Ummm??? Is this an actual joke? How did I FINISH the book and still have no idea what happened??? Why it happened??? Like how do you write a mystery book or whatever this book is supposed to be but my point is nothing about this book was that great. Everything was mediocre, the writing, the characters even the plot the only reason I kept reading was because I was waiting for the punch line ok you got me why did they lose their memories??? But the entire book is the same thing over and over again idk who I am and then the book ends and there’s no explanation of why any of it even happened? What was the FREAKING point?!?!? Colleen, Tarryn listen—— I just wanna talk: 🤦‍♀️ I feel like I must have missed something but idk what lmao. send help. I am flabbergasted. Baffled. Annoyed. I feel like I wasted my time.

Also this review is for the whole never never series but it’s not really a series it’s basically one book that they split into 3 parts for who knows what reason and still managed to be unfinished. These authors are just blindly typing smiling away like idiots — plot holes where??? I don’t see any plot holes. 🙃🙃🔫

not CoHos best work by any means, and i wonder if thats because theres the influence of a co-author.

i think the concept is interesting and i did like seeing how charlie and silas worked to together to figure out what was going on. but part 3 and epilogue were a let down for me.

part one 3.5 stars
part two 3.5 stars
part three 2.5 stars

Review also available on my blog The Shameful Narcissist Speaks.

My first impression of this novel broken in three was of amazement.  Charlize or rather Charlie and Silas have no idea who they or their families are, nor do they have a clue what happened to them to cause this.  Through a series of events, they both realize they're in the same boat and try to figure out what the hell is going on and why they're in this situation.  Attempting to both solve the mystery of their memory loss and keep anyone from realizing it's occurred would be daunting enough, but they also must navigate the social travails of high school, family life, and the fact that there's bad blood between Silas and Charlie's fathers.

This novel had so much fucking potential, and the authors completely shit the bed in the third act.  They either didn't have the skill or didn't care about all of the plot coupons they presented, but never cashed in.  In the first part, there's a scene where Silas finds blood in his bed, and you think it's going to have something to do with how he and Charlie lost their memories.  Not only does it have nothing to do with their amnesia, it's never even explained nor brought up again.  You think the bad blood between their fathers' failed business venture is going to have something to do with it e.g. something they were working on together went awry or they used their kids to test some kind of memory melting device.  NOPE, nothing like that.  They fall back on this tired trope about fate and soulmates, which I'm okay with if done properly  There's nothing in this novel to suggest Charlie and Silas live in a world that's any different from our own; there are no other magical/mystical elements, nor is it ever brought up or suggested that it's happening or happened to other couples in the same situation.  Why would it only be them

I feel as though the authors wanted to write this compelling mystery, and the first and second book sets it up perfectly with all of the intrigue mounting to the point where you can't put it down.  I just don't think they had the skill/experience to bring everything to fruition.  They probably wanted to make it more than just a YA romance, but sadly with playing this angle, they made it cheesier and less believable.  It's a such a shame that a book/series that started out so strong had to end so disappointing.  For these reasons, I can't recommend Never Never.  There's no reason to read a mystery that's not only unresolved, but never had a satisfying resolution in the first place.

Never Never is frankly terrible and feels a bit like a fourteen-year-old's first book. That might sound harsh, but I know what Hoover is capable of, and Never Never is nowhere near her best.

I was excited about the premise (two teenagers who have been best friends since childhood wake up with no memories and have to figure out what happened to them) and the start was promising.

Unfortunately, the plot isn't entirely coherent, there is a weird kidnapping subplot that gets dropped, and the ending is a huge let-down. Never Never is basically a heap of wasted potential.

Wouldn't even recommend this to Hoover fans unless you're determined to read everything she's ever written.

4 ★★★★✩ to never forget
This book is for you if… you enjoy young adult fantasy with a lot of bitter-sweet romance, a cute male main character and a strong lead heroine. This book may be for you even if you didn't appreciate other Colleen Hoover books.

⇝Preface.
I have read one or two series of this author but there was too much melodramatic content. The main characters usually suffer from some sort of trauma but they are just so exaggerated and overly tragic that I felt fed up with it at some point in the past. I do acknowledge the importance of including these in books but it sort of became Colleen's trademark in my eyes and I stopped going for her books. It's been a while since I've read one of her books and can't remember whether Colleen dealt with trauma in an appropriate manner so I might feel different about them if I read them again (which I probably won't).

⇝Overall.
This turned out to be way cuter than I hoped it would be. My good friend Dora, recommended this series and since we usually agree(ish) on books I decided to give them a try despite all the bad memories. I was not disappointed.

I found it particularly fascinating to see how Colleen interprets the importance of experiences, memories and similar influences. I agree with her stance - which she conveys through the characters - that they are highly significant for character development.

➺What’s happening.
We enter this story from Charlie's viewpoint. She suddenly finds herself in a school lesson, unable to recall how she got there. Her entire memory is wiped out. As she tries to make it through the day without getting caught she meets Silas, who - apparently - is her boyfriend. Silas doesn't remember a thing either. Together, they try to figure out what exactly happened and thereby slowly uncover their past bit by bit.

It doesn't take them long to find out, that both had their horrible secrets. Learning more and more about themselves, they begin to question whether they would even like to become the person they've been again. And the even bigger question: what did they see in each other? Despite all this, their time together wakes up feelings inside them both.

First things first, Silas is adorable. His cuteness made me grin so many times. Charlie was a bit irritating sometimes but I overcame that pretty quickly, I guess. She is a really tough woman and the world sure need more of us. I found it most interesting to see them coming together within their own reality and with each other.

Straight garbage! The first 300 pages sucked me in and I LOVED it BUT the rest of the book was awful. It felt like falling off a cliff. Actually the ending would have been better if the main characters really did fall off a cliff. NEVER NEVER read this book!

This book has so many bad reviews that I almost didn’t read it. I think it is mostly because people expected something different. I think people expected more of a thriller based on how this started, when really this is romance with a tiny bit of fantasy mixed in.

The most important part is that it kept me reading. I had to know why these two people had lost their memories at the same time. When we find out why- yes it was a little cheesy, but I did enjoy the ride, so to be honest I am not going to fault the book for being a little cheesy in the end, because most books are.

There were a lot of storylines here that led to the demise of their relationship and I think the moral of the whole book is that sometimes people who are really good together make a bunch of mistakes that ruin their love story, but if they can look past those mistakes they can still love one another again.

Definition of a mindfuck.

I was confused for 80% of the novel but the process of trying to figure out what was actually going on was so much fun.

If the second chance trope was a book it would be this one. What better way to start fresh than to lose all your memories and try to rebuild your relationship with your childhood best friend?

Likely the cheesiest ending/plot twist ever written but i’m a hopeless romantic at heart. i can’t say i hated it lmao

I had zero clue what to expect going into this book.
Part one started off a little slow. I wasn’t really sure what was going on I was trying to hypothesize right along with the characters. When the little twist happened at the end of part one I was super excited to see where this book was going to go.
Part two had some extremely wild points where I was like thinking to myself, “What is going on right now?!?!?” Part two built up a ton of suspense. It allowed you to try and come up with some theories about what was happening to the main characters. Going into part 3 I was really excited to see how it would all finally play out.
Then part 3 happened... literally every single theory the book built up was thrown out the window. To be spoiler free, what actually happened to them was the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. Then they the epilogue made it even worse and more silly to read about.
I guess I just feel like the book let me down. It had me building up so cool theories and then everything just fizzled out.
Personally I wouldn’t recommend this book. That being said I still love these authors and will definitely continue picking up titles from them in the future. This book just did not do it for me in the end.

"I'd rather love you at the bottom than despise you at the top."

Although the story and setting were exciting, the plot left me feeling unsatisfied. I was expecting more, not because it was Colleen Hoover novel, but because 2 people wrote this book!

This had a really interesting premise, if not so much of a great execution. Two teenagers who seem to have forgotten all of their memories must work together to find out how their pasts are connected and how to regain what's been lost. There's a lot of secrets and lies, family drama and broken promises.

I was really invested in finding out how this was going to end, as there's the constant question hanging over Charlie and Silas over how and why the two have lost all of their memories. However, as the story progressed (especially as we enter part 2 and beyond) everything unravelled very quickly from a good time thriller to something entirely implausible and ridiculous. There's a lot of teenage angst too, and although I'm really not the target audience here I still found it really grating.

Another aspect that irritated me was just how these teenagers spoke. Silas writes pages and pages of heartfelt love letters from the age of 14 that feel as though they've written by someone double his age. I have a 13 year old son, and believe me when I say they don't write like this. Or act like this. He's 100% invested in his PlayStation. I'm not entirely sure why the authors chose to make the characters this young to be honest as the story would have worked perfectly well in an older couple with all the emotional maturity to match the plot.

Meh. Great start, bad ending.

Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

How many synonyms for utter and complete nonsense can I think of…hogwash, balderdash, rubbish, baloney…just NEVER NEVER pick this novel up!

Unpopular opinion, I’m not a CoHo fan, but I did like The Wives and The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher. This novel deviates from her typical adult thriller genre. It’s definitely YA, I should have read the synopsis, and sooooo caught up in teen angsty melodramatic love. I literally wish my memory restarted in 48 hours so I could forget I read this book (but leave a note telling myself to never read it).

Silas and Charlie start day 1 not knowing each other and yet being drawn to each other. As the plot unfolds they trace their footsteps over the past two weeks to find out the truth of their disconnect.

I wish there was something good I can say; honestly I flipped through 100 pages skipping full scenes and useless letters. I should have DNF.

My reviews are very similar for all of her books to be honest!

Anyone that is my friend on here will know I am a devour crime/thriller girl and I very rarely step out of this genre…. But a very good friend suggested I read Verity and once I had I straight away ordered another 10 of her books!!

I have to say I love them, they are all romance based with a twist - some of them dark and some of them more light hearted. From the first page do I know 95% of how the book will end - absolutely. But I enjoy her style of writing, the storyline and the twist that is always there!

I will always be looking out for more books by CH moving forward!

Fast romantic read. I didn’t really get the ending but after reading some of the reviews I kind of get it now.
Charlie and Silas both lose their memories the same day.
They have a past together that they can’t remember.
Together they try to figure out who they are and what they mean to each other.
The book doesn’t really explain the memory loss but more of a spiritual awakening.
What they begin to remember about themselves they don’t like and it’s up to both of them to change how their future will be.
Not my favourite Coho book but great message in the writing.

Ooof. What the heck did I just read?? And for 358 PAGES?

The concept had such promise and in the beginning few chapters I was really intrigued and interested. Then…it went downhill. Things got weird FAST. I don’t know how to say this other than it was JUST DUMB. There are SO many plot holes I can’t even start to count them. What was the point of this? I have more questions than answers. I don’t know how this was a series before it was re-released in one book because it just doesn’t make sense.

Just NO. This should’ve been a DNF but I had to see how the ridiculousness ended.

I wish I Never, Never picked this up.

After seeing very mixed reviews on this book I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Saying that Colleen Hoover is one of my favourite authors so I had high hopes for a good read.

At the outset I was extremely confused, maybe even more confused than the characters themselves! However, after then reading the synopsis it made sense that I was actually meant to be confused and it was all part of the story…

I was totally drawn in by this book. I loved the 2 main characters and how Colleen swapped between their POVs. It was a typical style for Colleen and I thought the pacing of the story was perfect! The first third moved quite slowly, giving you time to get to know the setting and characters, before exploring too much further into the unveiling of the plot. I think that whole cast of characters gave a perfect balance to the book and the supporting characters, like the siblings, really helped to form Charlie and Silas, the 2 main characters.

I also really enjoyed this book as it wasn’t too much overly detailed steamy romantic scenes which I don’t really don’t enjoy reading.

Despite a few logistic issues…I still really enjoyed reading this book as it was so unique in its nature which can be hard to find! Definitely not your typical romance book but all the better for it in my opinion. I am so happy with how it ended…bring on a sequel please!

It pains me to slam a #CoHo book, but this was so dumb. I loved the idea of BFFs Hoover and Fisher alternating writing chapters, building the story on the fly. It sounds so fun, but this story isn’t interesting nor believable, and has no real resolution. The writing is marginal at best and goes on for all eternity. Edit that shit down! What a waste of time and $15. #thankunext
