I was very surprised by this book. I don't often read books about married couples, or broken marriages but this one was addictive. I loved how Dakota I was very surprised by this book. Finally, the FMC is in the wrong, and how she did it, why she did it... I enjoyed it. Maybe she could've told Sam her reasoning behind the lies, but not all people have the guts to do it and maybe this is part of Dakota's flaw. Fear, and trust is a theme and I liked it as it was within their relationship/marriage. No one is perfect and for once, it's the female character and the male character being the one that was so hurt he became a hardheaded, emotionally scarred man. No surprise there. Why would a story that needs to reel in an audience make the guy weak - readers like hot and cold. Four stars from me. I write characters who are hot and cold with each other and I love it. Sam and Dakota are good, if anything I would have had it more tension between them. The only reason it's not five stars is because I would have liked it to have ended as is. Was a bit disheartened to find out there would be more trust issues after. Maybe because I was in a mood for a simple standalone with a HEA right now. ...more

Of course, being with one another was their safe haven. The cliffhanger piqued my curiosity, and I bought the second book as soon as the book ended. This book was on my mind for days after I finished it, and that's always a very good sign....more
