Narrator Jane Oppenheimer did an excellent job of narrating The Mysterious Mrs. Nixon. I listened at 1.75x. This is my fourth book by this narrator. Jane has narrated over 100 books, notably The Frozen River and The Goddess of Warsaw.
Bookish Thoughts: I think it is a win when I learn new information after reading a book. I thought the author did a thorough job of researching about the former First Lady. If you enjoy reading about history and politics, then you will enjoy this book! ...more

It took me awhile to get the story down due to the novel having a complicated timeline. I’m glad I had a print copy because the audio would have been hard for me to follow. Overall, I enjoyed this brilliantly written mystery that had themes of espionage, murder, and legal aspects!

The book was set in a small vacation town called Beaufort, NC about a summer home that had been in the family since the 1700s. The novel used a dual timeline and normally when I read a dual timeline, most of the time I like one storyline better than the other. In a Happier Life, I equally enjoyed both timelines. Both were filed with mystery and love. If you enjoy both of those themes, this book is for you. Great for the beach or pool!

Narrator Laura Benanti did a wonderful job of narrating House of Glass. I listened at 1.75x. This is my second book by this narrator. She also narrated The Drowning by T.J. Newman along with Steven Weber
Bookish Thoughts: This popcorn thriller was filled with plenty of suspense and twists and turns. I probably would not have enjoyed this one that much if I did not listen solely on audio. The author did a good job on developing the characters, which were hard to like at times. This one did not blow me away but if you like mystery whodunnits, this one is for you!

Narrator Helen Laser did a wonderful job of narrating The Wedding People. I listened at 1.75x. This is my fourth book by this narrator. I have enjoyed all the books she has narrated. They include If Something Happens to Me, Yellowface, and The Second Chance Year.
Bookish Thoughts: I wasn’t sure what to think of this novel that started off kind of depressing. Phoebe Stone has hit rock bottom and runs into a wedding group staying at the same hotel she is at. Thankfully, Phoebe’s story takes a positive turn when she is befriended by the future bride. This book is hilarious, thought provoking and full of witty banter. There is some explicit language that I didn’t care for but overall I enjoyed this emotional story about love, relationships and overcoming adversity.

Narrator Kathleen McInerney did a phenomenal job of narrating The Burning. I listened at 1.75x. This is my second book by the narrator and I look forward to listening to many more books by her.
Bookish Thoughts: This fast pace murder mystery was a page turner for me. I listened to it in two days!! Chief of police Kate Burkholder investigates a gruesome murder, which reveals a little known chapter of early Amish history in the new installment of the bestselling Linda Castillo series. This was my first book I read in the series and I highly enjoyed it. It can be read as a standalone and I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series!

Narrator Saskia Maarleveld did a great job of narrating One Big Happy Family. I listened at 1.75x for the first half of the book and then sped up to 2x to hurry and finish. This is my first book by this narrator.
Bookish Thoughts: This novel resonated with me because as I started the audiobook a hurricane was making landfall in the book and simultaneously in real life Hurricane Beryl made landfall along the Texas coast. The book started off promising and then slowed down in the middle. I started to get a bit bored so I increased the speed to hurry and finish. It didn’t blow me away and left me feeling meh.
I enjoyed this novel that explored themes, such as gender equality, pursuance of dreams, and perseverance through adversity. I could Rating: 3.5 stars
I enjoyed this novel that explored themes, such as gender equality, pursuance of dreams, and perseverance through adversity. I could relate to the protagonist who was ambitious and striving to succeed in a male dominated field. The author’s writing style was compelling and descriptive. If you are a fan of historical fiction and stories of empowerment, make sure to add The Women at the Wheel to your TBR pile!
