This was one ridiculous moment after the other and for the life of me I couldn't stop reading. It might be the consequence of being in bed with a neck strain that has possibly affected my capacity for discernment. Silly, fluffy, fun and a bit festive. You can read it fast, enjoy the kinky moments, the profusion of jockstraps, and the sass from a 12yo and be done with it....more

Against the Hallmark-y sweetness of Christmas romances, we get this kind of difunctional love story (at least at first) about a traumatised young man and the hired killer bent on making him his. Revenge plots are a favourite of mine and this one was sweet. Saint is obsessed and I love him for being so honest with his feelings. Rowan is a bit broken and a lot distrustful, but he so wants to be loooved. The cookie scene made me cry a little, but these two are perrrrfect together. Great read....more

Soft, low on angst, a little fluffy, not super amazing but good enough. For two people who were supposed to hate eachother, they sure were nice to the other one... I am not proud to admit the amount of sobbing that happened while reading this book. And not just because of the love story but because of the heart-aI am not proud to admit the amount of sobbing that happened while reading this book. And not just because of the love story but because of the heart-aching beauty of the writing. It's my first book by the author and I have become a fan.
One of my little reading obsessions is magical realism. I know many people dislike it, but for me it's a mirror image of my inner world, and I felt so much of myself in this story.
Alex has lost his life in NYC and has to go back to his home town where he transforms his parents café into a bakery. There, he meets Corbin, the town "weirdo". There's a pull between them, and Alex is willing to welcome Corbin into his bakery and his life. But Corbin is afraid to get close because of his family's curse, that involves the death of their loved ones.
This read like a mix between Practical Magic and Como Agua para Chocolate. As a fellow "weirdo", I instantly fell for Corbin. He had been so alone he almost didn't know what being cared for felt like. And when I say alone, I mean a loneliness so deep it hurt. For me, he read like a neurospicy person and I was rooting so hard for him. Alex is as solid and as lovely as they come. He loves Corbin unconditionally, and it is so beautiful to read.
We all want this, don't we? That even with all our dark corners, and fears, and strangeness, we will find someone that will love us no matter what.
If there were more than 5 stars on GR, I would give them....more

Music is one of my other passions, so I couldn't help myself. Hail and Z broke my heart and stitched it back together in every interaction. Sunshine-y Hail has the golden retriever energy we all love and I felt close to him in that way where he feels he needs to do everything to get people to love him, but he believes it might never be enough. Z, my man, was b-r-o-k-e-n, shattered by super painful events in his life. I know trauma and addiction first hand and I felt his struggles to my very own darkened heart. The guilt, the shame, the want to be loved but the terrible sense of being unworthy. My man struggled so much with his mental health. Their relationship was painful and healing at the same time. I took one star off the rating because at the beginning, their relationship was a bit too fast for me. But considering who they are inside, it totally makes sense plot wise. Still, I missed more development at times. The angsty moments though made up for it. I also missed a bit more of them at the end. I'm a sucker for happy smexy epilogues. They deserve all the happiness they can get....more

After reading Garron Park and Lot 62, I was impatiently waiting for Xavi and Nate story. They deserved a perfect friends-to-lovers storyline and Nordika Night delivered it in spades. We had enough angst and fights and pain with their brothers, we needed laughter, and fun and cluelessness. Their kink list done wrong was hilarious. Their support of eachother was to die for. Their pursue of their dreams after living in survival mode for so long made me feel seen. I love them and I am sooo glad they get their HEA....more

Love this romance. I love romances when even fiction reads like real life but heightened. And this book was exactly that: it is sweet and cosy and lively, but the issues it addresses are very very real and painful. It features a trope a bit overused in romance -fake relationship- but here it is not the main issue between the characters, which is what usually makes me dislike it. We see their raw emotions concerning their own worth and their fears. Sheldon is femme goodness and I love him. It's so refreshing to find a queer man not written as almost a caricature, but as a human being with his shining rainbow personality mixed with his soft tender dark corners where his understandable insecurities live. Theo is a grump but not mean or an A-hole, and his realness is perfection. I'm a suckered for when one of the MC loathes liking the other MC. It gets me everytime. He also struggles with the consequences of war and loss, which make him closed off but he is truly a sweetheart. They both deserve acceptance and gentle love. Can we all take a moment to appreciate all the Drag Race references?...more
