Ah, Cam. You make my heart go pitter pat. I'm a sucker for tall, dark, and handsome.
You know me, I love historical romance. I love the strong men and women -- no wilting flowers for me. Amelia was headstrong and intelligent, fiercly loyal to her family, and maintained her independent streak. Cam was caring and strong, and unafraid to express his feelings. All elements I love. And family historical series are the best because you can stay in the same universe where they can all live happily ever ...more

Lisa Kleypas knows her stuff I've got to say. I only discovered this author last year and I'm loving her.
This is book #1 in a series. Once again, I've managed to read book #2 first. And I do have to admit I liked book #2 better. This book is the story of eldest sister Amelia and Cam the gypsy who works for a character in a completely different series of Kleypas (The Wallflowers, I think.).
The jaded gypsy who all of a sudden sees stars when Amelia is near. The overprotective sister of a down on ...more

3.5 stars. Cam Rohan is half-Gypsy or half-Roma and is feeling the call to wander. He meets Amelia Hathaway and is drawn to her. Cam has to pursue Amelia, instead of being chased as a novelty. I wanted to smack Leo and his irresponsible behavior.
It was great to Lord & Lady Westcliff and Lord & Lady St. Vincent and the kiddos!! I'm going to like seeing The Wallflowers around the Hathaways.

I thought this was a good one. Not my favorite by Lisa Kleypas but very good. I loved that this Hathaway series seems to be incorporating her Wallflowers series into it! I miss those ladies. :)
One of my other GR friends mentioned that they got a little tired of Amelia trying to hard to hang on to her independence in the face of the fact that she obviously loved Cam, and it annoyed me as well. I tried to put myself in her shoes though and I think that she was trying so hard to hold on to it becau ...more

I enjoyed every second of this story. It is one of the first historical romances I have read that had a gypsy(well half) as the hero. They are usually my lord this or prince that.
Amelia is very protective of her family. They only have each other, so she does what she can to make sure that they stay together and have things that they need. This of course should not be her burden because her brother Leo is the head of the family. He hasn't wanted to fill that role because he has given up on life s ...more
