Think you've got problems? Meet the patients in Dr. Burton's Wednesday-afternoon support Violet carries a jar full of demons. Roger can read minds. Akiko talks with her dead parents through the bathroom mirror. Joe is an exorcist. Brian is pyrokinetic. And then, of course, there's Charles. They've been thrown together by the luck of the draw, stuck with supernatural powers they don't want and can't control. But when something begins to pick them off one by one, the surviving members of the Wednesday Conspiracy find themselves the last, reluctant line of defense between the reincarnation of an ancient evil and the fate of the world.
I enjoyed the The Wednesday Conspiracy by Sergio Bleda. People seem fascinated with the idea of superheroes needing therapy. This is at least the 3rd book I've read on the same theme. I may have to start a category of that by itself.
But this was a fresh take - the powers are bit different and the characters are interesting. I've always been drawn to superhero comics - and I love the different take on the genre.
It may not be worth the $19.99 price tag, but if you can find it cheap, or borrow it, it's worth a read.
Superb supernatural story! Engaging characters in a fun, fast-paced adventure complete with humor and extremely first-rate art-work! I hope to see more from this talented writer/artist!
This horror, almost urban fantasy, graphic novel was a really compact and self-contained story with subject matter and art that proves, if it is still needed to be proved, that graphic novels can be more than the simple superhero, black and white, good versus evil stories. Although the ending of this story was a little weak, the overall story, feel and tone of the work and art tell a worthy tale. That this is a complete work means that the author is free to deal with characters in such a way that might not be possible in an ongoing universe (such as Marvel or DC).
