This gave me an 80s vibe horror thriller with an uttermost supernatural twist. As I was reading this I was thinking 80/90s, maybe the bike riding and walking to school meeting at their secret treehouse because what kid does that in this day and time? I could picture seeing this turning into a Netflix show/movie, that I would watch! Stranger Things meets The Clovehitch Killer with a twang of Stand by Me. I soaked up every word of this book. There were a lot of twists and turns and no happy ending as the author had no difficulty getting rid ...more

“I think when you enter a place that's absorbed enough bad things, it pukes them out at you. It drenches you in them. So a relatively innocuous room, like this one, will appear evil. Because bad things happened here."
I don't know whether to be disturbed or heartbroken for all the characters in the book. I definitely say this is not what I considered to be a horror but a mentally dark psychological rollercoaster with creepy themes but not creepy in the way you might be thinking.
“You should always listen to that voice when something doesn't feel right. Always look out for the red flags. Stop worrying about being nice, about making a scene. I know that now. I learned it the hard way that night."
What misfortune Angel (Johnny) went through, but also all the characters in this book, made me feel more pity for them. I knew Johnny was getting to the point of what he wanted from Shayla, but what he wanted was just not expected, and left me speechless. Don't know what was worse or maybe the same level of detrimental, what Bethany did to him or what he did to dear Shayla. Honestly, I thought he was a serial killer and was going to just kill ...more

Well for starters this book was written in the third person pov, and it doesn't feel as personal and hard to take earnestly. I'm just not a huge fan of the whole third-person POVs. Also, another thing that took me away was the reality that these were all 16-year-olds and I can't explain in words right now why that bothered me so ( it could be it's 2 in the morning and I need to sleep). It was a great plot, I also like all crime documentaries and always watch the ID channel. Reading this book had a lot of elements taken from a lot of those docuseries that I have watched before, as reading the things that happened was like oh this seems familiar to something that I have watched before on the ID channel I watched (can't think of a certain case right now). Also if you love crime history and make-up you should check out Bailey Sarian on YT or FB, she's awesome, she does her make-up (which always looks so gorgeous) while telling about an infamous murder mystery. Furthermore, a very huge ...more
