This review is for The One That Got Away by Michelle MacQueen and Ann Maree Craven.

Reese is back in Superiore Bay, Maine. Four years she's been avoiding her home town - and her first love, Damien. She gets a job with Selena and Connor at Orchard Hill Farms, but how long can she keep avoiding Damien?

It's nice to be back in Superiore Bay and get to see some of the characters from the Maine Mornings series again! New main characters that I really like, and I would have loved to follow them in a longer story. Now it felt a bit rushed, but I'm still glad I got to spend at least a little time with Reese and Damien!

This short story is part of a charity anthology where all proceeds will be donated to AbortionFunds.Org.

* I received an ARC from the authors through Booksprout and I'm giving my honest review. *

I read Three Rules to Becoming a Goddess by Michelle McCraw. The short story has four women meeting after walking out of a self help meeting. Bonding over drinks Savannah with her new friends she catches the eye of Andrew who buys them all a round. Andrew is 13 years younger, wealthy and has a crush on Savannah when she ran in the same crowd as his mother. But now she's been divorced a year and maybe ready for something new.

This is a cute set up and could easily be built into a longer novel or novella. The stories of the friends could fill out their own books. I can't speak for the rest of the works in this anthology but I enjoyed this story. I'd give it four stars but I'm rounding up as the book is for charity.

I want to thank book sirens for sending me a copy of this anthology to read and to review!
This is a great collection of well and meaningful stories about womanhood and our trials and tribulations. A great selection of works here by great writers who document and write about the matters today and modern day feminist issues. The title is great, and the cover is fantastic! This is an anthology that you can dip in and out of, I wouldn’t recommend reading this in one sitting as this is such a long book, but find the story you need guidance with and let it take you there.

Review for Three Rules for Becoming a Goddess
By Michelle McCraw

As a woman of a certain age myself, I took a particular delight in reading this reverse age gap short story featuring Carly, a 40-something divorcee, and Andrew, the hot young son of her frenemy. Carly is still reeling from her recent divorce when she bonds with a group of women at a less-than-enlightening empowerment seminar. While sharing drinks with the women, she’s approached by Andrew, and a sizzling night of passion follows. Based on the delightful setup of this story, I’m hoping this group of women will be the focus on McCraw’s next series, with Carly and Andrew’s full story coming first.

My heart!

I will repeat again what I love about an anthology. I get to meet new to me authors, whilst catching up with much loved ones all while donating and raising awareness of a fantastic cause. And this one is no different.
I want to personal thank every single person involved with this anthology. An amazing collection of authors who have come together to support and stand up for the rights of women.
This is the book community at its finest and what a fantastic collection of short stories.

This is a fantastic set of stories and I really enjoyed reading them. I highly recommend this series.

5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.

4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.

3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.

2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.

1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

Power and Poignant, Fun and Feisty

This anthology includes 23 short stories and 35 poems with themes ranging from sweetly romantic to fiery and defiant, all in support of fundamental rights for women and financial and logistical support for access to abortions. The poems were thought-provoking and emotion-evoking (read: rage inducing!); I read these and my heart hurt and I thought about child rearing and I got all fired up for women’s rights. I had skipped ahead to read the poetry, so once I’d calmed, I read some great short stories. ‘Dear Future Ex Husband’ by Denise Wells was light and funny - I’d love to read more about Declan and Palmer. ‘Diamonds and Rubies’ is a poignant high school romance that addresses some really challenging topics (definite trigger warnings for this one). ‘Begin Again’ by JJ Grice is a triumphant story of new beginnings and clean breaks from toxic relationships. ‘Wright to Love’ by Renee Dyer merges a sweet second chance romance with some truly difficult topics in an authentic and brave fashion - I loved Tilly’s strength both in telling her story and taking that second chance. ‘Collared Tradition’ by Adrian J Smith is a story-within-a-story with a surprising twist at the end. I loved ‘Three Rules to Becoming a Goddess’ by Michelle McCraw, it included women lifting up other women, how to live life after forty and a younger man over the moon for an older woman. I would love to see more of Carly and Andrew, as well as Lucie, Tessa and Savanah. The other short stories in this anthology where fantastic as well (these were just some highlights), so not only did I get to read some great stories, but I got to support a cause that is truly important.

this book helped me feel less alone

This book has stories in it that every one should read to gain some understanding about what people go through and why they should have these simple rights. A beautiful, gripping anthology.

Brilliant cause - moving and thoughtful collection.

As a hopeless romantic addicted to happily ever afters, I found this collection thoughtful and moving, and at times challenging and heartbreaking. At the time of writing this review, I have only completed 50% of the book - there is a lot of content! What I have read I found to be wonderful bite-sized reads - brave stories of women facing challenges. I have swooned, raged, cried and laughed, and definitely been challenged more than my usual style of escapist feel-good fiction. I enjoyed stories by some of my favourite authors, including Anna Maree Craven and Michelle MacQueen, and discovered new to me authors that I look forward to reading more from, such as Michelle McCraw, Ellie Isaacson and Amanda Cuff.

Review for: Wright to Love by Renee Dyer

An emotional story about a young woman, who at twelve years old had to make a choice no child should have to make. She was still a child herself, physically and mentally incapable of carrying a baby or becoming a mother. Tilly was incredibly brave, to have made that decision, with the help of her mother and doctor. She should not have been shunned because of that decision. Every woman deserves to be able to make the choice that is best for them and their body. Tilly feels that if others know her story it will help others that may find themselves in a similar situation, or at least help them understand other's choices. I'm glad I got to read this story and hope to read the other stories soon.

A great anthology (that I loved), with some touching stories that will pull at your heart, some have hard decisions for the couples involved. One of the tales is The One That Got Away by Ann Maree Craven and Michelle MacQueen - which is about Reese and Damien who once knew each other so well, till they were torn apart. Can they have a second chance, when Reese finally returns to her hometown? Or will their history stand in their way of happiness? I loved this engaging story, Reese was easy to love (as was Damien), and I loved their touching tale. This anthology has plenty of stories and characters to love, and even some poetry.

Short tales of romance from over twenty amazing authors. Gathered all together for a great price.

I'm sure you will find a favorite. Here's a bit about mine. The One That Got Away by  Michelle McQueen and Ann Maree Craven. These ladies are awesome. They create towns I want to visit over and over, populated by characters who are smart, witty; each very human and unique. This story fits snuggly into their Maine Mornings series. After reading this you can dive right in to the rest of the books!

The Proposal Ellie Issacson

I was waiting for Diesel and Natalia's story. I've always favored them. Natalia's spunk and feistiness are cute. That combination makes it so no-one messes with her. She can hold her own and isn't afraid to tell Diesel what's on her mind. They deserved their story.

Thank you to Shannon O'Connor for providing me with an ebook copy of Unexpected Endings for me to read and review. This short story is part of a larger collection, Girls Just Wanna Have Fundamental Rights: A Charity Anthology, that is a collection of stories and poetry from over 35 authors donating all the proceeds to abortionfunds.org. This was definitely a tearjerker, but also great story of love and loss. Seeing as this was meant to be a short story, I enjoyed how concise and fast moving the story was, but a part of me wishes to read more about Jenna and Oliver. A bit more background on the main characters and their lives outside of this situation would have deepened the story for me. Definitely an excellent cause, a good read, and one I will be recommending.

WOW I had the pleasure of reading a clip of KL Donn book Cage & Magnolia. I love KL Donn books and love the way she writes her stories, she make you feel like you are really apart of the book. This book blew me away just from the little bit I read and was upset that it was over so quick. I definitely cannot wait to read more of Cage and Magnolia's story, I just know it will be amazing in every way!!!

I read KL Donn’s story, Cage & Magnolia!

KL Donn just SLAYS!! I have no idea how she does this with every single book! I saw a title the other day that stated, “Books that make you forget that you were reading” and the first author that I thought of when I read this was KL Donn!!

Can’t wait to read the rest of the story in 2023!!

The Proposal by Ellie Isaacson
If you’ve read The Boss then you are going to love this epilogue for Diesel and Natalia.
If not no worries Ms. Isaacson gives enough information and details as to not feel lost and not understanding the situation. But once you’ve read it I’m going to guess you’re going to want to read their full book.
I loved reading this quick but lacking for nothing story.
Getting to see Natalia and Diesel again was a delight.
My heart and soul is happy for them and I’m glad they each found their joy and peace.

I have read Unexpected Endings by Shannon O'Connor. This short story about Jenna and Oliver and their pregnancy journey is an emotional one. All the emotions! It's so well written that it feels like you are there. I would love to read more about this couple. If this one story is a reflection of the rest of the book then I can't wait to read more.

I jumped at the chance to read this short sneak peek into their story and it’s deliciously spicy. It certainly whet my appetite for more. I can’t wait to read the whole story when it comes out next year. I definitely need to know more about Cage, damn that man is yummy.

I was given an ARC copy of Unexpected Endings by Shannon OĆonnor to read and review, this has no reflection on my review. Unexpected Endings is one of the short stories in the Girls Just Wanna Have Fundamental Rights: A Charity Anthology. If all of the 35 poems and short stories in the anthology are as good as Unexpected Endings, this will surely be a big hit and will raise money for the worthy cause of abortionfunds.org.

Unexpected Endings is a tearjerker of love and loss. Jenna and Oliver are a loving couple who experience a big loss and their relationship is forever changed by it. I am hoping that Shannon OĆonnor writes a book about the couple, because I would like to know more of what happens after this short story.

Trigger warning of pregnancy loss. I had 3 miscarriages and I still enjoyed this story, but it may trigger some.

This is a review for Unexpected Endings by Shannon O’Connor:

I have loved all of Ms O’Connor’s works and this is no different. It is a very heartbreaking story about Jenna and Oliver who are overjoyed to discover that Jenna is pregnant but only to have their joy turn to heartbreak when they have to abort the pregnancy due to the pregnancy being eptocic. My heart broke for them both as they had to deal with their loss and emotions. I felt Ms O’Connor handled this very delicately and felt the compassion and love that the characters had for each other. A wonderful story that I would love to read more of in the future.

Cage and Magnolia's story is very intense. The connection between them is startling for them both but too powerful to ignore. The passion between them flares out of control and nothing will ever be the same. This little taste of this couple's start is explosive and addicting. I will be desperate for their entire tale until its in my hot little hands! Brava, KLD!
