This was sizzling hot, yet unexpected ...wholesome? The best mmm romance for me so far. It took me a bit to get into the story, and to get a feel for the three MCs, because Julien and Priest weren't really distinguishable to me at the beginning. As soon as I could tell them, their characters, their thoughts apart I was all in though. I loved to see Robbie get over his doubts and really believe that he was the one with all the power, because Julien and Priest had watched and wanted him for a while. Hopping directly to the next installment (I'm so glad I'm on vacation and tomorrow it's going to rain the whole day, I'll get so much reading done..).

After loving Until You my hopes for And Then You were very high, and I was happy I was not disappointed, at all. Obviously the third book in the series couldn't be another winner, right? Ohhh but I'm so happy IT WAS. I loved Wren and Sutton just as I had loved Quinn and Stephen and before them, Jude and Blake. The plot was engaging, the relationship development awesome, the character development believable and subtle.
At one point in the story I found the storyline a bit constructed (the elbow-incident) and how Sutton dealt with it felt a bit out of proportion to me but I got his panic and fears and his consequent inability to think rationally.
This is again a lovely romance full of longing, past hurt, resilience, finally love, and a slowly growing, undeniably strong emotional connection (plus, yeah, there's awesome sex, too).
I loved the epilogue.. it's beautiful to see where a couple is many years after the last chapter.
Ps via the author's newsletter we get an additional chapter where we meet Quinn and Stephen, Jude and Blake again....more

At times heartbreaking, at times tender. Beautiful plot and execution, realistic feeling characters. Flawless character development and relationship development. I hurt with both Joe and Casey, their hea was well earned and heart warming. It definitely wasn't smooth sailing to get there, so I appreciated that there was a big portion of the story dedicated to their time as a couple, navigating these new dynamics.
I loved that the book opened with a chapter "now", with two middle aged men (Casey in his thirties and Joe in his mid forties) taking in a lost and frightened teenager, offering him a safe place... and the whole book after that chapter showed how they had gotten to that point.
The age gap (and related issues) were handled by the author with care and impressive dedication.
Be aware that for part of the book Casey and Joe have other partners. Usually I hate that, but in this case it was necessary to let me believe that Joe's love for Casey changed with time (over 6 years, from Casey at age 16 coming into Joe's life, to Casey being a 22 year old man).
Although there were a few things that felt unbelievable to me (that first social worker? so many homeless teenagers?) I'll concede that they might be realistic/possible in the US, as awful as it is.
This is not a light and fluffy read, but it's full of love and hope.

I'm totally digging (as Scott would say) their writing. How they showed Scott (it's his pov) pining and longing, then carefully getting closer with Cole, and finally finding acceptance and love for his true self was beautiful to read. I adored Scott so, so much. I wanted to shake him to stand up for himself. I loved Cole, too, once I saw him clearer, and felt his frustration with the situation he found himself in.
Again, as in other novels by this author, this needs better editing. There are more than a few words missing in the e-book version. No grammar errors, though. I enjoyed every minute of the story so much, the lack of editing didn't dampen my enjoyment at all, though....more

The cover might be one of the most ugly covers I have ever seen, but the story was awesome. Mattin was oblivious for a long time, not seeing that Arden (the king) and Mil (the king's husband) were courting him, following all the steps he had told they would need to follow when they were looking for someone to join them in their marriage. Both Mil and Arden were afraid to show their affection for Mattin too bluntly and tried to hold back, while Mattin took a while to figure out that he was in love with Arden and Mil.
I loved the storyline, the relationship development and the one (so very satisfying and delicious) sex scene.
It took me a bit to get into the writing style, but I guess that's a me-thing with novels set in a medieval fantasy world.
This book is perfect for everyone who loves K. L. Noone (the relationship development is much slower than with K. L. Noone, and I loved that, too!)...more

The book needs better editing, there are syntax errors, sometimes a word is written twice, and I felt there were a few strange word choices.
BUT I was able to overlook all that, because the story was so endearing. Jerry's big heart, his insecurities coupled with his longing for more than friendship with Lincoln, Lincoln's patience and steady and calm presence, Jerry's niece and sister silently rooting for Jerry and nudging him in the direction he wasn't sure was even a possibility for him, were all woven together in a touching novella.
I would have loved more time with Jerry and Lincoln after they got together..

Both characters are multilayered, it was fascinating to see more and more of their personalities. Who else I loved: Their teammates (Poiro!!). Olly's brothers. Their coach. Benji's former billet family. And no, Olly's dad is not on this list, I hated him. I hate parents who pressure (=mistreat) their children because they want them to reach their full potential. It makes me sick. I didn't particularly like Benji's sister, but I appreciated how the author decided to flesh out her character, never OTT but in a realistic way. I felt sorry for her.
The storyline was awesome, I felt every step of the way with Olly and Benji. I'm already happy that I'm going to reread this some time in the not so distant future. It took me long to get into the story because of the abrupt writing style, but the longer I read, the more it felt completely in sync with the MCs's thoughts. I loved that therapy was central to the plot, I appreciated how Benji felt about mental health being part of an athlete's concern as well as physical training and healthy nutrition (and I appreciated that parts of a vegan diet were mentioned and not ridiculed like many authors do). It was lovely to see how Olly slowly took Benji's advise and got stronger and healthier. I loved how much they were there for each other, and how fierce their teammates' support was, on the ice as well as off the ice, when dealing with Benji's brother in law or Olly's dad for example.
Last note - mild SPOILERS ahead: I had read in the comments of lila's review (btw thanks lila for reminding me of this book!) what was going to happen around the 50% mark and was on one hand grateful for the heads up but still apprehensive how I'd feel about a threesome between the MCs and a random woman, before the MCs got together. But I was surprised and so glad that the author wrote it the way she did. It was a short scene, they were drunk, and thankfully it didn't trigger spontaneous "he's mine" reactions....more

Beautiful sequel full of magic and love. Colin the kitten shape shifter lives with David the mage, but David fears it's mostly because of gratitude and that Colin isn't happy.. The fire scene was written in such a compelling way I (nearly) felt the magic happen! Awesome writing as in every book by this author. So obviously there have to be quotes..
"I could have hurt you. I did hurt you.” “Yes.” Colin’s eyes narrowed. Cat-vivid, spell-silver, maybe more serious than David had ever seen. Colin Rue liked pouncing on him and got excited over whipped cream and laser-beam star-shows. This burned truer than stars. More certain. “You did hurt me. But I knew it would hurt.” “You—” “I chose that. To protect you. To help you protect other people. I made that choice. Because I can, not because you bound me or compelled me. You’re not the person who took my choices away, and don’t say you are, because then you’re saying I can’t make my own choices now. I do. I am. I’d do it again. And you’d do it, too, so don’t even try saying you wouldn’t.”
And they talk about magical books.. "Emotional infusions, I was thinking, too. Enhanced connection. Like a hug. From a book."...more

A kitten shape shifter, Colin, escapes during a rain storm from the warlord who'd kept him locked up for the last 8 months, and finds a safe place with the gentle and kind mage David. I rarely read insta love but I don't mind it when it's written by K. L. Noone.
"The ground was hard and the puddle was deep. A truck pulled in while he watched, and men grumbled about the rain. Sorry, Colin told them silently. My fault. Sort of. You sleep with a warlock one time, he turns out to be a megalomaniac who sticks you in an enchanted compulsion collar, you run away, and, hey, thunderstorms. He even liked rain, or he had before. He liked rain the way that cats liked rain: indoors, with a fire and a soft blanket and someone’s lap to sit on. If he were human at the time, that might even lead to more than simply sitting, under the drumming vibrant heartbeat of drops."...more

I was lucky it rained a lot this weekend and I had next to no plans so I could read and read and read.
I loved the storyline. I loved the main characters, Katrina and Nathan, two authors who had written two books together, and when the second one became a bestseller, never spoke to each other again. Now after 4 years of distance they have to work together on a new book because of their contractual obligations. Katrina is engaged and Nathan divorced, and both want to get the writing process over with, in the fastest way possible.
The authors slowly showed us their personalities, their repressed feelings, their resentments about their shared past, and revealed in strategically placed flashbacks more and more of what had happened 4 years ago, while steadily letting them go forward in the present.
I loved the heartbreak, the connection between them. I hated Katrina's fiance from the moment he opened his mouth (hated him with a passion, it was awesome).

I'm so happy I still loved this rereading it the first time after 8 years! This was one of my earliest MM novels, back when I started reading English romances. My reading tastes have changed a lot since then (and I hope my English - knowledge as well), but I enjoyed Rik and Graham's story still so, so much.
I loved how both characters were shown in a detailled and believable way. It was very realistic how Graham felt guilty over what had happened, and how for so long he was full of fear of being seen as queer, and only at snails pace let go of that fear. Rik was an interesting character, too. His personality was very different from Graham's, and it was heartbreaking to see how lonely he was, and how hard he tried not to care too much. I loved how they so very slowly built a connection and fell in love.
Their friend Bella was an awesome side character. I loved that she used to have sex with as many guys as she wanted and wasn't slut-shamed (as happens too often in romances).
I've read 34 books by Sarina Bowen now, but for me this earlier series is her best work (the series is mostly MF, though), and The Understatement Of The Year is still my favorite MM romance by her (I know, I know, everyone loves Him and Us more.. exept me).
