This movie was supposed to be my big break. There’s an enormous budget, the director is an oscar winner, and the script is beautiful.

But they want to film it in February. That’s complicated for an arctic fox shifter like me. We have a biological need for prolonged physical contact during burrowing season. I normally spend February cuddling with my family, not filming a movie in the middle of the woods.

The studio said they’d find a professional cuddler for me. That seemed a little awkward, but I agreed to it. I figured they’d hire a woman or another male omega. But no.

They hired Dimitri Cross.

He’s the retired NHL player I spent my teenage years drooling over. Technically, he’s an arctic fox shifter too, but he’s also half grizzly shifter—and an alpha—so he’s built like a tank. I’ve always had a weakness for huge jocks who could throw me over their shoulder.

How am I supposed to cuddle with this guy all month if I can’t even go near him without getting butterflies in my stomach?

What am I going to do?

Snuggleslut is a low-angst romance set in the omegaverse with a size difference, knotting, and mpreg. It’s book two in the Burrowing Hearts series, but it stands alone.

Well, it was definitely snuggle slut 😂🤭

But there were many things I didn’t like. This was too porny for my liking. Not like other books I’m used to by this author.

You know the drill, sex > emotional connection. So it did lose my attention for the romance. However, it wasn’t insta lust/sexualising each other, which one of the reason I keep reading Bellows’ books. If you love lusty and sex-focused in your romance, this might be for you. Me, not so much. And some of the lines were cringey.
I’m very fond of your asshole. Wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to it.”
yeah, not my cuppa.

And there was a scene where Dimitri named Evan’s dick. His name was Simon.

“He could be a bossy dick. Simon says touch me. Simon says make me come.”
Ehhh, what the fuck was that.

This definitely didn’t has that grip on me and even with the consistent plot, I didn’t feel the excitement.

I need more arctic foxes in my live! This was the best book to end the last year and the best one to write the first review of 2023, so thank’s Iman for finding this gem.
Needless to say, the title is program, so make yourself comfortable to face a lot of cuddles. 🤩🤗🥰

I want to rub up against him like a cat. He was kind enough to not say anything about the way I reacted to his hand on my cheek, but how will he react when we have to start touching each other, and he finds out I cuddle as aggressively as he plays hockey?

This is an insta-love insta-lust story. But it’s not cheesy or over the top sexual … well, yes sex is the one theme, but it feels just natural. I don’t know how to describe it. The longing between Dimitri and Evan is so deep, its dripping off the pages.
The sexual scenes are tremendously lustful, dirty, but also extremely sweet.

“I want you to use me like a Fleshlight. Do you think that’s possible? I want you to move my body up and down on your dick like I’m a toy.”

I love the connection between them and the dynamic they establish. Dimitri has a wonderful caring heart and will do anything to make Evan’s dream come true. He is an alpha with no attitude 💜🖤💜

For a jock, he’s very perceptive. That isn’t normal. I’ve dated my share of jocks, and most of them had the emotional range of a teaspoon.

Evan is an omega who has never been fully accepted, he is special. But he is also a power bottom, very demanding and willing to experiment.

“You could name your dick Simon,” Dimitri suggests.
“What? Why?”
“He could be a bossy dick. Simon says touch me. Simon says make me come.”

So 😊 the knotting … 🔥🔥🔥

Well, I think I will re-read this one a lot in 2023 just to revisit this feeling of absolut bliss and completeness.

Each kiss, laugh, and tender moment only clarify what should have been obvious from the start: Dimitri is the perfect alpha for me. No one else will ever compare.

A fast, cute, low angst read that left me smiling.

I love how easy Amy Bellows books are to read and all her characters are so cute together that I always am left happy at the end of the book.

Can’t wait for more of her books to come on audio!

Fluffy and sexy cuddlefest.

I love cuddles.

I wish I got to spend a whole month snuggled up with my partner.

Evan is cast in a starring role on a new TV series. It's his first big break, so he's decided to take the job even though the start of filming coincides with the arctic fox shifter's burrowing season. Since he can't bring his family on set, the producers arrange for a professional cuddler, and due to the last-minute circumstances, he ends up not only with an alpha male, which is unusual enough, but to top it all off his cuddler Dimitri is an ex-NHL player and the source of Evan's teenage wet dreams.

They're both immediately attracted to each other but decide to put a pin in it until they're no longer involved professionally. This lasts for about 2 days until they cave and have some pretty hot sex, with Evan enjoying some light CNC over Dimitri's girthy cock.

I was pretty devastated for them when . But don't despair, they work it all out, and I really appreciated that Dimitri insisted Evan follow his dreams anyway and not settle. Dimitri is so sweet and understanding and he reassures Evan about all of his insecurities. Also, Spider monkey is a fabulous nickname.

In those initial 2 days, they manage to get interrupted by phone calls at least 3 times, and that was about 2 times too many for me. I feel like it dragged out the beginning a little too much, and I would have loved more content of them during the rest of the month they spent together on set, before we just abruptly jump into the future.

There's a reasonably explicit mpreg birthing scene in this, if that's not your thing I probably wouldn't recommend this. That being said, the birthing scene isn't nearly as disturbingly erotic as the one this author has in A Pebble for Lewis.

I strangely feel like there should have been a bonus scene after the epilogue, and I am a bit disappointed we didn't get to see Dimitri and Evan have fun sex while Evan's parents babysit the kits.

Anyway, I'll definitely read the next one when it comes out, because...well, did I mention the cuddles?

Sexual content: prostate stimulation, coming untouched, anal sex (strict top/bottom)
Kink: CNC (mild), mpreg, size difference, knotting

This gets four stars because it was the cuddliness I needed and I’m feeling nice today. In theory it needs at least two stars deducted for:

Chapter 1-24 continuous plot line
Then it just abruptly moves on ()

And continues with

ePiLoGuE #1
Chapter 25 *Seven months later*
ePiLoGuE #2
Chapter 27 *Two weeks later*
Official Epilogue
Epilogue *15 months later*

But before that it made me smile a lot and it was cute and hot :)
Having sex is one thing, but offering him my slick as lube is on an entirely different level. What‘s wrong with me? (P. 66)

Heart melted

I cover him with blankets and kiss the top of his head.
"Mitri hugs," he mutters to me absently as I crouch down next to the bed to find his phone somewhere in the pile of his clothes.
"In just a bit," I say.
"I have no hugs. Please hugs, Mitri."
I can't help but smile. That's my little spider monkey, begging for cuddles.“ (p. 131)

Snuggleslut is a sweet little comfort read, exactly what I’ve come to love and expect from Amy Bellows.

I have a confession to make though it’s probably no secret to my long time GR friends… for a long time I avoided mpreg, alpha/beta dynamics, heats, knotting, etc. The dynamics just never worked for me and I often times found myself cringing or laughing or both. Amy Bellows has completely won me over with her shifter style and world. I absolutely love the subtle, thoughtful, meaningful social statements she makes and the way she pushes back on gender expectations and norms, turns them on their heads and subverts toxic masculinity and the patriarchy all at the same time. Meanwhile, her stories, characters and plots are always sweet, heartfelt comfort reads that soothe my soul. It’s exactly what I want in my stories and Amy always delivers, Snuggleslut is no exception.

I’ve alluded to this before as well, I still don’t seek out mpreg or omegaverse but I trust Amy Bellows (and Roe Horvat), so while it’s not typically my jam, I know these two authors will win my heart no matter my reservations with the genre in general.

This story feels like a hot chocolate in a cold day; in other words, just right what I needed.

Snugleslut is a low angst, comforting and emotional satisfying tale ; where practicing gratitude , family , humor and romance are the cornerstones of the plot.

And this being an Amy Bellows shifter book , one gets plenty of spicy love scenes with hilarious nesting practices, and fabulous happy ever after.

Not my favorite. I didn’t like that they weren’t really burrowing together. It felt like there was needless stress about their bond instead of happy falling in love.

Well, this one was definitely not for me but the blame is all on me - I never should have picked this up at all.

The book was all slutty with little to no romance imo, I do not like reading porn - and this was just that, 200 pages of it at that. Evan and Dimitri were good characters but I don't think they ever went beyond the superficial connection. In hindsight, I should have stopped reading this at the point when they decide to make their week at the cabin full of sex and then go their separate ways.

This was not something I usually look for in my reading time so I am positively bummed out about having wasted a precious few hours on this book. Hopefully, I learnt something from this experience and won't pick out books that are clearly not my taste.

I really enjoyed this. Two cinnamon rolls in love. One happens to be the childhood crush (famous athlete) of the other and when they meet they're both in new phases of their lives. A transition for each that they must learn to navigate and understand together.

The cuddler/cuddlee aspect was well explained but I feel anyone who did not read the first book might be confused and miss the gravity of the situation. The burrowing bond that foxes form isn't explained as thoroughly as it probably should be. Since these are stand alones, then anyone reading this won't understand that a fox who does not take an entire month to form that bond won't get the mate bond with their chosen individual at all. In other words, each pair only gets one chance to bond and if that bond doesn't take for any reason then that's it- no waiting til next year or trying to live with one another without the bond. That's crucial information I don't recall being given in this book.

So... it's pretty low on the cuddling for a cuddle themed story. Is that a terrible thing to feel disappointed about? Maybe not for most but I think it's best if you adjust your expectations if you're anything like me. I'm a lover of slow burns so I thought this book was going to hit every one of my buttons. Don't get me wrong, it's great but I feel a little bereft after finishing. The focus was more on building sexual tension by preventing the protagonists from having sex instead of building it by having them utilize some self control while cuddling. I also wish the last few chapters had been... more romantic and less smexy? It's a weird complaint but it felt, to me, that the beginning of the book was a few days of getting to know one another filled with sexual tension then the rest of the book was just *smut mixed with telling us things rather than showing us* until the babies were born. I like smut but I do prefer that beautiful achy warmth that comes from feeling love through the eyes of someone else.

Content Warning-- consensual nonconsent occurs. This is a role play when partners consent to engage in sex where they pretend it's not consensual. It's well done here (which isn't always the case) but I do feel the need to mention it. I admit to being caught off guard for a minute since I wasn't expecting it in such a sweet story and I am one of those individuals who needs CWs for **reasons**

Edit to add- it's been a few days and I've managed to put into words what bothered me about the CNC- lack of communication. There was never a discussion of this role play before it happened, and it was very much in the moment. One individual had had time beforehand to think about what he wanted but the other was never given proper time to consider the dynamic and determine how he felt prior to having it sprung on him mid sex. Unacceptable. If I'm going to ask my partner to pretend to be a r@pist, then it should happen outside the bedroom where they have the opportunity to think things through and consent properly. Saying 'I want...' while already joined at the hips is pretty unfair. How do they say no without ruining things? How do they know they'll be just as into it when rational thinking comes back into play ? A discussion would have allowed everyone, reader included, to consider the ramifications of the role play and consent properly. While I appreciate the implication that a safe word was available for the sub, I don't recall anything about the Dom having a safe word. Mutual consent is a key factor in role play (BDSM/kink) and the lack of such care along with the lack of mental preparation for such a scene has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Fluffy and heartwarming shifter romance!

A quick and dirty summary: Evan is an arctic fox shifter and aspiring actor who needs lots of physical touch during burrowing season (February). He gets the chance to star in a film but it’s being filmed in February, so the studio hires a professional cuddler. Turns out the cuddler is none other than retired hockey superstar Dimitri Cross aka Evan’s teenage crush.

This whole book was signature Amy and I freaking loved it! Evan and Dimitri are ridiculously adorable together. They fall very fast and hard, but it’s the nature of who they are and how they bond as arctic fox shifters, so it was totally believable. (It helps that Dimitri is smoking hot with a big … everything 😉.) Sometimes Amy’s story can get pretty darn angsty and tense, but this one just had a little tension and was mostly sweet as heck. I didn’t want to put this book down because I needed to see how everything worked out!

This book can be read as a stand-alone, but there are some really neat details woven into the world building that are a treat for longtime readers. As someone who has read all of Amy’s books, it’s been cool to see how the understanding of the magic has evolved, and I loved what we learn in this book.

I also really loved Evan and Dimitri’s family and how close they all are. It was so sweet and a fun aspect of being an arctic fox shifter. But the best side character moment was with Dimitri’s alpha dad. To avoid spoilers, all I’ll say is that his words are full of love and admiration for his son and it was so beautiful! I definitely teared up reading that scene.

If you’re new to Amy, I think this would be a great book to start with. It’s good for the soul and a great introduction to Amy’s writing style and talent at world building. Happy reading!

Amy Bellows has created a world of shifters here that is unlike any of the other PNR worlds I have read. I absolutely loved that in this world hetero couples are few and far between. This book can be read/listened to as a standalone as I had not read book 1 and it didn’t matter but after I immediately went and bought the audio because I wanted to know more. It’s so stinking cute but they are not without their heartbreak while hoping to bond. These books are feel good escapism. There’s a lot of love between the MCs and their families and made me feel warm and cozy.

Dimitri is hired by the studio to be a professional cuddler for Evan while he’s on set filming during traditional burrowing season and unable to be with his family. A snowstorm shuts down production and they are stuck together while their mutual attraction for each other is through the roof tempting them to turn this professional relationship into something so much more. During their time snowed in a lot happens which I won’t ruin, but watching them tentatively build a relationship built on true intimacy was beautiful and heartfelt. I enjoy a shifter book where they claim each other and jump straight into the physical but there is something very special about this series.

Lance West did a good job bringing these characters to life and I enjoyed listening to him. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this audiobook.

Snuggleslut is a "low-angst romance set in the omegaverse with a size difference, knotting, and mpreg" set in the same world the author has created for their shifters that can really be read as a standalone.

Evan is an artic fox ready for his acting career to finally take off. But what happens when the burrowing season hits while he's recording his first big project? He needs someone who can cuddle, otherwise, he's not going to survive all of February. That's when Dimitri enters his words. Again. But what is his retired NHL player teenage crush doing there? And how on earth did he become a professional cuddler? Is not as if Evan will complain about having that giant half grizzly half fox alpha cuddling him 24/7, but... How will things end once the month passes by?

Contrary to the first one, I felt as if this one had more action, you know, more things happening. I really prefer this one over the first one. It just has more... juice. The plot is refreshing as well as Evan and Dimitri. I don't know. it just had me giggling more because it's so so so cute! And they are amazing, I loved them so freaking much. It made my heart warm.

Still, it's another short and easy reading with more or less complicated feelings but amazing characters, worth a chance!

Story = 5 stars
Narration = 5 stars

This is such a great series. I think I loved this one even more than the first, which is surprising cause I thought that one was pretty much fabulous and hard to beat. I loved everything about this book. The characters were loveable and they had smoking hot chemistry. The plot was equal parts super sweet and super steamy. The heat was kicked up majorly in this book with some additional kinks that were a pleasant surprise and helped balance out all the snuggly cuteness. I would consider this a little angsty depending on how you look at it. The assumption of a HEA was always there based on the previous book and knowing how this author writes, so I didn't find it too angsty but there is alot of push and pull in getting there due to them supposed to being in a short term temporay business contract. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone that likes cuteness with some major non vanilla heat.

The narrator Lance gave a phenomenal performance. He brought the story to life. He expressed all the emotions and gave unique voices to all the characters that suited them well and made it a pleasure to listen to.

This was a wonderfully sweet read. I always love the extensive world building in this author’s books, because it makes reading them feel like a completely immersive experience. It very impressive how each of the shifter species have their own unique culture, magic, and customs. But, I appreciate how it all still feels very much grounded in modern life. I loved that Dimitri decision to become a professional cuddler was to help other arctic fox shifters pursue their dreams. It’s a beautiful way to do something meaningful with his life after loosing his own dream - hockey. It also ultimately puts him on a path to find an amazing new dream. Evan and Dimitri have an immediate connection, which makes their professional cuddling arrangement complicated for them both. I appreciated how they don’t hide their interest in each other as they try to figure out a way to be together. The writing is excellent, the world building is top notch, and Evan and Dimitri are lovely together. I LOVED this couple.❤️

A new favorite from a favorite author

I loved everything about Snuggleslut from the title to the continued world building to the intimacy and shared laughter between the characters. I love that the characters in Amy Bellows' books go through conflict while remaining supportive and communicating clearly with the people in their relationships and that really shines in this particular novel.

In her world, different shifter species bond in different ways, and the fox shifters allow her to showcase the strength that comes from being truly vulnerable with another person. They give us a window into the different ways that emotional intimacy builds and it's incredibly special.

I always love it when I read a book and I get to text a friend saying, "Holy shit, other people build intimacy this way, too! Look, it's in print!" I think that's what the best books do for us. They make us feel seen at the same time they take us on a journey with people we otherwise could never have met. That's what I found in this book and I'm incredibly glad I read it. You will be, too.

You need a professional cuddler. You get your hero.

This is such an amazing book! Low angst, very sexy, sweet, loveable and full of humor. I love the concept of arctic fox Burrowing Season. Having your cuddler be the hockey player you've drooled over for years is just too much. Half arctic fox, half grizzly, Dimitri is larger than life. Evan's big acting break involves Dimitri's social media presence. Becoming a professional cuddler after an injury ends his hockey career, leads Dimitri to Evan. Evan needs cuddles, snuggles, and will cling like a spider monkey. Their attraction is immediate and intense and inevitable. Enter a grandmother with a magic bee to help them complete their bonding. Think Ari and butterflies. Get ready for a birth to remember, with adorable babies... yes, babies. I was enchanted by this story from page one. I know you will love this book as much as I do. You need to Get. It. Now!

Work life balance

This one didn't hit quite as hard as the first book for me, though it was still really good! The necessary addition of magic at first seemed to take away a bit as there was no way around and this time the relationship "rules" really did apply, even though it seemed like maybe they wouldn't have to. But despite the other path there was still a good exploration into relationships and expectations, especially about what you gain and what you lose. So many think that it would be best to give up work opportunities for love, but if you give up one great passion for another what have you lost? And is what you have gained enough? This story really worked on and through that with different experiences and relationships that went different ways, as well as the one in the main focus. It was a really well done story overall it just took a moment to see that past the magic.

Pet peeves:

*How many times can a phone ringing interrupt the moment Dimitri and Evan are getting hot and heavy. Because at around 49%, my count was 4.

*Talking about your past hook ups with other omegas while you’re in bed with your current omega is a no-no. Especially after your current omega interrupts you several times saying they don’t need to know those things.

Loves:

*Evan being a spider monkey and needing all the cuddles with Dimitri.

*Evan being, surprisingly, a dirty, dirty man.

*Dimitri being willing to do whatever it takes to bond with Evan.

This was a cute little read. Definitely had some steam going on and even a pretty high sweetness factor. There is a certain element of insta-love, but I didn’t hate it at all. I wish there had been a little more snuggling/cuddling. There seemed to be plenty of sexy times, but not nearly enough snuggling for burrowing season.

Overall, a pretty nice read but had potential for more. A solid three stars for me.

Pretty cute. I don't like sweet books, and I still thought it was pretty good. I do like NEED however, and there was a little taste of that, but it could've been, and I wish it had been - even more.

The sex was way hotter than I thought it would be, it was close to D/s sometimes but not really, but still related. They kind of invented their own category, haha.
I just wished they would have had even more sex, as it was really interesting!

Also the concept for this book was really unique and fascinating! Really smart premise, it was nice to read something completely new for once!

I wish the Alpha would've been a little more badass, but that's just a personal preference. But for once I actually didn't mind that he was a little too sweet, as he too was afflicted with that sweet supernatural need for closeness, sex and connection, that I like so much, that's always just hot.

Really good story. Will read again!
