I'm torn on this book. I loved the parts involving the house and Baba Yaga's story but I absolutely hated the modern day sibling characters. I didn't find myself with any empathy for Ballentine and her incessant whining about her ability or Isaac's inability to be truthful. Their overall relationship was so toxic it took away from the overlying story. Having said that, I do love the legend of Baba Yaga and her chicken foot house so my time wasn't completely wasted. ...more
