The book was set in a small vacation town called Beaufort, NC about a summer home that had been in the family since the 1700s. The novel used a dual timeline and normally when I read a dual timeline, most of the time I like one storyline better than the other. In a Happier Life, I equally enjoyed both timelines. Both were filed with mystery and love. If you enjoy both of those themes, this book is for you. Great for the beach or pool!

I could relate to the protagonist who was ambitious and striving to succeed in a male dominated field. The author’s writing style was compelling and descriptive. If you are a fan of historical fiction and stories of empowerment, make sure to add The Women at the Wheel to your TBR pile!

I have been putting off writing this review for a long time because I knew I would not be able to adequately express my thoughts about this amazing and powerful novel. It was a beautiful story about friendship, betrayal and ultimately hope. This was an in-depth coming of age and character study using historical details that explored two women and their experiences in the Iranian culture. I loved everything about this book, the characters, the setting, themes and writing style. If you enjoy stories of women, sacrifice, friendship and culture, this book is for you.

I love reading fiction books that are based on true events so when I read the description for Old King, I was immediately interested. Old King is centI love reading fiction books that are based on true events so when I read the description for Old King, I was immediately interested. Old King is centered around the decades long crimes of Ted Kaczynski as the Unabomber, however this novel is so much more than that. It was a slow burn character driven story. The author beautifully wrote the Montana setting so descriptive and captivating that it was a highlight for me throughout the book. This is a compelling literary story about the North American frontier and what it would have been like to live in close proximity to the Unabomber.

This novel had me consumed from start to finish. Told using dual narratives, short chapters and a present day podcast/interview style, the story is centered around two teenage characters who are love struck upon meeting for the first time. They each tell their perspective of their journey during the Waco siege. We Burn Daylight is more character driven and even though we all know the outcome of the story, some chapters were intense enough that I couldn’t stop reading. I highly recommend this unique and captivating story!

I enjoyed this lighthearted romcom book that had a great storyline, even though it was sort of unbelievable, between the buttoned-up heir of a grocery chain and his free-spirited artist ex as they fake their relationship in order to receive a massive inheritance. I still went with it. I didn’t care for all the steamy open door scenes, it’s just not for me. I recommend going in blind and not reading the synopsis.

Told across a span of several decades, I really enjoyed this book and came to really connect with the characters. As far as the ending, it was good and left me feeling satisfied.

Redwood Court is a poignant and thought provoking debut about a family drama in South Carolina. I enjoyed the rich storytelling and numerous characters. I appreciated the list of characters at the beginning of the book to help me follow along. Mika was my favorite. I was cheering for her throughout the story. I didn’t always know every point of view I was reading or the exact timeframe but I thought the author did a great job of writing about an extraordinary family pursuing their American dream.
