Dependentes químicos num jogo mortal lutando pela sobrevivência.Seis estranhos acordam em uma ilha deserta sem qualquer lembrança de como chegaram ali, mas logo se torna evidente o que todos têm em são dependentes de heroína, sequestrados e colocados à força em um jogo mortal. Em pouco minutos, começam a discutir, porém os ânimos se acalmam quando eles encontram um baú com água, comida e uma carta informando que ninguém irá socorrê-los e que, do outro lado do canal, há uma segunda ilha, onde eles encontrarão mais suprimentos e uma recompensa para quem completar a uma dose da mais pura heroína. Quando os primeiros sintomas da abstinência aparecem, eles não veem alternativa a não ser se entregar à pressão psicológica imposta pelos misteriosos torturadores. Então se aventuram em um oceano de terror.

J. Kent Messum is an author & creative writing instructor who always bets on the underdog. His first novel BAIT (August 2013, Penguin Books) won the 2014 Arthur Ellis Award for ‘Best First Novel.’ His second novel HUSK (July 2015, Penguin Books) was optioned for an international TV series by Warp Films in the UK.

Messum lives in Toronto with his wife, dog, and a pair of cats. He is currently working on his third and fourth novels. He teaches Creative Writing at the University Of Toronto, and is also a book critic for the New York Journal Of Books.
