I am not going to lie, this is probably one of the most, if not the most, disturbing books I have ever read. And honestly, I am not even sure what to say. I have written a full review and deleted it several times. I don't have a weak stomach and I don't shy away from disturbing stuff, but this book got to me and I think it will stay with me for a very, very long time. I am not even quite sure how I feel about recommending this to people although I feel like it definitely is a book that should be ...more

It takes a lot to affect me but I am appalled!!! While this take on a dystopian future is a gripping read, it made my skin crawl and feel dirty reading it. I just couldn't give it a five!

I have always been cautious of government and I think a lot of government measures are to control us pions, but this is the most extreme take I have ever read. I recommend reading it if you want your distrust of government to soar.

It is a short novel and you can knock it out quickly because you can't put it down

You could look up the word nihilism in the dictionary and this Book would in the definition.

One of the bleakest books I’ve ever read. Why? Cause I think people have become so unfeeling that anything is possible.

A world where all animals carry a deadly virus and we kill them all cause we can no longer eat the meat they provide. What is the solution to this overpopulated world? Well remember Soylent green? Those people were unaware. These people legalize the farming of humans for food and it’s al

Ugh, oh God, no. What did I just read?

Animals and livestock get some disease that means humans can't eat them anymore. Sooooo... we turn to raising and farming humans to get our meat fix. Sounds like it could be an interesting plot for a dystopian novel (it kind of reminded me of Ashfall by Mike Mullin).

But really, what was I expecting?

I think the whole point of this book was to be provocative, shocking and straight up gruesome. And it was all those things. And more. Including horrible.

This felt like very-pro vegan dystopian novel. It felt pretty cliche- protagonist is deep in the culture/function of dystopian world when something happens, and he ends up the one breaking the rules (ala Freiheit 451 and so many other). I'll give the author credit for the twist towards the end I did not see coming.
