This was sweet. Enid shifts for the first time just as Derwyn is getting mauled by naked bog women in Book 2. The story starts with the mauling scene and it was hilarious the way Derwyn viewed it. But before Derwyn can finish bonding with Enid, his nob friends and nob not-friends show up to bring him back to the tower. Enid is not impressed by his poorly thought out priorities. I loved how Derwyn makes it up to her (and to the rest of the bog shifters). A sweet short story and a happy ending. I was not a fan of Derwyn in the first book and his thoughts about Cadoc and Rosie didn't make me more inclined to like him. But Enid is his epiphany and his chance to get it right.
Freebie for signing up for newsletter and I gotta say I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. This takes place at the same time as the second book in the series, and they're teenagers but I liked Derwyn's "rejection" wasn't really one. It was a horrible choice, and he tried to make it up as soon as possible. I liked it a scosh more than the Cadoc and Rosie, lol. Anyway, it was cute and worth the signup.
Derwyn is the wolf assigned by Cadoc to watch Rosie, he's a nob or a member of the rich wolves set who spend more time in the human side of things. While Rosie escapes her pack mates create a distraction by having the females topless and surrounding Derwyn. It's in this chaos that he scents his mate. They're interrupted in their mating and he sends her off for her own safety. A little wooing and he's able to get back into her good graces
No history on either but they both don't seem to be virgins No cheating, drama etc
Oh, what sweet read. Their story is happening alongside book two. Derwyn's rejection wasn't really one. He had to follow orders and send her away to keep her safe, but to Enid, it really felt like one. Derwyn was such a cutie-pie. As soon as he realised what was happening he made emends and came for her. Highly recommended
This one was short and takes place the same time as the ending of book #2. I loved how it opened, was laughing at Derwyn and how he was overcome with the women. It was a smart plan for the bog to help Rosie. Even better was Derwyn finding his mate during this chaos. I did hate the choice he had to make and how that left Enid feeling. Thank goodness Derwyn was able to win her back by realizing in the bog it's one for all and all for one.
"He doesn't want to fight me. He wants to fight reality."

I love Cate C. Wells' writing. Although this was a novella, it was a super sweet short story. Me met Derwyn in the last book while he was hanging out in the bog keeping an eye on the alpha's mate. This picks up right where she escapes and he is boondoggled by a bunch of the pack females. While trying to fend them off, he is hit with the sweetest scent of lemon and that scent would lead him right to his mate.
This story also deals with the caste system within the pack and how it affects mates from different sides of the track. Great little story!

She caught me. I breathe her in. This is my damn day.
"Is that lover boy then?"
"That's one way to make an entrance."
"You stole food for us?" "Yeah," he says, "For us."
"Sorry. It's not the best stuff." "You're the best stuff."
"I know a ruse, when it`s shoving it`s titties in my face". - LOL You just have to like Derwyn. The distraction of the scavenger women (compare also: The Heir Apparent's Rejected Mate) is just incredibly effective and funny.
Derwyn's first encounter with Enid was a bit "unfortunate", but on the other hand it also shows that an urgent change of mind should be carried out in this pack. - Enid is right, when she says that mates always come first; not the alpha and the duty.
I liked Derwyn from the beginning. His inner attitude towards Enid is genuine and straightforward. Nevertheless, he tries to be loyal to his pack.
I'm a sucker for a for a little sign me up shortie at the end of a book. You want my email address for an extra chapter / short little story? No problem. My inbox is filled with authors newsletters and it brings me joy.
This story was adorable. Derwen didn't have much character at all in the second book, so it was great to get a sense of who he was. What I really enjoyed though was a sense of how the pack mating dynamic was meant to work - yes it gets disrupted but it's nothing like in the main stories. Would I have liked it of the story was longer? Yes, of course, but then it wouldn't have been a little email treat. Totally worth the newsletters.
We were introduced to Derwyn in the previous book. Now it's his turn to find his mate. Unfortunately, pack hierarchy calls and his newly minted mate, Enid, finds out that she comes in last. At least that's how it feels to her. To Derwyn, he's faced with trying to choose between the lesser of 2 evils.
I'm sad that this was a novella, rather than a full novel. In just the 2 short chapters, the author managed to not only capture my attention, but left me wanting more. These 2 characters could definitely hold their own in a full length book, and I hope one day the author will go ahead and flesh out their full story.
Plot: - Derwyn from the previous book who was tasked with watching his alpha's mate gets swarmed by all the females who are trying to distract them from her escape - he finds his mate, and everything is going well when his packmates tell him that he has to leave and report to authority - h is incredibly hurt, but H explains to her his situation and they make amends

This was super cute. I fell in love with Derwyn the minute he flexed his biceps for the grandmas. I did, however, think that it was very funny that his reaction to the mass starvation and oppression of an entire class of people was essentially to re-enact the Lonely Island’s “I’m on a Boat” music video. Go big or go home I guess.

Two chapters wasn't enough!!!!! Stuck between a rock and a hard place Derwyn has to walk away from Enid. Given her experience with nobs, she doesn't expect much else but thankfully Derwyn proves her wrong and this super cute story is the perfect addition to the series. It was also wonderful to get to meet Derwyn (and Enid) in person, having met them briefly in THARM.
This was an adorable fated mate novella. Derwyn was a weirdly huge part of five pack’s book 2 and I loved getting to see him have his HEA. My only complaint is I wish this was a full length book 😩😩 I’m absolutely obsessed with this series and I just know Derwyn and Enid would’ve had an epic full length story ❤️
This author definitely knows how to write nice scenes. I especially like the first one between the two. If only they weren't interrupted. The rejected thing gets old though.... and was highly unnecessary in such a short story. Couldn't they just have been happy??
This is a quick, little read that I've been holding off on reading. I'm really addicted to this series. I thought this was such a nice read for the shortness of it. This was a nice little dip back into the Five Packs world.
This one was cute for how short it was! I liked seeing what happened to Derwyn after that naked lady attack to distract him. Haha. I can't wait for more of this series!
2 stars upgraded to 4 smut stars 🌟 This was cute as hell and the main couple are both loveable. The missing star is bc I wanted a full 😉 scene from them. Other than that, loved it🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
