I haven’t written a book review in a minute, and I just feel compelled and honored to be able to write one for this book by Wes Watson. I don’t know wI haven’t written a book review in a minute, and I just feel compelled and honored to be able to write one for this book by Wes Watson. I don’t know where to start. I just finished it, and my copy is warped and riddled with dog-eared passages of hard-earned wisdom that resonated so much with me that I’m gonna go back and study them like a handbook on how to live my best life.
The dude did ten years in the pen, grinding and putting the work in every single day, weathering the ups and downs, to iron out his program all so he could give it to you. He made mistakes, paid his karmic debt, and now he lives for others. I’m truly convinced the guy’s some kind of living saint, but he’s so freaking humble and selfless that he’d almost certainly call me out for saying that. He’s undeniably special.
His message is powerful, and it has teeth. It reads like he speaks. It was probably dictated, and that’s fine. He’s not here to win any awards. He wants you to take action, not just read what’s on the page. There’s not a sugar-coated word in this book, and more F-bombs than you’ll probably find in all of Scorcese’s filmography, but that’s not the point. He does what he does, says what he means, and lives his message with no days off. He’s about pushing people past their own self-imposed ceilings, and showing them their true selves. He’s about pulling people up, being grateful for this awesome life we’ve all been gifted, even when it sucks. He’s about exorcising internal negativity each and everyday by earning that PMA through sheer tyranny of will and powerful self talk. He stacks wins and hands you the playbook to do the same. He says regret is your guideline, and holds you to hold yourself accountable. This isn’t some magic pill type BS program. This is a commitment to the grind. The grind toward becoming the best version of yourself. To be the person you needed in your life when you were coming up. A leader and an example. All with a full-to-brimming heart of gratitude and love. Then turning around and giving yourself to others just like he gives it to those he loves, including total strangers like me and you. Holy shit, this book is a fucking gem. Whether you’re spinning your wheels and feeling a little lost, or you just need that good old fashioned kick in the pants, go check him out. I promise you - this one hits different.
