I cried at many points; out of despair, out of shock, and out of sheer joy. I'll simply say that I love Darrow and the myriad characters surrounding him. The black-and-white ink and digital design evokes a raw and stark natural world as it collides with the human world. The story is told from the perspective of a lone wolf who, through nature's disgust or disappointment with humanity, "gifts" him with the ability of thought. I first read it when I was younger (out of requirement) and don't think I got the full meaning of it. This may be one of those books to re-read every few years....more
