Absolutely FANTASTIC.

Why?

Because the author manages to surprise me at every turn. NOTHING turns out like you would expect. I adore books like that, which honestly, seem at too few. And the twists and turns were brilliant.

I can’t say too much about the story because it would ruin the experience so don’t read reviews or even the book jacket summary, just get started!

Most Harry Potter fans have seen the lists of books that say if you’ve been sorted into house A, you’ll like book B. This is a book for Slytherins. So many lies, twists, turns and betrayals. And this is pretty dark as well. But I liked it a lot and I’m interested to see where things go next.

The Cruel Prince is one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. I love tales of faerie cruelty and as this book literally starts with murder, I was taken in quickly and ready to find what else this book would hold. What I loved most about this book is that is very much focused on the love and loyalty of family, but also of making the best of a terrible situation. I usually don't go for fairy tales and not always a Holly Black fan - but this book completely enchanted me (pun intended). Everyone was flawed - everyone had a morsel of goodness mixed in with an epic amount of evil/selfishness/violence. And I flew through the story - yes the plot took me by surprise... which is refreshing. I immediately reserved the next book, thankful I don't have to wait to finish the trilogy. For some reason I love male reads that are total bad boys. This one was a total ass though, and somehow I still liked him. For some reason, even after how cruel he was.
