I don’t often read historical romance and was surprised at how much I liked this book. I really liked all the characters and the story was good. Another Book of the Month book I’m glad I picked… even if it’s just taken me a while to finally getting around to reading the series. I definitely am liking this author.

I am typically not a Regency/Victorian period reader (the last few books I have read, not included), but I really enjoyed the way this was written. The angst that I forgot they (and period typical pieces like this)include has me turning pages to keep reading. Plus short chapters!!! It was a great change of pace from the longer ones I've been seeing. Overall I enjoyed this read and will be reading more in this series after I've made a dent in my bedside stack! ...more

5/5 stars; very bridgerton-esque! I loved this book and it only got better as it went on. the characters were so well-written and true for the time. the feminist movement throughout the story just made it that much more likable to me. in this time, it was hard to get a man to just listen to a woman much less allow her the right to vote and own property. this displayed the struggles of this time with a real-take on how love hardly existed or much less was the cause for marriage. sebastian and ann ...more
