This was a really good book in this genre. I really enjoyed it and the author did her best to shock me. I love when authors do that, play with the reader and put up a show. A very entertaining read, in my opinion. If something like this happened to anyone IRL I would be very upset, but in fiction it works fine. All the characters are totally disturbed and I had a blast being offended, angry, disgusted and intrigued.

ok this was a strange one for me. i liked it, but i didn't want to. i went into this book completely blind, i didn't read any reviews beforehand, and this is my second Penelope Douglas book after reading Punk 57 (which i adored). i was not ready for the intensity of this book.
the entirety of this story was extremely taboo, and perhaps i'm just a wee bit soft because this was my first serious smut.

daughter of deceased parents is sent to live with "family"; an uncle an ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

ok this was a strange one for me. i liked it, but i didn't want to. i went into this book completely blind, i didn't read any reviews beforehand, and this is my second Penelope Douglas book after reading Punk 57 (which i adored). i was not ready for the intensity of this book.
the entirety of this story was extremely taboo, and perhaps i'm just a wee bit soft because this was my first serious smut.

daughter of deceased parents is sent to live with "family"; an uncle and two male cousins who live in the secluded woods.
now, the feelings and trauma from all the characters gives their actions complete sense. but it was hard for me to wrap my head around the sexualization of a character who starts off as a minor in the book and then is a fresh 18 for the remainder of the book.
and although the uncle is not biologically her uncle, it's still the principle that her parents sent her there to be protected, not used.
tiernans trauma of being an unloved daughter results in her trying to find love and acceptance from anyone she can which then leads her to form sexual relationships with the uncle and cousins.
then at the end of it all, she chooses to love and stay with the most problematic character out of all of them?! the one that hurts her and SPITS ON HER? why, just whyyyyy. she should have been loved by Noah; at least he was sweeter than them all!!! that broke my heart.
i loved how this book ended, i didn't think it would end happily but it did, for all the characters. even a relationship for Uncle Jake which came unexpected.

anyway, i settle on 4 stars because despite the fact that this book sorta kinda gave me the ick, i still absolutely adore Douglas' writing, the deep story, the multiple POVs, the backgrounds of all the characters, and the mood this book gave me as i read through. UM ALSO, the smut was an absolute 10/10. like, oh my god.
bonus points for including a playlist to go with this novel because i'm a serious music-obsessed freak and i loved matching this book to the lyrics of the songs they added throughout.
if Penelope Douglas reads this, i just want them to know how much i adore them.

All time favorite book!!! Super descriptive, it’ll make you feel like you are living in the reality of each character. There are several juicy plot twists that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Have your snacks, drinks, and blanket ready.
