Rate this book
When Greg runs into his ex-friends-with-benefits during a business trip to Nashville, her long legs and curvy body instantly make him regret calling it quits.

There’s one slight problem though. Ivy isn’t just any she’s his boss. His older, very sexy, secretly dominant boss.

But Ivy proves to be a temptation that Greg can’t resist, and he agrees to meet up with her later that night. It starts out harmless enough…merely two old friends catching up.

Until the moonshine starts flowing, and Ivy makes a shocking confession.

Before the night is over, Greg finds himself back on his knees for her. And this time around, Ivy may decide to keep him for good.

Dana has quickly become one of my favorite authors! I ready all these books back-to-back and couldn't get enough. I am sad that the series has come to an end, but I enjoyed it so much and feel like it got better as it progressed.

What's inside:
•Reverse age gap
•FemDom
•Secret dating
•Possessive

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5

This is another short novel, but with office romance, which I love!
Greg and Ivy's story is amazing, and I'm so happy Greg got one! Their relationship is off the charts and so steamy! Ivy was such a perfect match for Greg. They worked together so well, both during steamy scenes and otherwise.

The epilogue was great, with updates on the growth of friendships and relationships. Thank you so much to Dana Isaly and Julia Murray for the ARC. All opinions are my own. 🖤🖤🖤🖤

I am so sad to think this is the last book in the One Night Series.

Greg had a quick fling with his boss in Tokyo. Now a year later they are both in Nashville and ready to start off where left off.

I love this book in the series. Greg is completely ok with Ivy being the one taking control and it’s great to see. Dana is the freaking queen of the spice!

There really isn’t a full on plot in this story but we do watch Greg and Ivy’s relationship grown and build trust towards each other in this night that they are rekindling. I mean this is the One Night Series, are we really here for a plot. 😅

The epilogue was perfect. It gives us a quick update on each relationship and how they are all growing together. Their friendships turning into a big family.

There are some great conversations Greg and Ivy have together about their relationship, children, jobs and even religion. It shows that it isn’t just about the spice with them.

Tropes: Reverse Age Gap, FemDom, Possessive MMC, Office/Workplace, Second Chance

Kinks: Light BDSM, Dirty Talk, 🍆 Spanking, Begging, Crawling

TW: Infertility, Struggling to Conceive, Mention of Anxiety/Panic Attacks

I had the amazing opportunity to Alpha read this DIME of a book. Thank you so much, Dana for allowing and trusting me! You're my #1 girl, and I love you 🖤

This book follows Ivy and Greg a year later from their fling they had in Tokyo. Ivy is Greg's boss, and they want to be together, but they can't because Ivy doesn't want to risk everything that she has worked so hard for. Until Greg runs into Ivy in Nashville for a work conference.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading Desires We Seek because of the ending. I am sad to see this series end, as Games We Play was my FIRST ever book that I read from Dana, and that's when I became OBSESSED. There is not much of a plot, but what I loved about this book was watching Ivy and Greg's relationship grow and build trust towards each other. I loved seeing Greg do anything and everything for Ivy. Also, I loved how they could just have random conversations with each other, and you can still feel the chemistry between them, you can feel their love for one another. The spicy scenes were SCRUMPDILLYICIOUS, and I would crawl for Ivy, point blank period. I loved how the whole gang was brought together in the end, and I'm not going to lie, I shed a tear or two. This book is my 2nd favorite book in the One Night Series (Games We Play will always #1). This book flowed so great, and I obviously love Dana's writing, but I feel like with this one she outdone herself.

TW: infertility, struggling to conceive
*SPOILERS*

I’m soooo sad this series is over, I really hope we get bonus epilogues in the future because I’ve really enjoyed this series!
So, this one is Greg and his boss Ivy… I love their dynamic and I wish we had a little more flash back to them together the first time! Solely because I just genuinely enjoy them and a couple so much!
One thing I will say… Jack and Quin struggling to conceive.. whilst I like that this is included because sadly people do have this problem.. I don’t personally think it fit so well with them as a couple? I can’t even really tell you why I think that, it’s just a feeling I’ve got! If I was going to pick a couple/throuple that’d have that issue I’d have said maybe Wes and Zoe? Or Greg and Ivy with her being older but I guess that’d be a bit too obvious? (Not that there’s anything wrong with that! It just tends to be trickier as is ladies get older!) but that’s just my thoughts on it.
I’ve honestly loved this series so much, and I’m so glad I didn’t believe the bullshit that kicked off last year and just read games we play anyway, because I’d of missed out sooo bad!
Thank you for the ARC Dana, I very much appreciate it 🧡🧡

- Reverse age gap (her : 45 / him : 30)
- Femdom (very light)
- Boss / Employee
- Secret hookups

This is the last book of the One Night Series... Kind of makes me sad! 🥺

Greg was the most mysterious one of the group, we didn't know anything about him until now... Turns out, he was having a quick fling with his badass boss back in Tokyo when everyone thought he was working 👀🔥
A year later, they cross path again and the fire ignites again straigh away.

I'm kind of disappointed that we didn't see the first hooks up on page, the thrill of the unknow of the beginning... But the level of spice between them makes up for that 🔥🔥🔥
I was scared of the Femdom part because it's not my thing, but it was very light so I enjoyed it actually.

I hope to see them all again in some kind of way, like 10 years later maybe 😁
This book was a nice conclusion to the series 🖤

Ivy and her f¥€k boy Gregory have a great ebb and flow to their relationship. They pick up right where they left off a year ago. Though she is the domme I love how she switches depending on her mood. It’s been perfected between the two through trust and being open with one another. Which is what I could feel when reading between the lines.
Gregory is the perfect sub for his boss lady. He truly cares about his mistress that extends way beyond the bedroom. This was such a spicy HEA! Thank you for giving me a free copy of this book!

just wanted more

Out of the novella series, this one I found myself struggling with a bit. We didn’t know Greg all that much as far as the friend group went, but I lacked that rivalry connection for an employee/boss hookup, which is thing was from not getting to see the glimpses of their tryst prior to what takes place in the plot of this story. They were a fun interaction nonetheless and I liked their dynamic and banter, I just wished I was more invested in THEM together to really cement things.

First I'm so sad the series is done! Didn't know that once I read Games We Play that I would have found one of my favorite authors.
Second I love that this book is a reverse age gap, haven't read very many and it was so good! The fact that she is a femme dom is the best so the spice is perfection.
Also the ending and how everything is tied together is the best and makes me so happy.
5/5 must read book!

Looking forward to what’s next from you, Dana!

The final book in the One Night series. Ivy is Greg’s much older boss. After avoiding each other since their last encounter, they reconnect at a conference in Nashville and sparks fly again. Ivy doesn’t only take change at work but in the bedroom as well 👀 and Greg is more than happy to oblige.

I loved Greg and Ivy. This felt like the perfect ending to Dana’s one night novella series! Thank you Dana for the ARC. It’s been such a joy to read these characters stories and I’m sad to see them go!

Did someone ask for a Reverse Age Gap Fem Domme? because that's what Dana has given us folks in Rules We Break.

Ivy is Greg's HOT and much older boss. They hook up a year ago in Tokyo.

A work conference in Nashville changes everything between them and it all starts with line dancing.
Ivy doesn't only take charge at work but also in the bedroom. 👀 We love a woman in charge.

I would GLADLY crawl to her any day of the week if she asked.

Thank you to Dana for trusting me to Alpha Read this phenomenal piece. she truly never disappoints.
I am sad to see this series end. I've loved this friend group so much their chemistry as a group and the individual couples is captivating and Dana truly made them all come alive in this series.

And so we’ve come to the end of another one of Dana Isaly’s remarkable series that she’s worked so hard to write and publish for her most dedicated fans over the last year and a half. In the last month or so we saw the last entry in her series about Nick and Holly, and now we are seeing the end of the One Night series, which I have enjoyed so much from beginning to end.

This last entry features the workaholic member of the One Night series, Greg, and his strict boss, Ivy. The book opens at the same time the events of Desires We Seek are happening, and Greg isn’t happy to have been forced to leave celebrating in Tokyo with his friends all because his boss snapped her fingers and summoned him to work late. His mood swiftly changes when it turns out Ivy isn’t summoning him to work after hours, unless “working after hours” is code for “let’s do naughty and dirty things in my office and then see where this goes”.

Rules We Break picks up a year later, eight months after Ivy and Greg broke off their secret relationship due to Greg’s constant anxiety they would be caught and lose their jobs. The pair are in Nashville for a work conference, but it’s Ivy’s birthday and they have a night free to go celebrate by catching up, having some drinks, and seeing what Nashville has to offer in terms of nightlife.

From there, you can likely guess where things go. I mean, we aren’t reading this book to play canasta and drink lemonade. Some moonshine is consumed. Some terrible line dancing is done. Some slow dancing in a dive bar is done. Most importantly, a lot of talking is done, notably about how Ivy has decided to retire at the age of 45 because she feels she’s given too much of her life to her job and she wants to actually live the life she’s worked so hard to have. To her, that means she can finally have Greg like she wanted to a year ago, if he’s willing to give it a try.

If you’re a fan of the One Night series I don’t need to tell you that the spice is as excellent as always, with a nice spoonful of domme/sub dynamic, praise kink, and a tantalizing bit of slight sadism that made me the happy kind of squirmy since it’s a favorite trick of my own. What I loved more than the spice (because the spice was expected) was the playful dynamic between Ivy and Greg. They make each other laugh, they are physically affectionate in that warm and casual way I enjoy myself, and neither one of them is weighed down by angst or emotional scars. They’re just two adults ready to enjoy life and each other. That was just one of the best things about the whole book, since sometimes that’s a hard thing to find in erotica novellas involving kink. In my opinion, if a partner isn’t willing to laugh in bed with me, then why are we even there?

I’m not sad to see this series end, because it’s only right it ends here. Everything has to end sometime, and it’s good to go out on the most natural note. Thank goodness it’s a pretty high one.

I was provided a copy of this title by the author. All thoughts, opinions, views, and ideas expressed herein are mine and mine alone. Thank you.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰:
This is book 5 in the One Night Series. Each novella follows a different set of characters and while each can be read as a standalone, the series is better enjoyed if read in order.

𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:
We got a peek of Greg and Ivy at the end of book 4 while everyone was in Tokyo and we all knew something (...errr well someone) was going down between him and his boss. We find out that they had a bit more then a 'one time fling', but broke it off since Ivy was Greg's boss...

This book picks up a year later where we find Greg and Ivy at a conference for work in Nashville. Ivy's given up so much for her career and she's ready to settle down. Greg sees everything his friends have, and while he's overjoyed for them, he is still a bit envious and wants that too. Both Ivy and Greg have an explosive chemistry and are ready to go all in and give a real relationship a go.

Ivy's bossy, Greg's a bit of a brat but I love how this was a very light sprinkle of a domme/sub relationship, and it stayed solely in the bedroom. There was some spanking, some crawling, that fine line of pleasure and pain, but Ivy and Greg definitely made up for all the time they lost... several times. This book was very minimal plot, but I loved seeing the dynamic between Greg and Ivy. They were fun and playful. I love the way they bantered and teased. I felt Greg was always the most mysterious one (maybe expect for Owen) so I enjoyed getting his story.

It's crazy this series is over and I'm having mixed feelings about it. loved getting an extended epilogue that gave us a little update on all our One Night couples. Seeing where their HEAs have taken them, how they are all still a big family, just doubled in size with double the love!

𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬:

When I’m in her presence, I go from my normal, confident, emotionless self to a teenage boy just waiting to do whatever she tells me to do.

“I will do anything to see you in that dress, Ivy. I will crawl to you. I will kiss your feet. I will give you so many orgasms you can’t even stand after. I will do anything for you to let me see you.”

“I want to dive into that sweet cunt, mistress. I want to spread those lips with my tongue and suck hard on your clit, just how you like it. I want to tease you with my fingers until you’re screaming my name and pulling my hair—until your body gives in and comes all over my face. I want you to squeeze my head with your thighs until I can’t breathe. Fuck my face. Use me. Please. Fuck. Please, use me.”

“Good boy,” she breathes. “Yes, baby. That’s right. Right there. Make your mistress come all over that tongue. Just like that.”

“Do you know how fucking sexy you look? This tight black dress still wrapped around your waist, my cum leaking out of this pussy. Fucking sexy.”

“I want to fuck you until you see stars, Ivy. I want to fuck you until the only words you can say are ‘yes’ and ‘more.’”

❗️SPOILERS ❗️

Rules We Break is book #5, and the final book, in the One Night series. This follows Greg and Ivy's relationship. Not only is Ivy his boss, but it's also a reverse age gap, she is 15 years older the him. She's also dominate in the bedroom, and I LOVEEEED that. Gotta love when a guy who dominates outside of the bedroom can be submissive inside.
______________________________________________
🔥 “Good boy.” That’s right. I am a good fucking boy.
______________________________________________
When in Tokoyo a year ago (see book #4) Ivy approaches Greg about "fucking again." For a few months they mess around in secret but it becomes to stressful to hide and they call it off. While they are in Nashville for work, she asks him to go out with her to where she tells him that she wants to date him, and how she feels like she put so much effort into work that she missed the chance at happiness. Greg is such a sweet guy, he wants to give her everything, and he's the last of his friends to finally get his well deserved HEA.
______________________________________________
🩷 "Ivy likes me. She wants to date me, be with me, show me off. No more keeping what we are to each other in secret. That woman is mine, and I’m hers."
______________________________________________
🩷 "I want the dating, hopefully the marriage, maybe the kids. Whatever you want, I’m down for. I want to give you the life you said you’ve missed out on the two decades. Anything you want, Ivy. I will give it to you.”

______________________________________________
AND... I loved the epilouge and being able to see what our favorite couples have been up to. I still can't get enough of Owen, Hudson and Aurora and now they have a baby, who was conceived in Tokoyo - so I gotta know who the baby daddy is.

This series is really short, each novella is about 100 pages, and was a really quick read. I still stand by #4 being my favorite but I would definitely reccomend the entire series.

Book Order ⬇️
#1 Games We Play (Jack & Quinlan)
#2 Secrets We Hunt (Wes & Zoe)
#3 Burdens We Carry (Owen & Aurora)
#4 Desires We Seek (Hudson, Owen & Aurora)
#5 Rules We Break (Greg & Ivy)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

💜 Female Don/ Male Sub
💜 Reverse Age Gap
💜 Possessive Male
💜 Dirty Talk

I am so sad that this is the last book in the One Night Series! But I thought that it wrapped up the series perfectly!

We got to see Greg at the end of the previous book Desires We Seek when he had a quick fling with his boss in Tokyo. Now a year later they are ready to pick up where they left off.

I loved seeing their relationship together. And I loved how Greg is completely ok with Ivy being the one in control. Especially since there’s not tons of books with Female Doms.

And the epilogue! It was perfect a perfect conclusion to the series! I loved the update on each relationship and how they are growing! I love that their friendship is turning into a big family!!!

Blurb:

When Greg runs into his ex-friends-with-benefits during a business trip to Nashville, her long legs and curvy body instantly make him regret calling it quits.

There’s one slight problem though. Ivy isn’t just any ex: she’s his boss.

I wasn’t prepared for this series to be over. Games we play was the first Dana book I found and fell in love with.
Rules we break along with the other 4 in the series did not disappoint. As none of Dana’s books ever do so there’s no surprise.
The whole series as a whole explored different tropes and delivered flawlessly. Masks, arranged marriages, friends to lovers, poly and then dom/sub relationship.
The details given so reader’s understand as much as possible about the past and present of each story is incredible. There’s no doubt that each character is madly in love with their partner(s).
I love the power play. The description of consent being verbally given especially in these circumstances. The proper and safe way to have a relationship like this.
Greg was the least mentioned throughout the series. We never knew much besides the fact that he worked. A lot. Which explains a lot now.
Ivy is a hardworking, boss lady who does not bow down to corporate men. When you’re that powerful you don’t become soft for just anyone. Greg is the right one.
Probably isn’t the best review but I don’t want to give too much away. This series is a must read (although check triggers like always). Also will definitely be a series I will have physical copies of on my shelf as well.

Love love love it. What a perfect ending to the five bachelors story.
I was so happy to finally read Greg's story. He was always the one in the background.
Ivy is proper boss lady, literally she was his boss. Just not in the boardroom but in the bedroom too. She is a Dominatrax.
I haven't read a book about one before so it was refreshing to see it from that point of view.
Greg was equally submissive but dominant when he needed to be.
Their relationship was forbidden so they couldn't continue, but she had enough of sacrificing life for work and decides to choose him.
Well the night they spend that one weekend was so hot, I needed a release myself (if you know what I mean).

That epilogue was perfect, as we got to catch up with the gang and see them all happily tied down by their BBW, Fierce and strong woman. I loved that they were all Curvy and confident in their own skin.

If you have read the one night series so far don't give this one a miss because it was everything and more.
Quite sad that this was the last of them. Think I will read the whole series again, just to cheer myself up again. 💜

Great finale to the series!

Rules We Break is the final book in the One Night series. It’s a Domme/sub second chance romance.
Greg is a powerful, controlled businessman. He is strong, except when it comes to his boss.
Ivy is a bada$$ boss who is powerful and successful. She has lead the company into their highest profits, but it comes at a personal cost.
Greg and Ivy had a hot but secret relationship. They both ended it after a few months due to the stress it was taking on each other, keeping such a intense connection secret. But a business trip changed everything.
Rules We Break was a hot, smutty story, with sweet emotions, tremendous trust and vulnerability between the two of them. Their power dynamic was different and interesting, and their banter was playful and flirty.
The story also touches on some emotional and difficult topics that lend credibility and reality to all of the couples/throuple. I loved that we got glimpses of all the relationships and had the group together again.
Rules We Break was a great finale to this series! I’m sorry to see this end but am excited for what’s next by Dana!!

Emotional Filth!!!

That's what I'd definitely call this book. This was definitely the perfect end to a well written short series and I really couldn't have seen this going any other way. The journey has been a interesting one for Greg but I think he was definitely paired up with the best person for him.

There was NOTHING in the previous stories to indicate the side of Greg that I saw in this and I absolutely LOVED the element of surprise it gave. And the way the author talked about a few sensitive topics was also interesting. They weren't brushed over as if they weren't important but they were also not talked about so in depth you'd feel like they were a BIG deal. Just facts stated firmly and clearly and reassurance provided when need in the most appropriate ways.

As for the Spice I dont think I'll ever remember these two without pausing to reimagine Greg on his knees crawling around for Ivy and that by itself is the truest form of female victory!!!

This story most definitely brought this group of friends full circle and I loved it. So, a solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐for rating and 🌶🌶🌶🌶 for the unconventional spice!!

Rules We Break – One Night Series Book #5 - Review

Couple: Greg & Ivy

Author: Dana Isaly

Tropes: reverse age gap, boss/employee, workplace romance, spicy reads, workplace romance, second chance

Review: A super short and spicy read! This book is the last installment of the One Night Series and does not disappoint. It is a dual POV read and can be read in one go.

The book is about Greg and Ivy as they navigate the revival of their old relationship. While this trope of reverse age-gap is not my typical read I did enjoy this read. It is super spicy and  witty. I thought Greg and Ivy were two characters who were perfectly written for one another.

Dana did a good job of incorporating the fear Ivy has for her reputation and company into this short read. I enjoyed reading this because Ivy has to overcome a lot to be a female CEO and Greg is someone who never forgot Ivy.

The spice in this book is hot and I felt like it was written well. I liked how developed they both were for the length of the book. I also like how Dana had Greg evolve in many aspects for this story.

Rating: 3/5, super short and spicy

I have to start out by saying I am devastated this series is over now.
I absolutely loved all these characters, seeing them all pop up in each other's books and the little family unit they have together.
They are beautifully written short novel's, about how each character finds love in one night.

I was so excited for Greg and Ivy's story, and it did not disappoint. This story was well-written, discussed important topics like consent and safewords, plus it was seriously steamy the whole time.

I loved Ivy, she is the definition of bad ass, girl boss, but than you get to see the reality of what it took to for her to get where she is and what she had to sacrifice in order to achieve her goals. Greg is smoking this whole book, and I love he isn't intimidated by the fact that Ivy prefers to be the dominant one in the bedroom. I loved every minute of it.

The extended epilouge got though, I cried, because I don't want these characters stories to end. It was amazing to see them all again, to how their life's had progressed and to hear that their all happy.

Loved this series, and I can't wait to read more by her.

💜 ARC REVIEW 💜

*This book releases on May 26th*

OMG, this was the perfect ending to this amazing series!

Greg and Ivy were absolutely amazing, I loved their story. The banter, the reverse age gap, how they treated each other, and specially the SPICE! Guys if you haven’t read this series yet I highly recommend you to do it, cuz it’s honestly totally worth it.

And the ending? It was so sweet and perfect, honestly I couldn’t ask for more! I loved seeing all the characters together again in the end, and seeing how every single one of them were happy!! 💜

This is a series where you can find many kink’s throughout the books but also serious topics and you could say a really lovely found family! I’m sad that it has come to an end but I’m happy that I could get to know these characters!!

What you’ll find:
-reverse age gap
-boss x employee
-domme
-light bdsm themes
-fertility issues
-🍆 spanking
-begging
-crawling
-dirty talk
-possessive hero

This is the fifth and final book in the One Night Series. The story follows Greg and Ivy, who had a brief fling in Tokyo and have now reconnected in Nashville. The book showcases their relationship as it grows and builds towards trust over the course of one night.
Although there isn't a full-fledged plot in the story, the character development and conversations between the two protagonists are what make it a great read. The author has done an excellent job of creating a romantic atmosphere, and readers will enjoy the dynamic between Greg and Ivy.
One of the best aspects of the book is the epilogue, which provides an update on the relationships of all the characters in the series. It shows how their friendships have turned into a big family, making it a satisfying conclusion to the series.
Overall, Rules we break is a fantastic addition to the One Night Series. The author has successfully created a steamy yet emotional story that will leave readers wanting more. If you're looking for a quick and enjoyable read, this is definitely a book worth picking up.

This is the first book I’ve read where the female is the dominant in the BDSM relationship, and god damn that was hot! It's not specifically my kink but it was still very attractive. I completely adored the sarcastic and teasing nature between these two, it certainly kept the story light and quite funny at times. Although there isn't much of a plot in this book, you do however get to see Greg and Ivy's relationship develop and mature - from friends with benefits to no turning back, dating. I read the first book of this series, Games We Play, at the start of last year and then completely forgot about this series, but after reading Rules We Break - I am definitely onto read the other three books.

'“You’re just a bonus. It’s like the opposite of a signing bonus. My quitting means I get to keep you around.” “Like a pet?” I ask her, smirking when she just rolls her eyes again. “You are such a little shit, do you know that?” '

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Well, as we all know, I think Dana Islay can do no wrong and this novella in the One Night series?.. oh yeah, it was pure perfection! “Rules We Break” is a taboo story of a boss/employee one night hook-up that turns into more… i mean, so much more! This story is so hot, I’m pretty sure I was sweating and my Kindle was melting the entire time I was reading. I’m here for a taboo relationship and I’m even MORE HERE when the HEA makes my heart sing loudly! I couldn’t get enough of Gregory and Ivy. I read this in one (very quick) sitting and honestly, I would have read their story for hours and hours if I could have. Yes, the steam is OFF THE CHARTS and oh so good with a MMC sub, but their connection is also undeniable. Isaly SLAYS the age gap trope and the fact that this one was a reverse age gap? I mean, obsessed! I’m not sure how she packed SO much into only 100 pages but y’all, the One Night Series is everything. Don’t skip out on this!
