Sexy, funny, sweet and absurdly cute. It put me in such a euphoric and light mood I can't stop giggling, which I probably stop doing considering it's midnight and my cat is looking at me like I've gone insane, but really, I can't. It was that cute.
In case that cover wasn't hint enough, My Roommate Is A Vampire is the literal epitome of a feel-good rom-com. Sure, if you're looking for depth or cleverly crafted backstories, you've stumbled upon the wrong novel; and sure, this was very insta-lovey and kind of related heavily on suspension on reality, but who am I to judge? So, if you're into swoon-worthy romance, zero unnecessary drama, a relatable FMC in her 30s (YAY!), chef's kiss diary entries, hilarious internet search histories, and an anachronistic slash confirmed bi vampire hottie (who looked a suspicious lot like tom ellis in my mind) with a hidden swiftie side and kermit the frog pj pants, this book's your guy.

Suzanne was an inspiration, and I love that neither Zach nor Emersyn ever stopped loving her.
This book was so damn sad and good. It made me fall in love with Jewel E. Ann again, after the Fisherman fiasco, and it made me weep a little, especially at the end. Henna and Bodhi's love was raw and unrealistically beautiful, but their struggle were real and palpable. My heart was beating so damn fast the whole time I'm not a big fan of main characters in a romance novel having other partners during break-ups or in the time period between them meeting and falling in love, but I know how things go in reality - I know how love and sex don't always get together, I know how rainbows often require rain to come out, and that's what makes this book, this story so touching and realistic. Nobody writes angst like Jewel E. Ann. She owes me at least a fruit basket for the emotional pain I went through because of this book. The storyline about Bodhi and his dad was my favorite. Evreything about them was delicate and intense, and it made my soul bleed. I finished the book last night and I woke up thinking about it. Hint: I wasn't a ray of sunshine on this fine Monaday morning. Bodhi and Henna will have a special place in my heart forever. And if it's undeniable JEA is the queen of angst, she also mastered the fine art of fade-to-black smut, to the point some of this see-through steamy scenes were better than some of the explicit stuff I've read through the years.
JEA's writing is exquisite, addicting. This story is powerful and painful, emotional and peppered with amazing songs the two main characters keep mentioning here and there.
I can't wait to find out where my next book by this author is going to take me. One thing is sure, though. It'll be hard for another book couple in the JEA universe, to own my heart the way Bodhi and Henna, and Flint and Ellen (from Look the Part) do....more

This book was recommended to my by the sweet Leonie, and I couldn't not pick it up, considering a) how much I trust her judgement and b) this novel has all the elements I usually dig in a novel.
Lie to Me is an intense book with a heavy storyline that will make you swoon as much as tear up; the main characters go through a journey that digs deep into their psyche and brings to the surface the bitter and painful aftermath of trauma. It's definitely not your typical small town romance novel.
I've gotta admit I liked the story and the relationship between the characters more than I liked the overall execution of the book. The writing felt a bit repetitive at times, and, even though I found myself obviously rooting for Emma and Reed right from the start, I was a bit put off by the insta-love thing they clearly had going on. I also found Lala overtly and constantly pushing Emma and Reed together even after they'd just met, a bit too...novelistic, if you get what I mean.
On the other hand, I really liked how Emma and Reed were able to finally confront their demons, and how they had a part in each other's path to healing. And, oh, this was probably the first time I read a cop-romance book and I've gotta say. Cops have nothing to envy to hockey players. To be honest, the world deserves more Reed Ryans.
Objectively speaking, I really liked this book and I read it quickly and without being bored. Sure, soem technicalities need more work, but it was a beautiful novel with a beautiful message, nonetheless.
