My first thought when the feelings were doing their things to the main character was: that she would never be kissed as long they were together.

Second: why does he have a dick when he's programmed for protection and basically… war?
Third: Nevermind. The love-making was hot and weird, but I liked it haha.
I have to be honest here, I was sure I'll rate this three or four, but nope. The author convinced me with her writing and great creativity that this story was worth a 5 star.
Oh, how my heart hurts when his original mission was revealed. Not for Tisha but for Ansel.
I requested an ARC copy of this book, and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily....more

I'm a big animal lover and the author of this memoir is as well.
I requested a copy of this book because I was smitten by one of the horses on a farm where we stayed during covid. Horses are gentle giants and one of the horses on the farm I was with my son proved that she would go out of her way to help me protect my son from this crazy goat who was obsessed with attacking us whenever we passed by (the animals in the farm was roaming free), so I know I have to read this book.
As someone who lived in poverty and starved for days during my childhood, it was hard for me staggering for me to read a true story of privilege and wealth that you can afford to cross the country with your horse and not financially suffer. But I'm glad for her and her horse who get to enjoy life.
The story did make me smile and chuckle her and there. And I truly sympathize with the author and her friendship with horses is great. I even seeth at the fact that the vet who was supposed to care for horses treated her horse with such nonchalance when the horse was in such a dire situation and needs of immediate help.
That said, I can't explain why I took too long to finish listening to this book because the author has a soothing voice, and when she speaks it's as if she talking to you like a friend, she's also good at telling her story. Maybe that's where problem is. Most of the story is telling. I love memoirs that read like fiction, what I mean is that I like to see the details rather than be told, but this book didn't do that.
Also, the title isn't joking. It's a story of a horse girl.
The entirety of the book is mostly about the horse, not her. She sprinkled a little about her life here and there, but everything is about her with the horse. I feel like by the time the story ended I still don't know anything about the author as a person other than she is a horse-loving girl.
Sometimes, it almost feels as if she loves the horses more than her life, and it gets a bit too heavy for me, that's why I take a frequent break after 50% of the story.
Overall, it was not a terrible read, and I think a true enthusiastic horse owner or pierce lover of horses would be able to appreciate this book more than I did. With that said, I wouldn't discourage anyone from giving this book a chance.
Thank you to the author for giving me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review....more
