Hearts of Montana #4

Honor's Mountain Promise

Rate this book
They both want a new start, but nothing prepared them for this treacherous journey.

Finally on the right side of the law, Aaron Long expected his life to take an upward turn. Instead, he ends up with a bum leg and driving a freight wagon through the wild Rocky Mountains. At least he has the joy of his newfound faith in God. The last thing he expects in the middle of an urgent delivery to Settler’s Fort is to discover a woman begging him to take her the opposite direction. She’s heavy with child, so he can’t leave her, but neither can he take her where she wants to go.

Katie Barlowe has never had control of her life. Especially not when her parents married her off to a successful businessman who was determined to start a ranch in the faraway Montana Territory. Now she’s a widow left on her own in these breathtaking but treacherous mountains. She’s determined to forge a better future for herself and the new life growing inside her. To do so, she needs to get back to civilization before the babe is born. When she finally finds a freighter to take her the first leg of the journey east, all seems to be falling into place. Then the driver is killed and she’s left with a stranger who’s unwilling to take her farther than a tiny mining town, far from Fort Benton and the steamship she’d hoped would carry her home.

When Aaron and Katie set out through the mountain winter, the journey ahead will change their lives more than they could have known.

Honor’s Mountain Promise is a wonderful novella! Those who have read the series will be happy to see Aaron living his life in a way that honors God, very different than the one he once lived. And readers who have not read the other books should be able to enjoy this story on its own, simply knowing that Aaron is a man changed for the better.

I loved the way these two main characters were there for each other, both of them jumping in to help and care for the other as they needed it. They had to push through difficult and painful situations, all while traversing a cold and dangerous land. The admiration and connection that built between Katie and Aaron felt natural and real. And even though this was a novella, the story was full and complete.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This fourth book in the Hearts of Montana series follows the journey of Nate's brother Aaron who wasn't the most pleasant person in the previous book. His injury has humbled him and I was impressed with his grit and determination in his job and helping Katie. The story follows a formula oft-used by the author- dangerous wilderness conditions, an injury or two, the desperate need to arrive at their destination before the winter storms leave them stranded, an increase of faith, and a dash of romance. Somehow I'm always up for the adventure! I loved Aaron's kindness with Katie and the way they supported each other. The delivery of her baby and the way he bonds with them both is endearing. I was surprised when the story ended as quickly as it did, but I think that meant that I was hoping for more of their story together.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I love, love anything Misty Beller writes! I have read all of her books so far, and they keep getting better. Aaron needed his own story, and here it is. But when he took off on a run for an urgent delivery, the last thing he was expecting was finding a woman stranded. And a pregnant one at that! Their journey was fun and exciting and I thoroughly enjoyed following the two through the snowy mountains of Montana Territory. The story may have been fun for me, but for these travlers, it wasn’t always an easy time.

As always, I so much enjoyed Beller’s characters, and the way they have their oelwn unique personalities, their strengths and their weaknesses. This adds so much to the story, making it all seem so very realistic. Though I’m not sure how I would handle being in These rough mountains, I would still love to take some of the trips Misty’s characters face. It’s mainly because they have such a unique and close relationship with each other and neighbor helping neighbor. There’s so much going on here in the story. Lots of twists and turns, mainly caused by the weather and traveling. I can’t wait until the next book by this amazing author!

PI’m giving Honor’s Mountain Promise Five Stars and I wish I could give it more. I encourage you to search Misty Beller books and start reading. Once you start reading them you will find it difficult to stop until you finish them all. You can search my blog for more of this authors books!

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

I was thrilled to find this at my library. I had read the rest of the series, but didn’t realize there was a Novella with Aaron getting his story. So fun! I really enjoyed the sweet story. I can’t imagine going through what Katie did-what a strong character she was! Great read!

My review today is on the Christian Historical Western Romance, Honor's Mountain Promise. This is book five in the series, Hearts of Montana. I'm a big fan of Mistiy's work and I'm always thrilled to get the chance to read the next one in her series. You can sit there in the summer to read her book and suddenly its so cold you need a blanket. Her work is that real. I know you are going to love this one.

Aaron Long is driving his mule team when he comes to an accident. The driver of the wagon is dead, his wagon turned over, and his freight scattered everywhere. As he checks the body he hears a noise, is that breathing? As he watches a woman walks up the hill, obviously with child. How can he help her?

Katie Barlow is a widow. Her husband died on their homestead. She was on her way to Fort Benton to see a doctor there. In the Spring she will head home to Philadelphia. She still has a month before she delivers so she should be fine. She had just got off the wagon when a wild cat jumped on the mules and they took off. Now she is stranded and must depend of the mountain man. Can she trust him to get her to a doctor?

A terrifying journey into the mountains with danger on every side. Can they make it to a town before her baby decides to come? God has a plan for these two a good plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

This is another great book from Misty Beller. Katie has been left as a widow and is expecting a child. Aaron is trying to turn his life around and is driving a freight wagon. They meet up and Katie wants Aaron to take her to Fort Benton so she can get home. The story tells of their trials while traveling and what happens. I loved it. This author really gets you involved in the story. You just feel part of it. I highly recommend this book.
I did receive a copy of the book, but this review is my own opinion.

Stumbled across this book, didn’t even know exactly where it was going and what it was all about. I must say it definably pulled at my hear strings. Could not stop until I come to the end of the story. The story is nothing complex as I even felt that the romance was so fast. One of those when people are forced to go through a traumatic event together, they come out in love on the other end.

Honor's Mountain Promise brings back Aaron and introduces us to Katie. Remember Aaron who was an outlaw to be feared - until God got ahold of his heart. Now he's trying desperately to live a better life and help others. When he ran across a wrecked wagon he was not so surprised to find the driver dead. However, he was shocked to find a young woman very much alive and expecting a child. How was he going to get this woman to a doctor at Settlers Fort still many miles and at least 10 days ahead? Katie had no choice but to trust him and God to see her through the journey to safety. Are they going to make it there safely? Will Katie really insist on going all the way back and return to Philadelphia? The journey ahead will be treacherous with the threat of snow, Aaron's crippled leg, and Katie almost ready to deliver.

Neither Aaron or Katie have had an easy life. Aaron was orphaned and he and his brother pretty much raised themselves. Katie was forced into a marriage she didn't want. Once again, a tale of faith and breath holding adventures keeps one spellbound. Don't miss this one! It just might be the best of all! Of course I say that with each book! They just get better each time.

We met Aaron Long in a previous book when he was on the wrong side of the law. He is reformed now and trying to follow God. Katie Barlowe left her prosperous life in the East to follow her husband out west. She becomes widowed with pregnant. She is trying to return East but things aren't going well. She meets Aaron and he helps her with her journey. On the way, they fall in love. A wonderful Christian western romance. Like in most of Misty's novels there are mountains and at least one horse. Enjoyable read.

Living in the time when wagons were the mode of traveling was very treacherous, especially in winter. Ms. Beller takes us on a wild and dangerous ride with Aaron and Katie. Although this book is shorter than a lot of this author's books it is packed full with danger and suspense. My heart was in my mouth with the things these two strangers went through together. As with all of Misty Beller's books I absolutely loved it and I wait somewhat impatiently for the next book she releases. I received a free download of this book from the publisher. This review is my own honest opinion.

What a great novella that gives us Aaron Long and Katie Barlow’s story and the struggles they faced together.

Aaron has come a long way from his days in a gang and being shot and his struggles to get back to living. When he comes across Katie and discovers she desperately needs his help he will do everything he can to keep her safe and healthy.

Katie left her home and comforts to follow her husband to this wilderness and when tragedy took him from her she decided to go back home. When another tragedy strikes she will face the hardest times of her life but with Aaron’s help, she will survive and find there may be something or someone worth staying for.

I love this series and was so happy Aaron has found his happiness.

What a lovely novella story! I couldn’t put it down till it was finished. This book tells the story of Aaron Long and Katie. She’s widowed, pregnant and stranded in the wilderness. Aaron comes along and agrees to take her to the town he’s headed to….along the way the baby Sarah is born. You’ll enjoy the story of them falling in love..so sweet! I always love it when a character from an earlier book gets his own story and happy ending.

A great story of perseverance and determination. Aaron and Katie’s fight to survive helping each other even through the dire circumstances kept me glued to the pages. A great story line that is well paced kept me fully entertained. I enjoyed the slow building romance, it was a beautiful addition to the story. I hated for the story to end and loved this book.

This story was especially nice to read because I loved how the author illustrated strength and trust in God. The mountains can be hard to travel especially when the wind is whipping around you and snow is falling . I could picture the wagon slowly trudging along as the mules made their way through snow so deep it felt like you were sinking into the ground.

I loved Aaron and how much strength he had. His compassion was easy to recognize as he doesn’t hesitate to help Katie out. I don’t think he knew that when he came upon the overturned wagon, that a very pregnant Katie was close by. The injury to his leg that he received was from a time when he was not on the right side of the law but he doesn’t let him slow him down. The transformation he has made thanks to God’s grace has changed him. Now as he sees that Katie needs his help he becomes very protective of her.

Katie is a good character who wants to get somewhere near a doctor as her time to deliver the baby draws near. God has other plans and finds herself alone with Aaron as her beautiful little girl comes into the world. I loved this part of the story because it shows the miracle of life and how God watched over Katie as she becomes a first time mother.

The adventure is filled with trials and I loved how Katie and Aaron lean on each other for strength as they travel into the days ahead. I’m glad that Aaron got his own story in this series because I loved reading how he turned his life around. The ending is a wonderful reminder that through faith all things are possible.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Honor’s Mountain Promise is a wonderful book about a secondary character from another book that I didn’t know I needed. I’ve read all of Misty M Beller’s books. All of them. So believe me when I say that I have encountered Aaron before. But he was not a good guy. In fact, I was pretty fine with him going out of the book and not being seen again. And then this book pops up. And I see Aaron is the main character.

I had mixed emotions. My memories of him were not all the best. Yes, he could change, but what would he be doing? And and and. I had questions.

I am pleased to tell you that this books amazing!! Aaron did change and he’s not honorable. But what does he do with a woman close to giving birth? She wants to go one way and he’s taking her the other.

No one is perfect. These two characters prove this. But they also prove that everyone can show compassion and help the other without judgement. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

Honor’s Mountain Promise by Misty M. Beller is a work of Christian Historical Romance. It is the fourth book in the Hearts of Montana series. Aaron Long finally finds himself on the right side of the law. With a bum leg, he drives a freight wagon. While making a freight run to Settler’s Fort with desperately needed supplies, he discovers a woman great with a child who wants him to take her and her unborn baby in the opposite direction.

Katie Barlowe was forced into marriage to a successful businessman who forced her to move to the Rocky Mountains. After his death, Katie, a widow, finds herself stranded in the Rock Mountains and desires nothing more than to return to what she considers civilization.

When their paths cross, Katie and Aaron find themselves experiencing a variety of circumstances, including Katie giving birth and Aaron dealing with his injury. The author does an excellent job of how God takes bad things and turns them into good for his purposes.

I read this book in one sitting because I could not put it down. While you could read this book on your own, I definitely recommend reading all the books in the series in order. If you enjoy Christian historical fiction, check out this book for yourself. I highly recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

Honor’s Mountain Promise swiftly exposes the danger and difficulties that propel the story forward. This quick read delivers the tale of a determined yet struggling widow and a reformed outlaw with a bum leg as they take a dangerous journey. And to make things more difficult, Katie is expecting a child. Soon.

I’m captivated by these two and love how their difficulties of the past give them the determination and grit they need to survive. I love Aaron’s caring heart, strength, and protective nature, and it’s easy to empathize with Katie’s situation, with so many uncertainties ahead of her.

The glue that bonds these two together are the elements of faith and God’s grace. I love the mountain setting, the anticipation of romance, and the growth of these inspiring characters.

First Line: Aaron Long tightened his hands around the mule team’s reins as the dog halted in the trail ahead of them, ears pricked toward something in the distance.

Honor’s Mountain Promise is the fourth book in Misty M. Beller’s Hearts of Montana series. This is one of those series where the books can be read as stand alones. The books share characters and there is some history you will miss if you don’t read the books in order, but you will enjoy the story even if you haven’t read the other books in the series.
In Honor’s Mountain Promise we meet Aaron, a former outlaw who is now a freighter (he does appear in previous books). We also meet Katie, a very pregnant widow who is trying to get to civilization before her baby is born with the goal of going back to her home in Pennsylvania - she never wanted to be a homesteader.
The story is not without tragedy and loss. But it also has plenty of love and hope. Katie and Aaron help each other through “medical emergencies” and in the process grow closer together.
If you enjoy historical romance, Honor’s Mountain Promise may just be the perfect story for you. Set in Montana, readers will learn about the hardness of life during the 1800’s.
While Honor’s Mountain Promise is written for the adult audience, high schoolers will enjoy the book as well. It could find a place in a K-12 Christian school library.
I received a complimentary copy of Honor’s Mountain Promise. This is my honest review.

Aaron Long has finally got his life on track. He has healed as much as he will from his trauma, and he has a faith in God that will see him through the rest. Starting his own business driving a freight wagon, he sees hope. However, all that changes when he comes upon a gruesome scene and a very beautiful and pregnant woman by the name of Katie Barlowe.

Katie is just trying to get to the nearest doctor to have her baby and wait out the winter and return back east to civilization. Promising herself she will never let another man control her. Yet she is in a horrible position and needs to rely on Aaron to get her to a doctor all the while hoping she can trust him.

This is their story and what a story it is for a novella. Author Beller has away with showing the pain and the troubles, but also shows the love that grows and the grit and determination to stay alive. To keep that other person alive too. This story showed the power of prayer, even if it was sometimes unusual. I am so glad we got Aaron's story.

I was provided a copy of this story from the author. I was not required to post positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

Will he rescue her or will she rescue him?

I must admit that I was quite surprised when I spotted this little book from Misty M. Beller. I had read the 3 books in her Hearts Of Montana series and thought that was it...and it was...until Honor's Mountain Promise finally gives some much desired answers to the infamous Aaron Long...

Honor's Mountain Promise was a quick read at just a little over 160 pages and I finished it in pretty much a single sitting in one afternoon. However, Misty M. Beller packs plenty of story – and danger for her characters – within those pages. I will tell you a secret...my favorite characters were probably not the ones you would expect, heir names were Cain, Abel, and Barney. But, you will have to read the book to find out who they might be...

This 4th Hearts Of Montana book is well worth the time spent reading – especially if you are a fan of the series. It's roughly novella length makes it a perfect afternoon escape into the 19th century wintry Montana wilderness...

Honor’s Mountain Promise is written by Misty M. Beller. This is part of the Hearts of Montana series. I have not read the whole series, and I did not have any issues following along. This author always writes such a beautiful story. She brings history to life with her story. This book is set in 1869.

Aaron has gotten his own story. He was introduced in a previous book. He has had a troubled past and has gotten his life together. He is working on a delivery and he runs into a very pregnant Katie. She is a widow and pleads for Aaron to take her the opposite way that he was going . He knows he can't refuse.

This is shorter then some of the author's other books - however she packs a whole lot of story into it. Watching Aaron and Katie on their journey was an amazing read. The author has a way of bringing you into her characters lives where you will not want to leave them.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.

Aaron is going about his every day life when comes upon a freight wagon accident. As he examines it closer, he find a pregnant lady who is now on her own. He decides to help Katie get to her final destination. Aaron has grown in his relationship with God and he gets an opportunity to put things into action. Katie is ready to make decisions for herself but is soon surprised to find out she might want an alternative.

I am always anxious to read the next book by Misty Beller. She has a way of bringing the reader in and taking them along an adventure. I have read the other books in the series and was anxious to see what would happen to Aaron. I was not disappointed at all! I liked how the story line was different than other books in the series. I appreciated the reliance of God in the story by Aaron and how he pointed Katie to Christ.

I would definitely recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.

Aaron has his own story! I've wanted to read more about Aaron since he first showed up in the series, and with every book that passed, his story seemed to be more desperate to be told. I'm so glad to finally get to read it. I loved the connection between Aaron and Katie. They were thrown together in an intimidating mountain challenge and both rose to the occasion. Both relied on God, and each other, in such a way that I read through the whole book with a smile on my face. The author manages to keep making things worse for the characters, but you know that it's going to be okay. Somehow, things are going to be okay, even if you can't imagine how they're going to get out of their current predicament. Honor's Mountain Promise is a shorter book, making it a quick, snappy read that will have you cheering all the way through. I received a copy of this book from the author through Celebrate Lit. Get geared up for another exciting installment of pioneers traveling through the treacherous Rocky Mountains during the winter. In this thrilling adventure, we meet a pregnant widow who needs rescuing and a ride back to civilization. Enter Aaron Long, a character in a former book in this Hearts of Montana series, with a redemptive tale for himself and Katie Barlowe. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the rest of the series. This novel stands well on its own as a satisfying historical story. Of course, it’s always nice to read an unfolding series in order for the most gratifying experience, in my opinion. The characters seem quite believable as do the circumstances and trials they must face. The compelling plot keeps readers engaged and rushing along to discover what will happen next and how it will all turn out. Both characters experience significant personal growth as they struggle to survive. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

Misty M Beller is among one of my favorite historical fiction authors. I was excited to have the opportunity to read her newest book, Honor's Mountain Promise. Oh my goodness, her books seem to be getting better and better. I adored this story of love, faith, history and hope. I thought Aaron and Katie had great chemistry. I had to find out how the danger, adventure and suspense would end for the two. It was an honor to take this journey with them.

I am giving Honor's Mountain Promise five stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romance. As always, I will be on the look out for future releases from Misty M. Beller.

I received a paperback copy of Honor's Mountain Promise from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. The review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

I enjoyed this book, but it was too short!

The author has a way of making her characters very real and the story relatable, even when none of us have gone through the same things. At the same time, I found the terrible things that happened to the characters one too many to be realistic. Yes, bad things happen to people and conflict makes an interesting story, but there was just too many.

Then, the characters had to be more heroic than a human could be expected, especially after the heroine had just given birth.

Good writing, kept you guessing, but maybe not so much happening and more time for the characters to get to know each other and develop. Of course, the shorter page length made for a great, quick read.

I received this book as part of a Celebrate Lit Tour, but the opinions are my own.
