i am loving this series!! this one wasnt as good in my opinion as the first book because i don’t like scarlet as much as a main character but i still enjoyed this!!

i love the twists on the original fairytale and the characters are all so rich and even though it was a bit predictable at times *cough* lost lunar princess *cough* i still had the time of my life ✨

i think i just wanted this to be MMU and it wasn’t which isn’t it’s fault at all but i also think it just wasn’t the most historically accurate book ever?
but i liked the victorian setting and the mystery and the romances were cute ☺️ i will be continuing the series when i can get to it !!

this book was incredible. i was hoping for a fun, lighthearted, espionage book and this did not disappoint. i enjoyed our main character and her friends (yes, even maisie) and loved learning about her school for spies.
the balance of school, espionage, and boys was perfect in my opinion. also, the romance was super cute, even though the ending with josh was INFURIATING!! also, joe solomon is my new fictional husband. i’m swooning ...more

i always love WWII historical fiction and this was such an interesting concept based on facts and i loved the characters. this was so sad and empowering at the same time and i love the idea of young women being spies during the holocaust ☁️

so, i picked up this book because i wanted a good, cozy mystery with kid detectives after I read the murder most unladylike series. this book was not at all like the murder most unladylike series. let me explain:
this book is less of a detective mystery novel and more of a game reminiscent of the mysterious benedict society books, which i love as well.
milo and meddy, in order to observe the guests at their hotel, begin playing a role play game that milo’s dad used to enjoy. they take on personas and build their characters; playing pretend is how they solve the mystery. as they use their newly thought up “powers” to find clues and search for objects, the kids begin to piece things together.
now, this books mystery element is not a murder or a thievery that needs solving. it is simply two kids who are curious about the items and stories of their guests. so the mystery really didn’t drive the plot for me. don’t get me wrong, the novel was still mysterious and i enjoyed solving things along with milo.
while i enjoyed it, it wasn’t the fast-paced clue game i expected. however, one of my favorite parts about this book was the cozy hotel setting and the diverse characters we see in it. the backstories and truths the children find out about their fellow hotel stayers were phenomenal in my opinion. including the very well-done, not-at-all cliche love triangle millford included!
also, the smuggler subplot and the history of doc holystone that tied in really made the book for me. i enjoyed learning about milo’s chinese history and the subtle focus on adoption was wonderful to read about.
anyway, overall, while this book could have been better, it was still a fun read just not quite the mystery i personally was looking for. If you don’t mind the role playing and this one other element which i’m going to mention in a moment, i think you will really enjoy this book ...more

i’d like to start this review off by saying i am a huge fan of hercules (the disney movie, of course). i became obsessed with it when i was young and it has been a part of my life ever since.
so, as you can probably imagine, i was overjoyed when i saw this book (there’re never any hercules retellings!) as you can also imagine, because of that, it was incredibly important to me that this was an accurate representation and continuation of the characters and story i love.
fortunately for me, this book did not disappoint! in fact, it did justice to the classic story, and that’s coming from me, the super fan!
let’s start with megara, my all time favorite character. jen calonita did an incredible job portraying and preserving her classic character while also adding backstory to explain her character in hercules and also giving her character development in this new book (the background with her mom and the elaboration on her ex-boyfriend was beyond phenomenal). i so enjoyed meg and hercules’s relationship and how it progressed.
hades was just as sassy, sarcastic, and car-salesman as ever. this story picked up right where the movie left off and included a lot of accurate greek mythology as well. everything was so in-character, it just felt like one continuation of the movie.
jen’s ability to match the feel of the movie we love and also add her own touch to it is unbelievable. i cannot recommend this book enough to hercules fans—you won’t be disappointed!

anyway, this book was a blast! i enjoyed having all of the 4 girls’ povs in this book and the concept of the girl games was a fun one. this was another cute read and i’m excited to reread more of the series.

the concept of orpheus totally reminded me of me as a young fangirl and i was here. for. it. the plot of this was cute and sweet and it read very quick as they all do.
the mythology was thick in this one as well, which i enjoyed. again, highly recommend for younger and older fans of greek mythology alike.

the story this book tells was an interesting one and i seriously enjoyed the plot + the mythology. the romance was cute and so was this book. highly recommend this series if you like greek mythology and are looking for an adorable, quick, younger read.

anyway, this book was just as cute as the rest of them and i enjoyed it a lot! i enjoyed the 12 labors plot and heracles * athena’s relationship. athena isn’t my favorite main character, but i still like her a lot.
i’d highly recommend this to greek mythology-enthusiasts who don’t mind a young, simple read!

aphrodite isn’t my favorite pov, as i’ve said before, but i still appreciate her and her drama. the plot was fast-paced even though this is one of the longer books and i enjoyed that. also, always love some aphrodite and ares Drama™.

i know this is the second time i’ve read these books (third time for the first two) so it may just be nostalgia that’s making me love these books but i do think they’re very sweet, simple, fun books for young readers (that older readers can enjoy too)!!
they have also prompted me to look up the greek mythology and compare the differences from it to the books and i’m impressed with what these authors have done with it. overall a great read!

aphrodite isn’t my favorite character, but as a younger kid this was always my favorite because of the love triangle + romantic focus + makeover theme we get in this one and so nostalgia is making me love this one.
this one definitely feels a bit older than the other two, but still aimed a young readers. overall, i had a blast with this book and i’d highly recommend!
