Veering well clear of the failures of yore, a truly cataclysmic series of battles have set the stage for something profoundly internecine. With the Elite 4 and their army of Pokémon unleashed upon all the cities of Kanto, the stakes have been raised exponentially. Sloughing off the shortcomings of the last volume, the level of heart pumping tensions bursts at a far quicker rate here.

Old faces surge from the past to connect with the news. Strange bedfellows are joined and the ensuing battle are as epic as that could have ever been expected. Well prefiguring the group battles of the GameBoy Advance era, all battles roar with their complexified prognostications.

Careening this way and that, we’re back to an another injection of adrenaline just in time to prepare for the end of it all.

Pokemon Adventures is just so cool. The ways they use Pokemon are always incredibly smart and zany, and every Pokemon fight keeps you on your toes. Seeing characters return and interact is always a fun experience, and this volume is chock full of it. This is the last of the volumes I borrow from my cousin. Now, I wait until I can start buying them myself.

Yellow's "secret" is revealed at this end of this volume and it was a pretty cool twist. This volume keeps upping the ante and honestly reminds me of someone's fanfiction with all the crazy reimaginings of familiar faces. A new ship was born though cause SabrinaxGreen <3. The remaining "gym leaders" of Team Rocket pair up with the good guys using the Spoons of Destiny to take down the Elite Four. Agatha and her Gengar/ghosts take on Blue and Koga...Sabringa/Green take on Lorelei, and Lt. Surge and Bill take on Bruno. While Yellow and Blaine scramble to locate Red and/or Lance.

Very exciting volume I think this arc of the series has found it's feet.

Some very interesting mechanics explored, and some very intense fights (Red vs Bruno is finally shown). Adequate progress to the story. There's a total of four volumes dedicated to this arc (4, 5, 6 and 7), which is a bit much when you realise how much story was covered in 1, 2 and 3, but as I said, this one provides adequate progress, which is satisfying.

Overall, a volume with a lot of momentum.

This was a very different way to see Red and get to know different Pokémon and trainers. I love that we follow Red instead of Ash like the anime. I also love that in this book Red needs help so we get to see how he interreacts with Green.

This manga is so far removed from the actual mechanics of pokemon that it's hilarious. If you read this knowing a lot, then you'll be disappointed, probably. Or you're gonna find this to be the funniest piece of pokemon media around. Which it totally is.

Red faces Bruno and Loralei of the Elite Four, and ends up encased in ice. But, he escapes unscathed. Now, Green and Yellow are out to find him. And, everyone is out to battle the Elite Four.
Funnily enough, Sabrina--who I don't remember being on Team Rocket in the anime!--brings forth "The Spoons of Destiny" from her Alakazam and pairs everyone up in groups of 2. The spoons seem to know what is best. Then, the pairs are off on their separate but similar journeys.
Each pair ends up having an exciting battle with the Elite Four, except one who is rescued by Red during Surge and Bill's battle with Bruno.
After Yellow is turned into a female, we are left with a cliffhanger ending, but it's not so bad for me, since I have a couple other random Pokemon volumes to read now as well.
I have been quite enjoying the volumes from the Pkmn Adv. series I've read. If the anime had been more like this, I probably would have loved it even more than I already do, too.

Yellow continues to be awesome, other than that this volume was a little boring to read. The conflict between the Elite four, Team Rocket and the good guys has been stretched out far too long by this point. I still love this manga, but I will be very happy to see this storyline end.

I was tempted to give this 4 or 4.5 stars, but this volume kind of gave me everything I want out of Pokémon adventures. There is a lot of group bonding and relationship building, particularly between protags and enemies/former enemies. It has one of my favorite tropes ever in it (tho really it’s a adjacent to my fave), which is when the party splits up and has individual conflict and team building with their new ally and enemy. For example, the dynamic between blue, Agatha, and Koga was one of my favorites, and it made the fighting even more entertaining.

I also appreciated a lack of significant typos in this one, though I’m also realizing how little Pokémon cared about brand integrity when these manga were coming out. Still I like the uniqueness of each Pokémon starting to form now that enemies with unique abilities are becoming allies to fight other uniques (Arbok vs arbok for example). I also appreciate that they are just steering into the wordless communication of battle moves, which I think is probably better to keep the story going and just assuming that the Pokémon understand their trainer’s desires in battle.

All of the battles were great and I’m glad we got to see basically everyone in the Gen 1 cast: the e4, the gym leaders, all the protags, even bill and oak contributing some significant battles. The only one missing is Giovanni, who I’m assuming may return at some point with the earth badge.

Spoilers-

Regarding the twist at the end, I wonder if anyone has done a reading of Yellow as a metaphor for trans peoples. I haven’t read further so maybe my theory won’t hold up but I think it’s possible Yellow’s disguise as a boy could be a metaphor for trans women disguising themselves as men (ie being in the closet) to get by. Alternatively Yellow could be a metaphor for trans men but I don’t think that would hold up as well — since I’m assuming Yellow goes on to live as a “she” after this reveal.

TLDR: A much welcomed improvement upon the previous volume. Much more entertaining. 4/5

Longer Review: This volume would almost get a 5 after the previous one. I am really glad I decided to continue the series. This volume has a lot more action in the volume and it really makes great use of the abilities of the different pokemon used by the trainers. I also really like that the trainers use very creative and unique strategies. In addition to that, I like the characters that they use. They each are unique in the way that they operate. The story might be a little unclear, or weird, but it also seems a bit unfair to expect a very deep plot from a Pokemon manga. I am reading it so I can see cool Pokemon fights and if I get a cool story too then it is like a bonus. If you also are looking for cool Pokemon fights, then check it out. 4/5.

Ah, gotta love a team up volume. Why the group splits into different teams makes sense and the dynamics of each team were different enough to be interesting, even the less obvious pairs brought something to the table.

It was also good to see Agatha, Bruno, & Lorelei getting more time and backstory to show their different personalities and the motives behind their actions. It felt as though they were powerful and talented, without having to handicap the abilities of the Pokédex holders or the Gym Leaders.

Logically it makes no sense that it worked, however, Koga's decision was such a Goth™ move that I can completely overlook that. It's ridiculous yet so extra and badass that I don't even mind.

In this book, the real action of this segment starts! Yellow and all of Red's associates meet at Cirise island, where they plan to take on the Elite Four. Red's friends like Blue, Green, Blaine, and even all of the leaders of Team Rocket. In addition to this, the members of the Elite Four decide to strike terror on the region of Kanto. This sparks outbreaks and causes towns to be destroyed. However, the most compelling part of this volume is that the author gives the full breakdown of how Red went missing. Meanwhile, Red's allies team up against the tough members of the Elite Four. Intense matches break out as breakthroughs are being made on where Red went. Will they be able to survive?

I really do not like Yellow's story because it's all about looking for Red instead of doing her own thing like the previous generation's story. I mean she does have her own character development, but after that- they'll remind the reader constantly that Red is missing, we have to find him, and the Elite Four is out there destroying the region! (I do not mind the Elite Four as the antagonist, btw.) I just wish Yellow has her own story that doesn't lean on the the previous characters, because after Yellow the next generations is just gonna be doing their own thing with the very limited interaction from the previous characters!

Events are really starting to fall into place now with some well placed flashbacks answering a lot of questions and moving the story toward it's final arch. I am really liking the pokeball gadgets. Between the fishing pole, nun chuck, and ninja stars, they can do all sorts of cool maneuvers.

It’s unsurprising that the moment Pokèmon Adventures Yellow decides to stop messing around and dives into its central conflict by bringing in a good chunk of its cast, it actually ends up being pretty engaging!

Things are finally coming to a head, and the series finally feels like it’s paying off prior story and character setups. It’s all incredibly basic, of course, but it also comes to show that plot needn’t be intricate or innovative to be effective.

4/5 - Maybe the best volume in the series so far?

In the sixth volume of the Pokemon adventure, Yellow is still looking for Red. Along with Blaine. He search has lead him to the headquarters of Team Rocket, on Cerise Island. While on the land, Misty, Brock and Ericka try to protect the cities that are under attack by the armies of pokemon from the Elite four. When things seems to goes really wrong for Blue and Koga, they are mysteriously rescue...
We also discover that Yellow was hidding something all along, but won't get the answer until the next adventure.

I really have love this one and can't wait to read the next one.

The way Kusaka and Mato portray the Pokémon world and aesthetic in this manga is amazing. The battles, the interaction between the evil teams and the trainers, the pokémon and pokédex; it's genius. Not only does this installment contain beautiful art, great villains, incredible character development, but also plottwists.

The series really captivates you and hooks you into reading as much as you possibly can.

The fight against the Elite Four Members are pretty creative and they use their pokemon in pretty creative ways. I also kind of like the twist with the Team Rocket members as we learn their new goal. Also I am not sure what they are going for with Yellow's twist or what the point of Yellow is besides the fact it is a reference to Yellow Version.

A lot of action in this volume, as the final showdown starts taking place. Some interesting match ups with old Team Rocket foes involved, and we get a better feel for the motivations of the Elite Four, as it is made clearer the adverse impact humans are having on Pokemon. Good, well paced read.

Still a little too long for its own good, but the author has a lot of fun with Pokédex entries, using the descriptions to give the Pokémon battles really creative gimmicks and strategies throughout the book. Can’t say this entire arc has been good, but this volume was a fun read.
