[close] Welcome to the Flappers and Philosophers Book Club. While the name of this book club itself derives from F. Scott Fitzgerald's collection of short stories, there are no limitations as to what can be read and discussed here. If you've read a book and you would like to share your thoughts, or perhaps start an interesting discussion around a particular topic, then please share! We would love to hear it! Everybody is welcome. _____ On the first Monday of every month, the #BookOfTheMonth shall be posted in the group. This will be randomly selected out of a list of titles. The discussion for this book will open on the first Monday of the following month, after the next #BookOfTheMonth has been revealed, so as to not spoil the book for anybody. If there is a book that you would like to nominate for #BookOfTheMonth, please message me, and I shall add it to the list.

[close] Do you have a pile of plays and scripts just waiting to be read? Did you subscribe to a play book club and need to catch up before the next box arrives? When you go to a used book store, do you grab every play anthology you can find? Then do we have the group for you! This May, we are setting out to read our stash of scripts that have yet to be read! Here we will track our progress, have open conversations on plays and get recommendations. Highly recommended for anyone looking to build up their personal knowledge of plays and theatre.

[close] Starting January 2025, I plan to begin reading through my last unread section, THE PLAYS, of The Well-Educated Mind [2003], which I first began in January 2012. See BOOKLIST for the reading order of selected plays by the author Susan Wise Bauer. They are divided chronologically through history: "Reading through History with Drama." Act I: The Greeks Act II: Mystery and Morality Act III: The Age of Shakespeare Act IV: Men and Manners Act V: The Triumph of Ideas If anyone is interested in reading these plays, you are welcome to join me. I will read in order and then I usually post a review; also, anyone is welcome to add his own review, too. I will begin in January of 2025. If I read one play a month, this project will take 2.5 years to finish.
