesn't mean her literary skills are at fault here, it only means that 𝐖𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐃𝐨 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡. And this is why I'm giving this a 3 stars rating, since my lack of enthusiasm is more of a preference issue than anything else. Also 𝐑𝐇 with only one 𝐏𝐎𝐕 is a big no for me, especially here where there are 5 guys in it.

Owned By The Lost Boys was so freaking good. Once I started, I just knew that I wasn't going to be able to put it down. Especially after meeting all the characters - Cyril, Isaac, Asher, Ezra, Arlo and Ari. Cy, the perfect dark version of Peter Pan. Isaac, Asher, Ezra, and Arlo the sexy, dark and mysterious lost boys. Ari, their precious Wenday Darling. Together, they work and I was here for it all.

The romance was so freaking good. I liked how things weren't instantaneously between them. Yes, there were some obvious feelings, chemistry, and sexual tension. Still, it did take a while for anything romantic to happen with her and any of the guys. When it eventually did happen, the pages just kept flying because I just wanted more.

Besides that, we did get some drama and action (in a way - I guess?). I feel like things were a bit rushed towards the end though. I still ended up enjoying the heck out of this though and secretly hoped it was a series. One can never say no to a Peter Pan dark retelling.

In the end, I'm so happy that I decided to dive into this today and can't wait for my next dark romance.

I went into this book blind and I’m so happy I did because I ended up loving it. The heroine was easy to like and her story was one fun and wild adventure. The beginning was creepy AF and really had me on edge during the book expecting that vibe to continue on but luckily it did not. I’m bummed this is a standalone because I’d love to see more from these characters down the road especially how Ari is just beginning to embrace her own darker side. She’s kinda nerdy and has a love for all things horror except experiencing them for herself. Luckily once she hooks up with the Lost Boys (a misfit gang with connections) there’s always someone at her back willing to do anything she pleases even if that’s to have someone killed. Considering the book isn’t very long the storyline was engaging and each of the guys got their due time and independent identities. Fun RH standalone that reads quick but should only be read by fans of darker and bloodier books.

I'm so sad that this was just a standalone 🥺. When I first started reading I wasn't so sure if it was gonna be something I was gonna be into. There was the Peter Pan quote before it began, and I realized I hadn't really paid attention to the title. But once I started the chapter I was hooked, lol. It was a great RH with the guys being psycho. I have to say I've been enjoying these types recently. Especially when they're psycho and just absolutely adore the fmc (*swoons*) oh and especially when they adore each other😍😍😍. I could definitely go for an extended novella with them or just a whole series with them 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Oh yes! Wow! It's true, I had a dry spell and reading inhibitions, but this book cured me. It's a bit of everything: extremely entertaining romance, dark and gritty, not on the sheer white law-abiding side of life, more in the deep black, a bit of creepiness and thriller and such a great heroine! Cheeky and against her better judgement, always going straight and just being true to herself.

I devoured every exchange of words and every battle of words, almost unfiltered and uncritical I gave myself over to enjoyment and the morally clean or right side didn't matter to me at all.

I will definitely continue to read this author who is new to me, just too tempting!
And yes, although it was clear I was at the end of the book and the HEA was there, I was still surprised that the story had already reached its end. I could have happily wallowed in the happy ending of Darling and her Boys a little longer, just for the love of it.

Over all actually a perfect 4 star rating, the erotica was a bit delicate and cursory in design for the dark side of the pleasures but doesn't hinder the enjoyment factor.
Very good writing, great narration and plus 1 star because I enjoyed it so much and it did me good. This is a perfect retelling of Peter Pan and his lost boys!

PS
Fun side fact: on Amazon.com it was #1 on the LGBTQ + Horror list in June and on Amazon.de it runs under the Psycho and Suspense list (English language) - so different the point of view can be 😆

I really enjoyed this book! Between the horror element (I will go to my grave saying that Scream is the best OG horror movie) and just how fun the characters are, I just had a blast reading. I loved the dry humor Ari had and how different her relationship was between all the guys. Plus I loved how possessive they all were of her.

That being said, I just wish the relationships were developed a bit more. And I think if we had gotten the guys pov and if the book had been longer, then that would have happened.

Overall though this was a great book and I hope we'll be seeing these lost boys and their Wendy some more. This is the perfect book for readers who are wanting to delve into the rh world that's on the lighter side of darkness. I'll definitely be reading more of this author!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **

I just couldn't connect with this one. I think a big issue for me is that bully romance beyond college is tough and I just wanted Aria to get mad and stand up for herself instead of immediately melting for these guys. I know the point is that they eventually get together, but I wanted her to fight back a bit more.

I also thought the chemistry between Aria and the guys was lacking and each guy felt one dimensional. We didn't learn much about them and they were more like what the author thought a dark character should be instead of developing into actual people. The stakes were pretty low, with only a couple chapters at the end had action and drama and were easily resolved. I think this could have been better if it were longer, with chapters from the guys' points of view and more character development.

I want to start this off by saying I received an early copy of the book to review and all opinions are my own!

Owned By The Lost Boys is my first AJ Merlin read, but unfortunately just wasn't for me. I couldn't really vibe with their writing style and found the pacing of the book a bit weird. I did enjoy the overall premise of the book, but wished certain plots and aspects had been a bit more fleshed out.

That being said, still giving 4 stars because it wasn't badly written, just not for me!

This was enjoyable and though not my favourite by this author I still found it entertaining and it was a fun read. It's a reverse harem and our girl Ari after a gaming convention finds herself being unexpectedly rescued by her favourite horror film characters, not that she had any idea of the danger she was in. Fast forward a few months and Ari is living her predictable boring life working in a book store when she decides to get herself another tattoo and instead gets more than she expected when she finally meets the lost boys.

The lost boys do sketchy stuff all highly illegal and they are very stabby and bloody with it, they also decide that Ari is now there's and since they saved her life it now belongs to them, she becomes their very own Wendy darling and despite putting up a token resistance it's not long before Ari is loving everything about her newfound family including there murderous ways.

Despite the dark themes this was very much a fun read, I do wish this had been a longer series as it did feel a bit rushed in terms of character connection and think this could have been achieved much better with some more time. I still very much enjoyed this and It was an easy quick read with plenty of delicious spice. Be aware this one is super hot and the men are also involved with each other so there's M/M as well. Expect lots of sexy shenanigans and sketchy behaviour.

I love the way the author writes her dialogue and the banter and teasing between the characters. This is my favorite dynamic the assholes who are protective and possessive. I wish the author would write another PNR, or finish her PNR series, I’m getting sick of the murdery psychos. The plot in this one didn’t grab me like the plots in her other books.

I loved the Peter Pan theme, I loved the group of dark, crazy guys who are deeply bonded to each other.
Ari didn’t just “give in” immediately to them claiming her, so that was a plus for me.
I loved the idea, the themes (Reverse Harem) between these dangerous men and their devotion to one woman (and each other)
I loved how they originally meet. It was creepy and fun at the same time, and interesting how it plays out slowly… here comes the issue for me-
It unfortunately, was wordy without me understanding the purpose and I’d lose interest.
It moved too slowly for a dark RH with “psycho’s” in my opinion.
It’s dark, it’s sexual I shouldn’t technically be lacking interest.
The sexual aspect actually happened pretty slowly and I would have liked that a lot if there was more individual character development. I think slow burn lovers will like this aspect.
I wanted to feel and understand the strong attraction and individually “know” them all.
I think it’s a story that some will really love. I liked plenty of it, just not a big love connection.
I wanted less descriptions of things that didn’t move the story forward and more of the relationship’s.
The sexy times WERE very hot and steamy. Not as dark as I expected, but that’s fine for me.
I appreciate the idea and enjoyed some parts of the story and characters, it just wasn’t a home run for me, so to speak.

Thrilling, sexy and utterly exciting story!

WOW! This was sexy, thrilling, dark and exciting Peter Pan themed story with all kinds of depravity and violence thrown in. It was definitely unique, with twisted and unhinged characters and a titillating storyline that kept me gripping my kindle tightly, squirming on my seat with anticipation and desire, and shocked at what the Lost Boys do to their Wendy! Once I started reading, I was hooked and wanted this story to keep going even after I got to the end.

Really well written story that just sucked me in, kept me on the edge with suspense, and had me loving these completely crazy, psychotic and disturbed characters. The back-and-forth banter between Ari and the Lost Boys put a smile on my face, and their intense sexual connections made my panties melt.

I absolutely loved this story and can’t wait to see what this amazing author gives us next.

Right off the bat I have to say this is one of the more hotter/ sexier RH that I have read in a while. If you want something spicy to read that’s also written very well this is the read for you.

Because let me tell you the men are HOT and obsessed, and that’s literally the best combo ever. I will say that I’m not usually a fan of bbw/curvy romance because I’m curvy myself and when those fmc’s are anything but confident it tends to depress me. Ari had a few moments where she lacked confidence in herself and it definitely made me sad but was bearable. She’s obviously a very beautiful woman but she just doesn’t see it herself and I found myself wishing she did instead of constantly denying it when the men told her.

I want to give Kudos to the author because I’m a person who gets jealous with mm anytime the fmc isn’t the complete center of the men’s attention but this was well done, and the men were all very interested in Ari and it didn’t make me very jealous at all. The adoration they had for one another was very equal for what they had for her and I found this to be very satisfying.

I do wish this book was a series, so we can see their relationship grow. I felt like Ari didn’t spend enough time with Isaac despite him being the catalyst for all the men becoming obsessed with her. I would have also loved for this to be multiple pov because I adored the men and would have loved to be in their heads. Especially Ezra’s just to see if he truly is a psychopath like he and the other guys said he is, because he really truly does seem to care about Ari and when I think of the term psychopath I picture someone who is incapable of love. I’m also curious about the other men and their family. So I def felt this could have been suited to a series.

That being said I think this book was an amazing read and I would love to read another book with these characters again.

This is a really personal perspective on this - you may like it! Really was not for me. It's new adult, which I've enjoyed some of but I just couldn't get behind this. It's got a lot of kink. I also felt like the pacing was off - it dragged and some bits flew by. I couldn't connect to the characters - I didn't feel like there was really any chemistry between Aria and the guys, and what there was was very one dimensional. By the end we hardly knew anything about 'The Lost Boys' - there were more like caricatures.

But, I also really really hated the kink in this - I've read heavier books than this before so I'm npt sure what it was about this one. Probably the lack of chemistry and poor characterisation, because without chemistry, the whole thing becomes just... sick, rather than kinky.

Anyway, there are a ton of positive reviews so check them out too - you might like it!

Ari has been claimed by The Lost Boys Cyril, Isaac, Asher, Ezra, and Arlo. Isaac was once a dear friend when they were kids but now he's just as dark and twisted as the others. It turns out they saved her from someone who was after her and now they think they own her. Does she want to be one of them? Let them take over her life? Does she have a choice or care that they are everywhere she turns?
They may be "bad guys," but they are her Lost Boys and she may need to save them right back.
I loved this book and wish it was more than a standalone. I think the author could have drawn it out into more of a series, maybe a duet to cover more of the guys' backgrounds. On the other hand, it was a pretty great story as it was so not complaining too much.

I can’t believe this was a standalone. I couldn’t believe that it was while reading it.

I absolutely love the Peter Pan references within the book and how the Ari responded to it! Also the scream references! Loved the too!

The smut was beautifully written. I needed more of it and can I have more please? Especially with Cyril ;) . The only thing I wanted more was MM but it was really good!

I pulled an all nighter to finish this book, and it was completely worth it!!

Ari is claimed by the Lost Boys, and no matter how hard she tries to fight it, she wants them!!

You guys arent ready for these Lost Boys!!! Cyril, Ezra, Arlo, Ashe and Isaac are all so freaking HOT!!! I would let these sexy psychos claim me any day of the week!!

I love Ari so much!! Her sassiness and the connection she grows to have with each guy had me glued to the pages.

I didnt want this book to end! I can always count on AJ to give me deliciously dark guys and amazing worlds that will have you hooked!!!

Audiobook edition. It took a while to get into this one. For the most part I had to keep adjusting my headset volume. The woman was nice and crisp, but the guy was a little subdued as if recorded. I'm not sure if it was because at the beginning the guys were quiet, mysterious and threatening or if there was an issue with the recording. In the end I played the last three hours aloud meaning past midnight bedtime. Oops.

Initially this was embarrassing as hell. The sneaking around trying to spy like, whilst the guys were already watching her every move and pretty much already had the leash around Ari's neck. I think this time around the one character that annoyed me wasn't Declan, his brother or Christine - although she did come close - it was Sera for falling for such fake concern. Instead of calling Ari or walking away she let herself be manipulated. It was a bit of a downer for their relationship when they were supposed to be as close as family. Trusting the word of a stranger and the miscommunication aspect really set Sera as the worst character for me.

I liked all the guys, although Ezra at the cabin and Cyril cheating to win were still my favorite moments. Bravo to the narrators for recording the multiple threats and sex scenes keeping a straight voice. Truly professionals. One day I might get through a romance audio without feeling like I'm listening to porn on the tram.

I liked that despite the lost boys supposedly being the bad guys, they did everything to make Ari feel at ease. They kept her, they gave her what she needed and although they all played their games, they kept the consent constant and didn't go too far. The Wendy darling got annoying fast so nothing new there. The story definitely feels more vivid on audio.

FMC - Ari
Guys - Ezra, Cyril, Asher, Isaac and Arlo
Bad guys - Declan Rogers, his brother, Christine. The lost boys

Kindle edition

This one popped up out of nowhere, I forget what I pre-order. I liked it. I’ll likely get the paperback as well so I can focus read. Some similarities to Playing with knives, or rather a notch above in terms of blood and killing. I liked Ari and just how she didn’t mind pushing the guys’ buttons. I’m liking one of the guys being the boss of the others. Heavy on the M/M which is always good. The Wendy nickname started getting a little tedious and I thought the woman on the phone would turn out to be a jealous Tinkerbelle. Definitely need to re-read. Light hearted dark one with horror themes, tattoos and kink. Toss up between Ezra and Cyril being my fave.

For the record, I'm going specifically with the Goodreads premise that 3 stars means I liked this. Because I did, truly, enjoy the book.

This is going to sound like the weirdest word choice considering what the MCs do for a living, but this book was cute. It was a quick read for me, but it was genuinely entertaining, and I blew through it once I sat down and started to read. I enjoyed the balance of the s3xy times and the plot. I think Merlin hit a good proportion of when and how often she chose to feature in those moments.

Personally, I liked Ari. I think she's a character with a lot of potential, and I wish there was more to come because Merlin has a good foundation for this character, but I'd love to see more about how she evolves, especially with the guys' presence and influence in her life waking up different aspects of who she might become.

Cyril, Isaac, Asher, Ezra, and Arlo are a bit messed up, surely homicidal, and completely committed. They definitely, for me, are a sort of middle ground between being the "bad boys" or the "psychos" and being truly depraved. Merlin doesn't cross the line, nor do I think she really dances along it. She gives enough darkness and sharp edges to her characters to satisfy readers who want that taste off the boy who kills the boy next door, but they're not truly f'ed up, or at least not in my opinion.

There are much darker RH groups out there, so if you want truly dark, like the depths of the ocean where no light survives kind of dark, this is not for you. If you moreso enjoy the shades of gray, I think you'll find exactly what you need.

As far as Merlin's series go, my favorite is still Wicked Fortunes because I think it shows the most ingenuity and feels the "freshest" to me in terms of the worldbuilding, the characters, the conflicts. However, I truly enjoy each new book that I dig into from this author, so whether it's three stars, four, or five, I can honestly say that I think Merlin is someone to check out.

Cyril, Isaac, Ashe, Ezra and Alro are part of a group who calls themselves the lost boys and they rescue Ari while she is on a vacation. So as payback for that, they decide to make her theirs.

I loved how this book started so much. There was a lot of stalking and a lot of the guys trying to convince Ari to get with them. It was so fun and absolutely lovely to read about. I was just so into the start of this book. It got me so invested in the book and I just wanted to read more of it.

I loved these characters so much. Ari was so sassy and lovely. I loved how she wasn’t affraid to speak her mind and to defend herself, she was just a lovely main character. I wish that I was her friend because she was just that great and I would love to have someone like her in my life. And I loved all of the guys. I loved how they were all super different from each othey. They all ended up complimenting each other very well because of that. And they were just so swoony, they made me melt, so much.

I really loved the relationship in this one. I loved how it was a little forceful, very possessive, all about ownership, but also so lovely to read about. Their relationship just really worked for me.

This book was so hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times while I was reading the book and I just had the best of time reading it.

This book was also very dark and gritty and I absolutely loved all of the descriptions of the dark things. It was so much fun to read about.

I love that the guys need to own Ari and how they showed that through their every move. I loved how they just wanted her to be their and to be belong to them and for everyone to know that. I love this kind of ownership in books and I just loved how it was in this book.

The smut was so hot in this one. These guys had such a month on them, the words that came out of their mouths were just so hot.

I received an arc of this book and this is my honest opinion

Owned by the Lost boys is a dark romance, RH, Peter pan inspired standalone.

I'd like to start out by saying, I did like this book. Everything flowed smoothly, it was fun, action packed, spice was fantastic, full of sword-crossing, mask play, crazy stalker, unhinged guys, plus trigger warnings, which are things I REEEALLY enjoy reading. This has been on my TBR for a while. Although, it was different from what I thought, It was still good.

Narration: I did like their voices. At times, it was a bit difficult to distinguish between the different male characters but eventually caught up. I did also picture an actor from a show I watch and giggled a bit at the "s3xy fun" scenes, especially while he was dirty talking and pr@ising.

There were a few things that I personally would have loved to see more of.

Story: With being an RH and having five different guys in the picture, I hoped to get different POVs and an in depth look into their minds. Yes, They did tell us why they are, the way they are and some other "outside evidence " but it would have been more of an eye opener.

Annnd Ari...
Ari did also kinda fall a little flat for me. I was a bit confused on why they were so obsessed with her. She didn’t have much of a development until the very end. I also got second hand embarrassment at times. On the flip side, I also felt that she was also kinda relatable at times too. I did eventually start to like her but I kinda hoped for more independent growth.

Overall, even with my personal opinions and mixed feelings, I really did still enjoy this book. It's one that I would read again. I kept flip flopping between a 3.5 & 4, but ended up deciding on a 4⭐

Ari doesn't know she belongs to the Lost Boys but soon enough she will figure it out and maybe not the easy way ... but she will find out.

Once she is branded by these guys she is not happy about it and she seems a bit put off and bothered but once they start to invade her space and every crevice she starts to realize that she they start growing on her. She starts getting fascinated by what they do and maybe at one point she thinks she might have thought that she wouldn't think she belonged in their world, but she comes to realize that she does belong with them.

She is Wendy Darling to their Peter Pan (how cute)! and each and every one of these five guys treat her with care and adoration and I fell in love with each one regardless of what they did in this town.

I honestly would have loved another book to have gotten more insight on the other guys, their backstories. But I guess I can't complain because there was an HEA in the book and there was some twists and some mystery involved to the story so it wasn't like we were just flipping pages with nothing to look forward to. I did enjoy this book a lot, I just feel like we missed a bit on more of the boys' background.

I am most intrigued with Isaac for some reason. Either way, all these boys were amazing!!

I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really like the world that AJ Merlin created with this book. Would have loved series vs a standalone, as there's so much more to learn about Ari and her boys.

Of course I always like the psycho ones best so I had a favorite even though they're all pretty out there. But all the boys got their chance to shine in this. Ari does deal with some mental health issues which was actually nice to read, as they didn't downplay the effects that can have. I would have liked more on exactly why all the boys were obsessed with Ari, like more reasoning behind it for each of them. The steam was pretty great particularly one scene in a club of sorts and another that itches that primal kink. I enjoyed the drama, though there really isn't that much angst over all compared to a lot of what I read. Looking forward to seeing more of what this author does. And would love to see more in this universe. Of a favorite, I especially enjoyed the "scare" scenes with masks. That is apparently a thing I didn't previously know about myself!

OHHH Man…where can I find my own “lost boys”. I get shivers just thinking about all the hotness these five men have to offer. To say the dark and mysterious men didn’t have me hooked from the very beginning would be a lie. Cyril, Isaac, Arlo, Ezra, and Ashe are hands down my new favorite book boyfriends. The unapologetic way each holds themselves is what truly brings each of them to an unimaginable hotness quality that couldn’t be broken no matter how crazy they might seem (especially Ezra…OMG HOT).

While I don’t want to give too much away, I can’t say enough about how steamy and unapologetic this book is. From the beginning, I couldn’t put it down. What makes it even better is Ari, our FMC might seem timid compared to her fierce five men, but that doesn’t stop her from finding out that she is actually stronger than she thinks and can definitely hold her own with each of these strongly intimidating men. If you’re looking for your own lost boys full of steamy goodness, then you have definitely reached the right book. I couldn’t recommend this book enough.

3.5⭐️’s - the first half if not up to 75% of the way through this book was a wonderful build up of getting to (kinda) know the MC’s and they’re dynamic. I really enjoyed getting to know them and how they all fit together in their own effed up ways.

The last percentage of the book…. WAY too rushed… WAY too OTT… then it just ends. SUPER disappointing on the way it was “lobbed over the fence”, so to speak, and the whole thing felt like “my publisher’s deadline is in a week and I need to give them something”, for lack of a better explanation, and it showed.

This book, if handled properly, should have been a duet at the minimum so I didn’t feel like “who the eff? Why the eff?” I felt like I was on a roller coaster that’s sole purpose was to scare you but instead gave you a concussion. Kind of a buzzkill because it could have been so much better if more consideration was taken.

This is by far my favorite Peter Pan retelling of all time. AJ knocked it out of the park and I found myself consumed from the begging to the end.

This second chance fairytale retelling was absolutely fantastic from the first page to the last. Arista was a girl after my own heart and after needing an escape via a tattoo session (we have all been there) she finds her band of psycho guys and they do not let her go.

I honestly didn’t want this book to end and I absolutely hope we see at least glimpses of this group in future books. If this was a series I’d be pre-ordering the next one right away, but alas, this is a stand-alone and an amazing spicy one at that.

If you want a unique Peter Pan retelling with psycho lost boys, a strong FMC, yummy spice, and a plot that sucks you in then you’re going to love this book as much as me.
