I wasn't sure what to expect since I was not familiar with it prior to the author contacting me asking if I wanted to read and review it. First off... look at that cover! SERIOUSLY!! It has to be one of the best covers I have seen in a long time. Although "packaging" doesn't change the inside product -- it definitely makes an impact -- and the cover of H20 made me WANT to read the book.
My rating is probably around 3.5-3.75 stars. There were a few things that didn't sit well with me, but overall I really enjoyed reading H20. The plot is very original and the visual imagery is amazing. I was very impressed with how well the authors made Kate's "visions" come to life. I felt like I was right there seeing and feeling everything she was... and let me tell you her visions are not run of the mill. They are intense, somewhat bizarre, and emotionally draining. It takes true writing talent to be able to make scenes/images like this believable... and these two authors have it in spades.
What I didn't care for: Kate's personality wasn't as consistent as I would have liked. I also thought it was a bit unrealistic that she was such a strong, superstar kind of business woman yet had difficulties dealing with everyday life with it's emotions. I can understand her being emotionally challenged, but it went beyond that. Her personality traits just didn't jive for me. The differences were too extreme and since she didn't suffer from mental illness this didn't make a lot of sense to me.
There was just one other thing that I didn't make a lot of sense. Kate's personal relationship with Xavier. Holy smokes... Xavier's personality bordered on sociopathic. He seemed truly evil the majority of the time. It made absolutely no sense why ANYONE would date this man. I would run as fast as I could to get away from him! I thought for a while that maybe Kate had a distorted view of him and therefore we were only seeing him through her eyes, but that wasn't the case since her co-worker made similar conclusions and remarks about him. He was just too evil... it was completely over the top and I think it was weakest part of the story and character development.
The plot gets 5+ stars! Character development gets 3 stars. Overall a fabulous book and I really enjoyed reading it. It isn't a genre I usually read and I was a little wary when I started reading, but I was quickly sucked into the storyline and couldn't put it down. ...more

Another great addition to the Bulletproof Series. I am still anxiously awaiting the book about "Pretty Boy." Hopefully it will be next. Even if the next book doesn't feature Pretty Boy I will most definitely read it. This series simply rocks my socks!
Ms. Novak doesn't hold back with the violence or suspense and I am loving the raw and real feel to these books. The romance is very nicely done, and it had me smiling a few times because it was so heartfelt.
I was taken off guard by the ending. Didn't see it coming the way it did. I hadn't figured out who the "bad guy" was until the end. It definitely wasn't who I thought. To be honest, I couldn't figure out who it was. Nothing seemed to add up. Ms. Novak did an excellent job of wrapping up the book and at the end everything made sense and I was left with a very satisfied feeling. ...more

This was my first book by Dr. Anthony Francis. Since the majority of urban fantasy are female I was a little reserved about reading this book. I don't mean to come across as sexist... it is just there are so few male urban fantasy writers and I figure there must be a reason for that. I am going to try to not think about who is writing the book and instead focus on the book itself. That being said I really did enjoy reading Frost Moon.
Although the beginning of the book was really slow for me and at one point I almost put it down thinking I just couldn't get into it. Thankfully it picked up and I starting enjoying it. The plot was refreshing in it's originality, and the suspense aspect was very well written. I had NO idea who the "bad guy" was until the very end.
Many times throughout the book I felt like Dr. Francis went into so much detail and the reasoning behind how the magic worked that it became tiring. I skimmed through quite a bit of the book because of this.
I love it when the title of the book actually makes sense and complements the plot of the book (although the connection isn't realized until close to the end). On top of that the cover of Frost Moon is also an accurate depiction of the contents of the book. Bravo to Dr. Francis on the cover. I love it! ...more

The Heart of a Killer was a fun and suspenseful read. It may have been lacking a bit in the mystery part... since I figured out who the bad guy was sooner than I would have liked to. The romance angle was HOT, HOT, HOT! Loved it.
I am definitely looking forward to the release of the next book in this series. I am hoping that it features Gabe. ...more

I am not usually a huge fan of historical romances, but Too Wicked to Wed may have just changed my mind. I have been so discouraged lately with wimpy and mousy leading women in the books that I have read. I was DELIGHTED with Lady Alexa Bingham! She was a breath of fresh air and never failed to entertain me and keep me reading to find out what she would do next. The lead male, Earl of Killingworth, is certainly drool worthy! I love a good bad boy... and that is exactly what he is. I was half way in love with him by the end of the book.
Not only a great history romance but also had a great deal of action and suspense. What a great combination! I will most definitely be keeping an eye on Ms. Elliott to see what she is up to in the future. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who reads this genre (or a closely related one). It really was a "Good Read." ...more
I am absolutely loving this series. Hide from Evil is the 2nd book in the series and I can't wait for the 3rd and final installment! Thes4 Solid Stars
I am absolutely loving this series. Hide from Evil is the 2nd book in the series and I can't wait for the 3rd and final installment! These books are THAT good. I read this in one sitting... couldn't put it down. Stayed up almost all night just to finish it.
The plot is one where the reader knows what is going on (for the most part), but the characters are still trying to figure it out. I kept waiting and waiting for them to figure out who the bad guy was and it didn't happen until very close to the end of the book. Loads of action and suspense. I was kept on the edge of my seat for most of the book.
The romance factor is off the charts hot! Such chemistry... I felt like drooling a few times when reading the love scenes. I wouldn't classify this as a romance... more of a mystery/thriller/suspense with some fabulous romance thrown in. Jami Alden is definitely an author to keep an eye on.
A big thank you to NetGallery. I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review. ...more

I liked Sapphire by Jeffe Kennedy and especially enjoyed the plot and the characters (Adam was super HOT!). I wasn't too fond of the author's writing style, and I am not even sure what it was exactly I didn't like. It just didn't seem to flow smoothly for me. With it being a novella/short story it essential to me that I don't have to concentrate too much on syncing with the author's writing style. Perhaps I would have not had the same problem if it had been full length novel. Regardless of this issue it was still an entertaining read with lots of hot sexy scenes.
I found it hard to believe Taylor did such a 180 from her controlling absolutely everything with such determination and coldness to being a completely different person by the end of the short story. It just wasn't believable to me. I did like the concept, it just didn't work well for me.
Sapphire was an entertaining short story that I would recommend to readers who enjoy erotica romance with a bit of BDSM.

I really enjoyed Double Shot. Christine d'Abo is a new author to me and I will definitely be keeping an eye on this series as well as other books that she writes.
Although I enjoy short stories or novellas, I do prefer a bit of a longer book. It just seems like either the book feels unfinished or rushed if it is under 30,000 words. I would prefer 50,000 words plus. Then again if you are in the mood for a fun and HOT short story then this book is perfect!
Unlike many erotica books this one actually has a very nice plot and flows smoothly without an over abundance of sex scenes. But let me tell you... the sex scenes it does have are HOT HOT HOT!! I especially liked the menage scene (it is only one scene... not an ongoing romance).
I am looking forward to the next two books that are planned in this series. ...more

I can start by saying that I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this final book in the Iron Fey Series, but I have to say I wasn't nearly as satisfied with The Iron Knight as I have been with previous books in this series. I felt let down and a bit empty when I finished it. The Iron Knight just didn't do it for me.
The positive... Ms. Kagawa has an unbelievable talent in creating a world that is so brilliantly written that it engulfs the reader. Her imagination is mind boggling. When reading these books I am there in the book with the characters. Puck was without a doubt my favorite character in this book. Without his witty commentary I would have disliked it more than I did. He brought the book alive to me. Puck is like a breath of fresh air with his humorous and outrageous antics.
The negative... I felt the plot was repetitive. Really repetitive. On Ash's journey it seemed like it was one close to death conflict after another. This went on for almost the entire book. It got tiring for me. I wanted something other than them being attacked with deathly fury time and time again. Granted each episode was unique and the imagery was unbelievable in it's descriptions.
Don't misunderstand me... I most definitely recommend this series and I believe it is one of the best Young Adult Paranormal Series I have read. I have even given the first book to my 13 year old daughter and she is as enthralled with it as I was. Please don't let my review dissuade you from reading this series. It really is a fabulously entertaining series. My review may be a bit biased since I had such high expectations. If I were to compare it to other books in this genre (by other authors) I possibly would have given it a higher rating. ...more

Lord of the Abyss is the 4th and final book in this series and is by far the best out of the four. This is no surprise to me since Nalini Singh is unbelievably talented and one of my favorite authors.
I felt that the book dragged a tiny bit in the beginning and the ending was not nearly as climactic as I was expecting. I had foreseen a huge battle scene with all four siblings and a fabulous family reunion. I was left unfulfilled. The ending did wrap the story and series up nicely... it just didn't wow me like I had expected.
I have read all four of the books in this series and love the concept of it. Each book has a different author with each book building on the book previous to it. Ms. Singh's book was the book that wrapped up the series and she did an excellent job. ...more

I couldn't decide between 3 or 4 stars, but decided it was closer to 4 stars than 3... so went with that. I have been wanting to read a book by Ms. Anderson because of her popular "Nightkeepers" series which I have been interested in reading. I can now say that I definitely enjoy Ms. Anderson's writing style and plan on starting her Nightkeepers Series in the near future.
Okay... about Lord of the Wolfyn (Royal House of Shadows, #3). I liked it... I really liked it. Not that I didn't expect to like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I started out the series from the beginning and this was the 3rd installment (and the best of the three to date).
I really enjoyed how different the "werewolves" were portrayed in Lord of the Wolfyn. It was different in a good way and I was spellbound while reading all about the wolves and their culture. It was a refreshing change of pace.
A great read and a great series. You can't go wrong with this one. ...more
