There aren't any strong points that could be highlighted and thus be leveraged against to give a higher rating, nor are there any memorable characters.
The book felt like reading the diary of a woman who was jotting down her chores, except that the chores were being a detective. The cases do not require the usage of 'grey cells' for solving the crimes, instead it needed some ground work and stalking. Maybe the rest of the books in the series are better but I will not be going ahead in this Botswanic adventure.

The book paints a grey picture of the lives of the people living under a totalitarian dictatorship and depicts how it is to live without any individual will, determination or imagination.
While the dystopian concept and themes of government surveillance and control are intriguing, the narration fell flat for me. The writing style was dry and lacked depth, making it difficult to become fully invested in the story. It felt to me as if I am reading an essay by Orwell and not an actual novel. The lengthy paragraph narration is the main culprit in making the read an ordeal.
I wanted to give the book 1 star with a 0.5 rating but I am going to give this one a 1.5/5 rating just because the ending line was not a cliche....more
