Emily Henry is a prolific author, and I enjoy her writing very much. Happy Place is her 4th book I read by her and I enjoyed her prose.
As Harriet and Wyn navigate the complexities of their fake relationship in front of their closest friends, they're forced to confront the lingering embers of their past love, and the possibility that their happy place might be a place where they're together. Although this isn't my favorite Emily Henry by a long shot, I did enjoy it. I especially liked the emphasis on mental health and the lacking self confidence of the friends. This would make a great beach or vacation read, since it doesn't take that much concentration. ...more

Harriet Kilpatrick, Wyn Connor, Sabrina, Cleo, Parth, Kimmy

I have really grown to really enjoy Emily Henry's books. This was no exception.

The story is told entirely from Harriet's pov, but it's not just about her. It's about the entire group of friends and how their relationship grew and changed as a group and as couples (because over the years they have paired up). Overall though it's about Harriet having to deal with Wyn after they broke up months ago and telling everyone the truth.

I generally love Emily Henry, but the ending of this one made it my least favorite of her books to date. Overall, it didn't make sense and felt out of left field. It was a very Hallmark-y ending, and while all her books are romcoms they generally show more respect for the interests and careers of the female lead. Will I still pick up her next book? Of course. However, I think this one just didn't work for me. ...more
