4.5 rounded up 5 stars to an apocalyptic, dystopian , bloody, vulgar, harsh, nerve-bending, nail-biting, heart-throbbing version of Red Riding Hood! I4.5 rounded up 5 stars to an apocalyptic, dystopian , bloody, vulgar, harsh, nerve-bending, nail-biting, heart-throbbing version of Red Riding Hood! I never see this coming ! This author is more merciless and definitely wilder than Grimm Brothers and I literally devoured each pages but I’m still hungry for more!
This book is gruesome, reminds of us so many “The world is ending” and “ contagious virus” theme projects starting from Bird Box ( Just like movie version the two children accompany Red are “ he” and “she” just like Sandra Bullock call them), “28 days later”, so much better version of Shymalan’s “Happening” ( the situation of abandoned houses, stores with full of dead people), Sodenberg’s ”Contagion” and finally this is not the dystopian movie but as it is admitted on the book, the creature’s technique of ripping apart of the people’s abdomens is totally great tribute to Ridley Scott’s “Alien”!
We have a remarkable heroine like younger but definitely rougher and tougher version of Sarah Connor( mostly the second movie and ore muscled version) meets girl version of Mad Max( let’s say Maxine )!
When I was a child I have read too many Grimm Brothers’ nightmarish fairy-tales and I was also disappointed about the naivety of red riding hood ( she cannot differentiate her grandma from a wolf, come on Red! Wear glasses!) but this super version of her , Red so smart, also intelligent ( a book worm, know-it-all kinda girl like Hermione Granger), a loner, isolated one because she has hard times to trust people completely. At more parts she makes you think she is the protector of her own family. She never acts like a young girl, she’s old soul, always calculating every move, knowing how to use sharp objects, she’s born as fighter and survivor.
Amazing heroine, gripping, fast paced story-telling, nonstop action capture your attention and hook you from the beginning. You don’t want to put it down. ( I confess I let my husband feed me at the dinner when I was frantically turning the pages! At least I was having sushi ) For most parts of the book I wanted to raise my punch at the air and scream” Yessss! Atta girl!”, some parts made my stomach churned, but at the end I can hear my own evil laughs because I enjoyed it.
Only the unanswered questions about the government experiments and the cause of the contagion a little disturbed my mind. But this book is about Red’s story and her surviving fight to reach to her grandma’s house.
I love the ending! Never ending action, thrilling, captivating, shocking parts. I already added gruesome versions of Alice and Peter Pan’s stories. I need to read more from the author because I had so much fun!...more
I’ve discovered another precious gem in the sea of literature!
You know those books you want to savor slowly, absorbing each word, each sentence, as yoI’ve discovered another precious gem in the sea of literature!
You know those books you want to savor slowly, absorbing each word, each sentence, as you visualize everything in your mind? You pause to let the meanings sink in, sitting by a fireplace, sipping your cognac (yes, once again, my imagination hijacked my brain), and praying the book never ends. But this crime thriller’s writing was so unique and original that I never expected to enjoy it this much.
Think twice before stepping into the Kensington neighborhood. You claim abandoned buildings don’t scare you—fine, but what about the sex workers, addicts, and drug dealers? I’m talking about one of the most dangerous areas in Philly, notorious for its high crime rates, where the police squad fails miserably. Most of them are power-hungry, biased, and deeply entrenched in the corruption of a broken justice system.
Our heroine, Mickey Fitzpatrick, is a police officer constantly trying to do the right thing. Her sister, Kacey, has been a long-time addict, and every time Mickey finds another OD victim, she fears it could be her sister. The two have been estranged for years. As we journey through the past and present, we get a raw glimpse into their dysfunctional family and sisterhood—their bond, how it erodes, and how they end up on opposite sides of justice.
Mickey emerges as an honest, vulnerable, and tormented—yet unbroken—character, fighting relentlessly to save lives and protect her loved ones from the dangers of a harsh world. She’s determined to raise her son right, find her sister before she self-destructs, and stop the serial killer targeting women on the streets.
This story is dark, gritty, and at times unsettling, but Mickey’s character is so well-rounded, deeply developed, and layered that you can’t help but root for her. Even though it’s a lengthy crime thriller, I never felt bored. I wanted to know more about these fascinating characters and the obstacles Mickey faces, especially from her fellow officers who resist investigating the deaths of these women. The story starts a bit slow, but it captivates you early on and keeps you hooked.
It’s a remarkable, heart-wrenching, soul-stirring thriller with impeccable writing and unforgettable characters. It reminded me of the dark, Nordic crime thrillers I love so much. I highly recommend this slow-burn, well-written thriller.

IIIIIIIIII LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVEEEEEE ITTTTTTTTTTTTT SOOOOOOOOOO MUCCHHH! And I decided to name this book “Loving You” with fuchsia colored cover (of course it’s my favorite color) You want to see my version of cover. Here it is ha ha ha! [image]
COLHO!!! You’re my all-time favorite romance writer who can perfectly create both YA and adult stories and thankfully with this book, you gave us two different amazingly heart wrenching and emotional stories.
And I finally understand why you chose “ORANGE” as a cover color you queen of sarcasm! I waited too long to get this book into my hands and definitely hate all the lucky readers who are chosen to read it before me!!
It was more painful than waiting for GOT’s last season for whole 2 and 5 years (we all know how it resulted! I threw away my TV from window and cancel my HBO membership!), listening Matthew McConaughey’s Oscar speech, eating brussels sprouts for dinner ( because there is nothing in your fridge and you need to fill your stomach to consume more booze!), listening my besties’ and husband’s burping contest (yes, I have to find better friends and educate my husband with raw meat)! So yes, I celebrate the release date with too much champagne and next day, I started my reading with a heavy head (I thought some construction company rented my brain cells and start to build a skyscraper inside my brain!)
THOUGHTS: At the end of first quarter COLHO terribly punched us! (Some kind of same twist we got from the beginning of “All your perfects” but this one cut deeper to me, to entire characters of the book and my entire neighborhood because I read this book aloud to educate my environment and guess what my mother and sister in law already start wearing matching t-shirts that words printed on: -We love you COLHO- and of course they stole her books from my library but I forgave them because I changed the covers with Lord of the Rings series just teaching them some manners!)
I think I rooted more for YA romance parts because Miller and his grandfather stole my heart from the beginning. Miller and Clara’s love story started with an obstacle like “Maybe Someday” book has. But it resolved faster and we reach for the good parts, seeing their attraction and falling in love with each other.
I’m not gonna talk much about the story but I want to tell how this book made me feel: It made me cried several times, it made me pissed off, it made me excited, it made me sigh million times, it made me smile, it made me laugh, it made me scream and finally IT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL CHARACTERS AND THIS FANTASTIC BOOK!
I had a sh**ty romance year because most of my favorite romance writers released what the hell is that kind of disturbing, disappointing books. And some of them released their thriller debuts (actually they were good but I still wonder why they gave up creating emotional, tear jerker, pant melting romance stories?)
I can only say that: I loved Morgan’s strength and standing for her daughter to save her from emotional turmoil even it makes her look like an unlikable mother.
Jonah was a little doormat hero but he was still adorable, trustworthy, humble guy. I adored how he raised Elijah and how he treated with respect and caring to Morgan.
Miller ( I also love the beer brand) is my raising star and his final gesture made me want giving him 5 gazillion stars! And Clara’s smartness, toughness, maturity to face the depressing ( at some parts she pissed me off and completely lost her control which made me sad for Miles but she was still likable and better character from most of the YA characters I’ve read lately) situations earned her several brownie points which I wanted to share her but I already ate them.
OVERALL: Thanks to my staring Queen (take a look her beautiful staring photos at her instagram account) who never ever disappoint me with her talented writing and memorable!

I have to make things clear before starting to write how I feel about this book! I love Mia Sheridan’s writing! She’s one of ten best favorite romance writers of mine! I loved her old school style, I adore her horoscope series!
As soon as I got Savaged, I thought I would find a introvert, lonely, cut off from civilization but also deep layered character like Archer, or Wish Collector’s Jonah kinda tormented, tarnished hero!
As I read the blurb, I thought I would read an intense story about a man’s uncivilized life who struggles to exist against wild nature like Shay Savage’s Transcendence or Sawyer Bennett’s Uncivilized!
Maybe I compared this story with the other books and as soon as I read more about Lucas, this made me a little disappointed!
I was expecting more angst, emotional turmoils, ugly cries! But the romance parts are overshadowed by action, thriller and mystery parts of the story. At some parts I thought the hero was more attached to his wolves than Harper! And my opinion about revelation part, well, it’s not a big surprise, it’s foreseeable!
Don’t get me wrong! This is still good written book but genre changing of author a little confused me! I prepared myself to see more romantic and lyrical story instead of a survival thriller!
Well, I’d better find another one ! My tbr list is about to blast ! I think I still have luck to choose a new tear jerker one!...more

As soon as I hear, one of the greatest thriller writers is back with a new book, I started to dance and raise my punch in the air while I was screaming “Yess!”. Well, when I start flipping the pages, my punch was still raised in the air but this time , it was punching an invisible man ( actually I was imagining the writer on my head, because I was so pissed off when I see missing potentials and opportunities and this book is totally both of them)
We meet Hans Peter Schneider, a serial killer, sadistic, dangerous man but there is nothing sophisticated or intriguing about him( if you compare him with Hannibal, he’s Disney character and worst copycat, only interesting thing he shares name with Hans Gruber/ all time best villain ...more

It's torturous to wait for the normal release date. I wish I had a soul to sale for early reading chance of this book!
I was so afraid of my contact lens numbers were going to be bigger than my irises after I finished this book (Give me a biggest Chardonnay break, my dI was so afraid of my contact lens numbers were going to be bigger than my irises after I finished this book (Give me a biggest Chardonnay break, my dear friends, this month I read “Institution”, “Gold Finch” and still working on “Priory of Orange Tree” which has also 800 pages. My red eyed image is still giving creeps to neighborhood kids and their mothers which is fine with me, I can eat trick or treat candies I’ve bough to serve them and I could also steal their M&M- only the red ones, they can have the others-)
I read too many bad reviews which gave me a little hesitation at first but come on, we’re talking about “Perks of Being a Wallflower” author! And horror is one of my favorite genre ( Before I got my caffeine intake in the mornings I look like Frakenstein’s bride with my all my hair in the air and raccoon eye make-up style so I get used to love horrific things )) Of course I was all in! I said bring it on this terrifying read. At least if I got bored, I could use it as dumbbell like I did with My KING’s “Stand” book. (Don’t get me wrong I love that book but after finishing it, I was looking like Dwayne Johnson’s big sister with my humongous biceps! My husband used them as pillows to rest his head and take quick naps!)
I can feel for the readers’ disappointment or frustration because of changing of writing, story-telling method of the author and focusing on different genre. I actually confused too many times during my read and turned the cover to make sure that I was having the right writer’s book. Was I reading the right STEPHEN’s book? Was it not KING’s book, right? It is Chbosky book. I actually thought both authors were pulling a prank and at the end of the novel we could find an acknowledgment part confessing my KING pushed Chbosky away from his seat and started to touch the key pad like playing a horrific theme from Phantom of the Opera and wrote this book.
I mostly enjoy the writing even it was soooo looonnnggg and I dropped my dried contact lenses into my wine glasses and coffee mugs (of course drink choices changing daily and nightly!) and when I was multitasking like biting a scone and flipping the pages, I may have consumed some book pages as well and feeding my dogs with scone (they somersaulted and danced all day, like dogs like owners!)
But Christopher’s age is a little concerned me. At least he could be around 10- 12, maybe this age is a little old to have an imaginary friend but his age is too young to endure and fight against all those scary and haunted things he’d met. It hurt me to see him suffer too many times. (I was thinking I couldn’t see anything disturbing like Joker movie but those parts of the book really agitated me as well)
And the good and evil’s never ending fight, all those biblical references, the parts about the way of people’s atonement of their sins were too compelling subjects in this young and innocent child’s world.
I think with omitted parts ( especially the last parts of the book were too long and they kept repeat themselves) and a simpler boy and his imaginary friend’s story not about heavy biblical subjects, but a story about a boy’s loneliness and naivety to imagine wrong kind of best friend would work better for me!
But as a summary, my 3 point 5 stars eventually rounded up to 4 because I love spooky, haunted, nail biter, dark stories and I enjoyed most part of the book. It’s a thrilling, entertaining but also exhausting reading. I hope I don’t scream too much in my sleep this night (Don’t worry, this book didn’t scare me like that but my husband learned to imitate Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker laughter and as soon as I close my eyes at night, he performs very same laughter in the silence of the night like a heartless creature. So this month I decided to read more horror books because real life and vengeful husbands who were dissatisfied with my cooking performance were scarier than the books! Trust me! I learned from the hardest way!)
