first off, why is “enemies to lovers” in the title? this really wasn’t that imo.
starting off with this book I immediately noticed the writing, it wasfirst off, why is “enemies to lovers” in the title? this really wasn’t that imo.
starting off with this book I immediately noticed the writing, it was overall very repetitive. I think the same phrase was repeated like five times in one singular paragraph. another thing I noticed was the abrupt pov switches that would occur mid scene which just confused me. not off to a great start.
after that is when the main characters meet! they are in the same room, find out they are mates, and the fmc immediately starts thinking about their future together and just sounds quite desperate (mind you, they are complete strangers, they’ve never even spoken before, maybe a mere shared glance at most) while the mmc doesn’t want her, which is understandable as he has a lover. when his lover kisses him, the fmc has a breakdown and runs off.
she asks the mmc why he is with his lover… yeah. this just made no sense to me and I found it quite embarrassing for her, I’m pretty sure she knew he had a lover. anyways the mmc rejects her! this is all happening in one chapter, not looking great so far.
after rejecting her, he makes out with her! yeah you read that right. she gets her hopes up and then he rejects her again.
omg I completely forgot to mention something so I’m adding it here really quick: the fmc wants to change herself so that the mmc will like her which made me so mad because he is not worth it!
you can probably guess how the rest of the book went but here are some more things that irked me:
the mmc has made it very clear he does not want her right? yet he wants to control what she’s wearing and who she’s seeing. yeah.
here’s a quote: “Your ‘assistance’ is best appreciated in the kitchen. Leave the room, woman.”
???
since a rejected bond could lead to death, the fmc is getting weaker and she needs to find someone else to live, so she does! the mmc calls her a whore, here are more quotes:
“What you are doing is disgusting, disgraceful, in poor taste, and demeaning even for you.” “What the hell is that supposed to mean?” “I won’t have any more crass behavior with my men. Do you understand?” “Or else what?” “Or else I’ll toss you into the gutter from whence you crawled with only those rags on your back.”
then proceeds to tell her not to cry. yeah…what the fuck.
oh guess what! he wants her now! here’s what he had to say:
“It is me you get and you’d best prepare yourself to accept that for the rest of your miserable fucking life.”
“I am leaving my kingdom, my home, my position and everything I have ever fucking known to be with you, you ungrateful wench!”
the villain of this story ended up being nicer to the fmc than any other male characters to be honest, like?
overall, the characters fell flat, the story fell flat, and I did not enjoy this at all. this book wasn’t for me and these are all my opinions. I have seen other readers enjoy this book based on reviews so maybe this book is for you! sadly I can’t say the same.

this book was so much better than the first one in my opinion! I was honestly really engaged in the story and got answers to all my unanswered questions from book one. there was a lot of action that kept me turning the page and the plot was more existent in this one! I still couldn’t get past the cringe writing/dialogue though, so 3 stars it is!
I came to tolerate the fmc in this book and she definitely annoyed me less! I also adore her friendship with sybil so much!!!

I absolutely hated the mmc in the first book but he did redeem himself a bit in this one and I started to like him slightly more! I am also loving their relationship so far they definitely have their cute moments!!
after the plot twist towards the end and the last chapter, I can definitely say I’ll be reading the next book! I’m excited to see how this plays out…

Okay so this one is apparently the slowest or worst one in the series but oh my gosh I loved it so so much! This might be because of my memory of the first book but, I think I enjoyed this one just a tad bit more…! I think this was the perfect sequel and captured everything amazingly after what happened in the first book! The pacing was exactly how I pictured it being given what went down and I loved the plot! I will admit it was a bit slow at first and Victorias writing takes me a bit to get used to at first but after around 50 pages I was hooked and could not put my kindle down! Victoria kept saying anyone could betray anyone every other page and I still turned a blind eye to it and was shocked anytime a betrayal happened as if she didn’t warn me a million times!! I will be taking a break from this series for now because what the actual hell?! This was angst after angst after angst!

Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes when done right, and this one was… okay! I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would have mainly because I wasn’t really engaged in the story. It started off great but I felt like over the span of 300ish, pages nothing really happened at all and I just wasn’t hooked…

THIS WAS SO GOOD?! I literally read this in a DAY which says a lot because I’m such a slow reader but I could not put this one down!! Usually when I read thrillers I can guess the mystery before the reveal but I really had no clue in this one!
The way this book was written is so unique, told from 3 different povs in 3 different places that all tie in together in the mystery; I had no idea how one of these fit into the puzzle but the plot twist (MY JAW DROPPED) made everything make sense and tie together!! It was such a quick thriller read, the chapters were really short and each one ended in a small cliffhanger that then switches to a different pov the next chapter which added so much to the suspense and had me HOOKED! The characters were fun to read about!! I really couldn’t dislike them because even with their flaws, all did things for the people they loved. If you like a quick and faced paced thriller full of suspense and twists, this one is for you!!!

I’d like to start off by saying that this wasn’t a bad book per say, I just didn’t enjoy it and think it wasn’t for me.
what I did like about this book was the fae world, I think the author did a great job in terms of description and imagery! it was a very quick and fast read which I’m happy about.
this book is said to be NA but it honestly felt and read as a young adult book with added spice to make it NA and I think this would’ve been so much better had it been written as a young adult book from the beginning.
my main problem with this book was the main character. she was 21? 22? I don’t even remember but this girl acted like a 12 year old throughout the whole book. she was so immature and the things she said and did just gave me the ick. the whole chapter of her fantasizing about the mmc at the VERY beginning of the book where they barely knew each other and the mature things that were written during it made me extremely uncomfortable as this girl acted like a child the whole time and I felt it was very unnecessary.
the mmc wasn’t bad I guess… nothing stood out to me.
their relationship also felt like instalove; they met and there was a few months time skip and by that time it was said they were closer and spent a lot of time together. as the reader it was as fast as quite literally turning the page which is why it felt like instalove, I would’ve loved to see more of those in between moments and I think it would’ve added a lot more to their relationship. the spice between them made me uncomfortable, there’s an age gap, both of them are on different maturity levels and I have no idea how I read through this.
the ending was rushed big time, there was so much left unanswered and things that were just swept under the rug, had the conflict at the end been more of the main focus of the book I think it would’ve been more engaging. ...more

keeper of scarlet petals is a fast paced romantasy read that had me hooked from the start. I enjoyed this story, the characters were really likeable and their banter was fun to read about! the magic was pretty cool too even though it confused me a bit at times and the action and assassins had me turning the pages to find out what happened next! I will admit I was suspecting the wrong person the whole time and the reveal made sense even though I convinced myself it was someone else haha and the plot twist at the end got me I didn’t expect it. overall a very enjoyable and faced paced fantasy book!
