Apparently I misjudged Courtney Cole's writing, because this book rocked me so hard! First of all, I am SO glad that we got to see so much love between Macy and Gavin (or is it Harmonia and Cadmus? *winks*) and it was just such a treat to watch their immortal love unfold even further. Sometimes all the romantic drama in young adult books can be painful to read, but these two lovebirds are just so constantly blissed out with each other. It's very refreshing and uplifting! I also love that we see a different mythological background in this story. As much as I love ancient Egypt, I love ancient Greece ten times more so this book was really fun to read on so many levels! In any case, this is a young adult series that should not be passed up! And let me just tell you, after reading the ending you will be DESPERATE to start reading the third book! ...more

This book was really awesome! I truly enjoyed all the characters and their interactions, it was great to watch all the different relationships unfold. Selia, especially, caught and held my interest because of her strong personality! She kicked ass time and time again and it was quite admirable! Another aspect of this book that I enjoyed was the romance between Jaden and Selia. It was great to watch their relationship grow from uncertain trust to full blossomed love during their adventures, and it was done at a realistic pace which was comfortable to read. Plus, the sexual tension between them was downright sizzling! If you enjoy fast-paced fantasy novels with lots of romance, you will certainly enjoy this book as much as I did!...more

It was just so beautiful and sensual and filled with wonderful imagery. I would really reccommend this book (actually this whole series) to anyone who loves paranormal romance stories with lots of action!...more

They had so many sweet moments together (not to mention all the steamy ones that made me swoon). Angels are also introduced in this vaampire mythology which I found very fascinating. Also, there were so many mysterious things going on that I just couldn't put this story down. Who exactly is Sebastian? Why did Savannah see her mom and Devon? Is Bo really the boy who cannot be killed? This book is great, and if you enjoyed the first book then you are going to fall head over heels for this one. ...more

Okay, sorry...I'm calmer now. :) But seriously folks, this is definately one of my favorite young adult books that I've read this year. It starts out present day with Macey, a seventeen year old girl dealing with a lying, cheating boyfriend and then BAM we're transported back to Egypt in the time right before it was invaded by Rome. I've always been fascinated with Egypt and Cleopatra, and this book provided such lush descriptions and hauntingly beautiful dialogue that it made my heart sing! Past lives, reincarnation, and soul mates are themes throughout this book that are just so exceptionally played out that you will wonder where this author has been your whole life! Courtney Cole is just an outstanding author and I can't wait to see what she writes next! But I have to say that my favorite part of this book was the ending. I won't give away any spoilers but let me just say that I feel like a lot of young adult books end leaving me with a feeling of...well...hanging on the edge. Alot of books are trilogies or series and the books seem to end with a cliffhanger that makes you want to die while you wait a year or six months or whatever until the next one comes out. This book, although obviously being the first one in a series, had probably the best and most emotionally satisfying conclusion ever. It left me in happy tears and I carried that floaty-happy feeling around with me all day! I would reccomend this book to anyone because it is definately amazing!...more

There has been a lot of hype and anticipation of this new series and I feel that it definately lived up to all of that! It was great to be back in a familiar setting in a world that is as beloved as this one. It was also great to see some of the supporting characters from the Vampire Academy series (Sydney, Jill, Adrian, and Eddie) get the starring role in this series. The plot was excellent, with lots of twists and turns that I never expected, and the ending left so many questions unanswered that I am now eagerly awaiting the next installment! At first Callie adores the small town, with its deep forests, friendly neighbors, and bright students. But there is more here than meets the eye. The town is actually a sanctuary for many strange people: Faeries, vampires, spirit familiars, and more. After buying the old Victorian 'Honeysuckle House' Callie begins having strage dreams. Erotic dreams. A shadow lover comes to her each night, fulfilling her every desire. The townspeople call him an incubus, a night demon who steals the energy of its victim until they are drained to the death. But despite this, Callie's incubus seems to actually have feelings for her. SO when the townspeople urge her to banish her demon, she has to come to terms with the fact that she may not want him to leave.
This book really rocked my world. It was very unique and refreshing to read about an incubus instead of the usual vampire (not that I don't adore vamps too :D ). Fairwick is a truly beautiful town. The authors writing was so descriptive about its beauty and small-town charm that I really felt as if I wanted to move there myself! I also REALLY felt myself falling for the incubus, despite his being a demon. He was a wonderful, mysterious, captivating character. The story, while containing some AWESOME sex scenes, also had so many twists and turns that kept me fully interested until the very end! In regard to the ending, there is alot of room for the characters and story to continue, so I really hope that the author writes more! This was a fantastic story!...more

I knew I would like this book because I adore stories focusing on Greek mythology, but I honestly didn't expect to like it as much as I did! I was really cheering for Phoebe the whole time, as she learned to find her place in her new home.
