As this story unfolds, you really feel for these young girls, children, orphans, who are sent to live with a foster mother. All is not as it seems to be, well, except for the psychological torturing these girls suffer at the hands of their foster mom. The three of them form an inseparable bond because of it. Foster kids with a story no one believes. Now, a body found under a house brings them back to finally, maybe, get resolution for the abuse they lived through.

This books starts strong. The first chapter hooked me and I couldn't wait to read more. There are a few POV and I didn't love all of them. The girls are a bit prickly, really only finding safety in each other, because they spent a few years together in an abusive foster home, and they stuck together ever since. I just read this author for the first time and I can't wait to read more from her. I liked the flow of the story and the twist at the end surprised me and I love that in a book.

This story is about Jessica, Norah, and Alicia and how they came into the foster system and then being placed in the care of Miss Fairchild. Jessica was first in her care and she was doted on by Miss Fairchild until she went to school. Then Norah came into the house and lastly was Alicia. They suffered abuse at the hand o ...more

Man. Sally Hepworth knows how to build complex, flawed and possibly very evil characters and is good at throwing in a twist. This one had all of that and more.
