The King has returned! But so has the Queen…

Fresh from their trials in New London, Reece and his friends return victorious to the fantasy realm of Nasgar, finally armed with the location of Citadel.

Having unlocked the godlike powers of Kono-Zemsu and raising the level cap to 99, nothing seems able to stand in their way of finally reaching home and saving the people they love.

But things are not well upon their return.

The dreaded Goblin Queen has resurfaced, wielding dark powers beyond anything the realm has seen before. Plus, an old nemesis from Reece’s past is laying siege to his home village as well.

Trapped between two armies, Reece and his friends must reach the new level cap to become strong enough to overcome both foes. But as darker forces conspire in the shadows, the fate of not just Citadel but the entire realm of the Crystal Shards may be resting in their hands.

Will Reece be strong enough to stop them? With the power of a Kono-Zemsu he has a chance, but nothing comes easy in the Shards…not even with the power of a god.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is my personal 5 star rating system because I’m too lazy to write a review for every book.

5 stars -> OMFG. I couldn’t stop listening. I was engaged from beginning to end. The story & narrator was amazing. I 100% recommend this book & author. I was able to clearly follow each and every character.

4 stars -> It was pretty good. I would’ve rated 5 stars, But either the ending was lacking, I struggled to keep up with characters, or the story didn’t keep me fully engaged. The narrator was pretty good as well. I’m on the fence about recommending this book, It could go either way.

3 Stars -> It was boring at times & I missed chunks of the story. I most likely struggled to keep up with character developments. The only way I would recommend this book is if it was part of a series. The narrator was most likely average or just couldn’t fix a mediocre book.

2 Stars -> It was pretty horrible. I used it as background noise because I hadn’t had a chance to search for another book. The book either had a bad narrator, The character development was non existent, or the story was hot garbage. I would not recommend this book.

1 Star -> The absolute only reason I listened to this book was because i had no time to search for another one & I needed background noise. It was 1 step up from listening to the radio. I wouldn’t recommend this book to my worst enemy. Everything about this book was terrible. This is only recommended for people on death row and have absolutely nothing else to read.

As always Scott leaves me on the edge of my seat at the end waiting for the next book. By far one of my favorite LitRPG series to read.

Amused yet Confused

I really like this series and find it entertaining and hope it continues. I binged all 5 books back to back. The world is interesting and the plot suspenseful but the author could use a better editor. Throughout each book were m typos and mistakes that could have been easily caught.

Though this bugged me a bit I have read series with way more frequent glaring typos and more crazy mistakes but pushed through because of a good plot. So this wasn't too bad. I believe it happens from rushing and not having enough editors.

Regardless, I love the fast pace of the action in this series and was satisfied with each book, eventhough they often ended in a cliffhanger which I dislike.

Until this one, book 5 that is. It feels really rushed. While books 1-4 have about over 500 pages of writing, book 5 only has about over 200 pages. The characters leveling up, which before were more detailed fights, goes by in a blur in this book. Reece goes from level 87 to 97 in a blink and while some abilities or spells he would attain at certain levels were mentioned there was one used out of the blue that wasn't.

There was an ability and a being mentioned that were never introduced in the other books, unless there's a 4.5 I'm missing. For example, the ability "Breakfall" Aiko and Reece used to quickly return to their feet during the major fight in this book and the being called Lythandra that Reece mentions wanting to ask for help from but knew they could not because of rules which made me assume it was another AI.

Yet the only AI I remember introduced from the earlier books are the two "gods" of the only two safe zones visited, Karlis and Lennox, unless this being was learned from reading the Archives at the end of book 4. Even if so, it was never mentioned at the end of that book nor at the beginning of this one.

So I'm left confused wondering whether there's missing chapters from my ebook or something.

Despite this, I still very much enjoyed the series thus far, just not this book as much. I hope the next book when written is less rushed and edited better. I would read more from and recomend this author.

Back to their original settlement, they discover an army of undead goblins laying waste to everything.

In other words, all normal.

I admit I enjoyed the setting of the prior novel better, but this was also fun. I mean, OP, bad odds, betrayal, AI gods on the field, and to top it all off, titans. No problem.

It's time to squash and be squashed. Defend that settlement!

Funnily enough, this is high-level battle time.

The story is starting to drag, but I do really want to find out what happens in the end. I especially wish they would stop jumping back and forth to Bruce, since I find that whole story line boring. I will probably read the next book, but I doubt I'll want to re-read this one or the ones before.

Should have ended

Thumbs down. Book should have ended already. Just getting ridiculous and boring. Call it like I see them. So so read

Took forever for this next edition to the series to come out, and it's a pretty short read--but it was even better than the last book in the series imho.

Great series

After the long break between this and the last book I’m glad to see that the author hasn’t dropped this series. Great story can’t wait for the next book.

Very frustrating to wait this long for almost zero story progression. I don't understand how more reviews aren't similar
