The fantasy elements ranged from a medieval caste system and knights tournaments, to people having long tails expressing their emotions and colored, pointy ears, to intimacy with lots of fucking, knotting, breeding, and (rarely) mating . The fantasy world was interesting, the best part of the story (as usual with this author) was the relationship development, though. The story is told in single pov (Fox), third person, past tense.
Through Fox's narration and feelings we slowly (achingly slowly) get to see the predicament Fox is in. He's not wanted anymore as lover by king Domvoda, but is nevertheless still expected to pay court to the king and to watch closely how the king selects a future consort at the festivities surrounding the knights tournament. Knight Conall is the first person to show Fox kindness in years, and Fox is overwhelmed, by Domvoda's cruel treatment, by Conall's steady and reassuring friendship (expressed partly through mutual fucking), and by his own insecurities and fears of the future.
A extraordinary storyline, compelling writing, with lots and lots of reassurances of feelings towards the end....more

That is, if you have no issues with: -the love interest (Mascha) getting kissed by several people in Owin and Mascha's friend group on Ara, the one night a year, when everybody in the village (who wears some kind of blue on their lips as invitation) can find kisses or more (if they wear other blue accessoires). -Owin's past sexual liasons within the friend group being discussed by said friend group. -Owin going off with someone who is Mascha... but (thankfully) he doesn't follow through and stays with Mascha instead, to bring him home safely.
Usually I would have a hard time enjoying a novella with these plot developments, but the author's writing skills are so good, that I (mostly) didn't mind and had a lovely time reading about Owin and Mascha getting closer....more

Bear was the most wonderful alpha MC imaginable. He was protective and fierce, loving and caring, and always, always looking out for what was in Silas's best interest. What I loved most were the hurt/comfort-theme and the consent-theme, both closely tied to Bear's character.
The new cover feels too light in my opinion and doesn't mirror the book's content. I liked the earlier version much more. Be aware of the trigger warnings. This has also some fighting and killing (I did not enjoy that part very much), and contrary to many reviews it didn't feel very slow-burn-y (I know that's not a word, sorry not sorry) to me, I could have had the MCs longing/pining for much longer, but my tolerance for slow burn is high. There was plenty of sex (in the second half of the book) but it didn’t feel too much.
Overall a great omegaverse romance (without shifters, without mpreg on page).
Thanks to my friend Elizabeth for putting this in my line of sight!...more

Lovely, at the beginning quite puzzling, novella. I felt thrown in the middle of a fantasy world and in the middle of a already ongoing relationship development... that was a rather interesting angle to write a story. I prefer to also watch the MCs getting to know each other, though, not just develop their already existing relationship (even if that relationship wasn't fully balanced at the start of the book).
But. The skilled writing made me enjoy this novella even if the premise shouldn't work for me.

The cover might be one of the most ugly covers I have ever seen, but the story was awesome. Mattin was oblivious for a long time, not seeing that Arden (the king) and Mil (the king's husband) were courting him, following all the steps he had told they would need to follow when they were looking for someone to join them in their marriage. Both Mil and Arden were afraid to show their affection for Mattin too bluntly and tried to hold back, while Mattin took a while to figure out that he was in love with Arden and Mil.
I loved the storyline, the relationship development and the one (so very satisfying and delicious) sex scene.
It took me a bit to get into the writing style, but I guess that's a me-thing with novels set in a medieval fantasy world.

This book had insta lust and near insta love, both not my favorites. And all the demon- sex didn't really balance the bland and a bit boring storyline out. Noone's short stories are AWESOME, and this one was no exception. A lovely romance full of heart, beautifully written. I love so much that one of the MCs is demisexual. Both characters are multilayered, it was fascinating to see more and more of their personalities. I tried to keep my expectations pretty low before reading Brothersong, because I had absolutely LOVED Heartsong, but didn't enjoy the lack of relationship development in Wolfsong. Plus, Gavin and Carter hadn't even spoken to each other in the previous books, so I didn't expect to feel a great deal for them. Oh I'm so glad I was wrong!
I loved how the relationship between Carter and Gavin was portayed and developed. The first part touched me deeply. And it was awesome to follow Carter and Gavin getting closer once they were back home. I loved the pack and found family as much as I had in Heartsong. The bond between the three brothers had a beautiful and important impact in this book, too.
There was less banter, though, and the Livingstone - issues and Thomas Bennett - issues weren't my favorite themes to begin with, but obviously were a lot on page here.
All in all this was an unexpectedly good end to the series for me. Yet there's no doubt that Heartsong is my absolute favorite in the series, followed by Ravensong....more

So. This one was different. It was simply put AWESOME.
Everything I could have hoped for, but never thought I'd get, in a beautiful, complete package. Found family, banter and sillyness, longing, forgiveness, a slowly (re-) building relationship, and so much love.
Ok there was also violence, gore and despair, but it wasn’t overwhelming (some parts quite hard to read, though).
I cannot put into words how much I loved Robbie. And Kelly. Both together. Kelly and Carter. Rico. Robbie and Rico. Carter and Gavin. So much love between mates, between brothers, between pack-members.
I'm so happy I continued after the disappointing first book. Thanks Marci and Snjez for nudging me in the right direction ❤️.
The book is funny, the MCs are great together, but since they were together nearly from the start, I got bored early on. I have a hNo rating, dnf 55%.

"Nicholas might have secrets—oh yes, absolutely had secrets, and annoyance skittered down Tom’s spine like spider-legs, betrayed and angry about it—but wouldn’t’ve killed a man. Tom knew that. Beautiful sequel full of magic and love. Colin the kitten shape shifter lives with David the mage, but David fears it's mostly because of gratitude and that Colin isn't happy.. The fire scene was written in such a compelling way I (nearly) felt the magic happen! Awesome writing as in every book by this author. So obviously there have to be quotes..
"I could have hurt you. I did hurt you.” “Yes.” Colin’s eyes narrowed. Cat-vivid, spell-silver, maybe more serious than David had ever seen. Colin Rue liked pouncing on him and got excited over whipped cream and laser-beam star-shows. This burned truer than stars. More certain. “You did hurt me. But I knew it would hurt.” “You—” “I chose that. To protect you. To help you protect other people. I made that choice. Because I can, not because you bound me or compelled me. You’re not the person who took my choices away, and don’t say you are, because then you’re saying I can’t make my own choices now. I do. I am. I’d do it again. And you’d do it, too, so don’t even try saying you wouldn’t.”

"The ground was hard and the puddle was deep. A truck pulled in while he watched, and men grumbled about the rain. Sorry, Colin told them silently. My fault. Sort of. You sleep with a warlock one time, he turns out to be a megalomaniac who sticks you in an enchanted compulsion collar, you run away, and, hey, thunderstorms. He even liked rain, or he had before. He liked rain the way that cats liked rain: indoors, with a fire and a soft blanket and someone’s lap to sit on. If he were human at the time, that might even lead to more than simply sitting, under the drumming vibrant heartbeat of drops."...more

I enjoyed the slow development of the romance, and loved how Victor and Elijah's reluctance to get closer very slowly receded. I rarely read fantasy books and was surprised how much I enjoyed reading about this world. I loved that the author centered most of the storyline in the forest and nature on Victor's pack's land.
