This reads like a western, a family drama western. It is beautiful and stark.
Lin Enger's brother Leif wrote one of my all-time favorite books, Peace Like A River. Boy do these brothers have a gift for storytelling. While I didn't love this book quite as much as Peace Like A River, I was equally stirred by this tale; the themes it explored were complex and gripping. This is a book to sit with and ponder. ...more
